There are so many positive things about your part time job - free gym membership, staying healthy (physical and mental), early morning work so you can still work on your other jobs, new friends and having time for your old friends, and of course the extra money you will be saving. I get you with the feeling of loneliness. First there was pandemic and remote working and right now I am looking for a job and just doing my projects at home. I really feel like it would be nice to go back doing part-time job in customer service or something. I used to be a book seller before and I really miss my old job sometimes before I started office work. I am bad at waking up early if I have no plans but when I have I really like the feeling and get excited to go out to the world and see & meet people. Only thing keeping me not doing this is that I’m scared what people would think when they see me go from my own degree office work back to ”minimum wage job”. Which is really stupid! I really should do this because fun few shifts per week part time job gives me a lot of happiness. Thank you Zoe for your wise words 😊

I absolutely adore your vlogs Zoe! I was having a similar discussion with my sister about the ideas about “ going backwards “. She is changing jobs because of scheduling for her daughter and babysitters are so expensive.Her friend tried to shame her because her new job is a cleaner and she would be going backwards. I had to tell my sister that her new role does not diminish her talent, her experiences or any of the sort. She is doing the best she can for her daughter, her mental health and that’s what truly matters.

I watched this video earlier & decided it’s finally time to get a new gym membership & a dog sitter for my two aussies. There’s underlying factors as to why I can’t perform or get as much done as I used to and stuff like feeling guilty or not in a good routine health-wise has affected me SO much. I just turned 25 and feel like I’m in a crisis having worked for myself for years through college and after. Enriching our lives is what gives it value and meaning outside of paying bills and chasing money.

I love how transparent you are! I am currently in a phase in my life where I started my whole life over. I use to make a lot of money in a career I went to school for and everything but I was really unhappy. Although now I am making a lot less than what I used to can I say where I am in life is probably the most healthiest and happiest I ever been and I shows. It just goes to show it’s not about the money it’s about finding the things you love and enjoy and going after it!

I did something similar years back. I left a good job due to burnout and took a Veterinary receptionist job at an animal clinic for like $13 an hour. I LOVED it. I loved the teamwork, the fast pace, and it was super easy and it just gave me focus. It did it for a year. Unfortunately I ran out of money and my finances went awry so I had to leave lol BUT no regrets because I got so much perspective working there and it helped me to realize that I wanted to do creative work and just be appreciated and compensated well for what I do next. I do work as a Digital Content Manager now in corporate but no lie...when I get my mortgage paid off I would totally consider working at the animal hospital again just for funzies and because my overhead expenses will be low. 😅
