You should have called this video "Top 5 Songs to kill yourself to (HD HR DT FL)" The concept of going into lyrics interpretation is nice but I wish you chose some variety. Do With A Dance Number or Border of extacyby IOSYS. Even when the lyrics are just about eating cake. You can make up some fake lore where this is actually about loss and suffering (its not)
@@sergioojeda108 basically there was a bunch of drama with pusu, I think he was the song writer. He basically attempted to murder his girlfriend and then himself or something. Just google like "tuyu drama" or "pusu stabbing" and you'll get some results.
honestly the TUYU song is truly is completed once you listen to the sequal "I'm getting on the Bus to the other world" made me miserable by itself but with the follow up it can overcome trauma
The official meaning of Yoru Ni Kakeru (in a simplified form) is about Thanatos (death basically) acting as if it is a woman being led by Thanatos to kill herself (because Thanatos wants to have fun as it kills people) and eventually he kills himself with her and so Thanatos claims him. There are much better explanations, but I thought to write one.
The third song is what got me into osu! with btmc, hiring the poon as a hitman. I have listened to this song over a dozen times and yet never even thought about what miku is saying there. but as a "cultured gamer" i can now relate to a lot of topics and references addressed in the lyrics. In hindsight i see myself as the guy described my miku, even though i really don't wanna be that guy. in a lot of situations i keep quiet when or talk around the topic because I'm scared or don't want to take responsibility, which is something i have to learn. Great video u hella deserved my sub. I am bad at expressing myself. keep it going :]
i've been lisstening to "Im getting on the bus to the other world see ya" for a long time. and i always click on videos which mention it because Bus-chan holds a special place in my heart. the song saved me from almost doing an attempt and i'm so sad that tuyu disbanded..
If you have exposure to Japanese media/culture, it's really not surprising at all. What stands out, however, is that this theme of tragedy seems mainstream in Japanese media which contrasts to what is mainstream over in the U.S.
i had a similar realization when i was trying to learn japanese (i quit) a lot of the songs i was listening to for "exposure" when translated were extremely depressing
wow, i've listened to HIBANA and From Under Covers so much but I've never really looked into the meanings, thanks for doing so, now i should really look at the meaning of other J-songs i love 🙌
Project Diva conditioned me more to do this, especially because of songs such as Unhappy Refrain, Ghost Rule, HIBANA and Tokyo Teddy Bear, and then with either mods of the game or listening to more vocaloid in general. Hearing it from osu! is weird because I always assumed nobody gives two fucks about lyrics in a game where you focus on two things at once. When you finally get to the point of steiding along to the music and vibing and understanding it, you're more centered in the map than in the feels, or at least that's what it seems to me. It's a good video though! Really great commentary and editing too. Reminder for everybody: pay attention to what you vibe to lol
Amazing video! There is actually a bit more story to some YOASOBI songs. The lyrics definetly hit different after reading them. Some are short, some are longer "Yoru ni Kakeru" is inspired by 2 short stories, "タナトスの誘惑 (Temptation of Thanatos')" and 夜に溶ける (Melting into the Night). Happy reading!
The song called "From Under Cover" man it gives me good old times. This song never miss everytime I play osu! When I was still playing on PC at that time, and now I am playing osu! on my laptop and tried to DT this map in AR 8 and managed to pass it. I didn't knew that this song has some dark meanings because I always think that this is just some metallic music lol..
really nice video and edit, doesn't feel like you only have 1k subs, it's more like a 100k+ sub channel quality of video. Keep it up, i'm sure you are gonna do well in future
I thought you were lying about the R6 reference and omg its real wtf 😂 I guess I always die on the beatmap before I hear that lyrics so I never knew about it
The songs covered by Japanese VTubers are also depressing but sound uplifting as well. I instantly thought about Unknown Mother Goose while watching this.
The story behind Yoru ni kakera is actually pretty interesting for me. Apparently, people who are depressed see thanatos or death as their ideal type and that person will encourage them to kill themselves, and the guy in the story thought that the girl he was seeing was seeing "death" as the line said "staring at thing only you can see". The girl will constantly message him saying that she will jump, but never does it. But actually, she was death and she was waiting for the guy to jump with him, that's why in the end of the song they are falling but the guys is alone when they reached the ground (correct me if i have mistakes, i have read the one-shot this song was based on years ago)
bro respawned the guys from back then legit I had to install osu! and I legit chose to skip sleep PS: your edits are cool, I kinda enjoyed the video, brings back memories 😌😌
illloved is also a good one, its made by the same guy as happppy song but i guess it isnt really osu cuz that fireyrage or whatever his username is only made like 30 seconds of the map and i litteraly had to make a map for myself... But i mean its still a good song
Meanwhile, there are metal songs with the most joyous and uplifting lyrics screamed out accompanied by insanely fast drumming, insane guitar solos, and the locrian scale mode.
A not so fun fact about the usage of the word "bus" in the second song. The phrase "Catching the bus" is sometimes used as a euphemism on taking one's own life.
The first song is based on a one shot i dont really remember the name of it but is called something with thanathos i belive Edit: found the name ”Thanatos no Yūwaku”
real, been playing [tuyu - getting on the bus to the other world see you!] alot, had me curious, read it and dang I felt pity, then 2 years after tuyu released: - If There Was An Endpoint. man, she trying to convince us like if we were on the end point like her, let's not take it like her :((
Man it was definitely sad when i eventually learned Japanese hearing my favorite childhood songs and realizing that they are even better than i thought😂
BRO WHY YOU GOTTA CALL OUT MY THREE FAVOURIT SONGS😭 Hibana, racing into the night, AND bus to another world are all songs i listen to on my playlist and songs i have on osu And yes before you ask i did know what the meanings of the songs were before listing to them and still loved them
