I am beyond thrilled you didn't put the "faux marble" sticky shelf liner on those beautiful counters. The colors may be outside of your comfort zone but they work with the surroundings and the breakfast nook looks perfect. If at some point in the future you decide to change the countertops salvaging the old ones and reselling them instead of destroying them could help pay for new ones. I'm pleased your generation has embraced the concept of reduce, reuse, recycle and being conscientiously aware of the Earth's resources and understanding they are finite.
Yeah I don't see that being very functional if you have kids but maybe for a single person or a couple. I actually really liked her table that she had beforehand
You are very right. The overall look is so delicate, calming and beautiful. However I would have chosen a small oval table. It would give more space for an extra chair and would serve better for the end of the bench. But in general, that corner feels very peaceful! Great idea for a small space.
Agreed. The base of the table does not allow for much leg room for the person sitting on the bench. Turning it 90 degrees would solve this, and make it so 3 more wishbone chairs could be used.
Not loving the round table either. Oval or oblong works better. If they have a full house, the folks on the end of the bench aren’t eating at the table.
That centerpiece Wall art is extraordinarily hard to digest. What an off-putting addition. A mirror or updated deeply textured wall addition could've made this whole room really pop and beckon. Everything else, however, is a healthy movement. I've got to admit, it is a pleasant contrast to before as far as the Glassworks go. Extending that rod and shunning the vertical blinds away made a dramatic difference . Great job!!! (Except for that wall art. Bury the wall art . 😆)
To me the picture is too small for that wall. I would go for a larger piece that fills the space and gets much closer to the sconces. I think a mirror might look old fashioned but that little wall art looks sad 😞 like it’s saying “Let me down, already…”
Kristen, you work incredibly hard on your content and it shows 🥺 I hope you know how much of an impact you make 💕May God bless you for everything you do for this channel, spreading positivity and motivation 🤍
I love this makeover! my fave part is how much of a difference taking down the vertical blinds made, and I really like how the white of the wishbone chairs and the dipped stool legs pops against the rest of the palette. I also love how you chose not to "fill up the space" I think my own instinct would have been to get a bigger table, but when I saw the final reveal the table size was perfect for the space. It is another good lesson from you! Thanks Kristen your videos are always so fun to watch.
If the right side of the sliding doors is stationary, did you consider adding a third perpendicular unit to create a corner bench? It could stand away from the glass slightly to allow for the drape, and you'd have to add a back panel and fill in the gap, but I think it would make for a cozier nook.
Love this breakfast nook! Looks so cozy! I love that you were able to achieve this with easier DIYs and not crazy bench building project, it gives me confidence that I can do it too 😊🙌🏼
Great idea for the storage benches. One bench cushion would look more high end. The old rectangular table was more in scale with the size of the benches and you could easily seat six. As others pointed out, the print needs to be larger. Love the sconces, wall color and back pillows.
This is so helpful! We have a small house where the dining table is really our arts/dining/homework/hangout table. I think adding a super long window bench would make it so much cozier and more hospitable.
Love this hack. I have been looking at apartments and trying to figure out how to utilize a dining nook space as a workspace and a dining area to maximize small space. This would be a perfect trick. I actually would have kept the longer table you have previously but that’s just personal preference. The space looks great.
This is a GAME CHANGER! Just moved into a new apartment and the dining area is super small. I don’t have the space, expertise, or frankly the tools to build custom bench seating, so the ikea hack is an answered prayer 😁
Such a great transformation! I would like to suggest that you paint the pantry door knobs a flat black to tie in with the black sconces. While I love that table, I think a rectangular table would work best with the bench. I really liked your other table. 🙂 Also love the sage green - would prefer the entire wall painted though. A bigger picture with some black would look great too! I’m sure you will spend a lot more time in your kitchen nook now 😄
Yes, I would agree that a rectangular table would have worked better. As it is, it is a bench for one person rather than putting all four lovely wishbone chairs around the table.
I think a horizontal rectangular piece of art would have worked better but over all it looks great, even though it isn’t my style. Using the toy storage as benches was a great idea! Excited to see the next makeover at the lake house
I love the simplicity of this and what a difference! What a great idea using the boxes for a bench! For me, I would have taken the green all the way up, but I always love your work!
Lovely colour on the wall, however I would have painted the whole wall. I also don’t think the bench suits the round table, I’m not sure if you’re planning to change that? Wall lights, good hack & curtains too. 👍
Love your breakfast nook! I used to tease my sister unmercifully about being an “antique white” girl, she painted her entire house that color, while I went for more drama, every room a different color! But your choice of antique white for the bench is perfect! The green on the wall is also a soothing green. Great job!
Love the Sage Green paint color , however I would have painted the entire wall with it. The painting looks great, however I thought it should have been a bigger size for the amount of space you have. Love your sconces on each side. I also would have left off the wooden rings on the table. All together tho it looks very nice and love how you hung your curtains. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks so much.
Found this very interesting to learn your thought process. It turned out quite well. I do agree with others that I prefer the first tables shape & size. Also would have painted whole wall so as not to chop up the small space. The closet door color is a little jarring with the bench color.
Kristen.....You absolutely nailed it. See, all that time you spent at Ikea in the children's section has paid off. The bench!! I have ordered the vase and dried arrangement from Ikea. Love it! Thanks for posting the resources.
Love it!! Only thing I would change is the black sconces. Love black hardware but this room needs something soft and weathered and warm like brass. It would look so much more expensive too. Another lovely design Kristen! You have the gift!!
Well done ❤️ I think the table looks a bit small compared to the ending of the bench tho & the art work is also small 😬 but overall it’s really cozy & cute ☺️🌸😘
Gorgeous! I love that you are working with the current kitchen even though you're not in love with it. Having a fresh new eating space really made the whole kitchen look updated and a space you'll enjoy looking at until you do the bigger "reno". Well done!! xoxo
the countertops looked ok...when you brought the colors of the countertop over into the breakfast nook, in my opinion, made the countertops gorgeous...at first i was waiting for the video when they get ripped out but now I can really see the beauty in them
So many commented they did not like that the green paint didn't go up to the ceiling. I think that would be so predictable and boring. This looks unique and high end to me . Also love the round table against the wall bench . Again, another out of the box decision which makes the room different and shows your personality. The one thing I did agree on, was the artwork. Seems to small and generic. But overall I love, love ,love what you did here. You transformed this little space completely.
I actually like the kitchen as is, maybe just swap out handles/faucet for an aged brass. But the warm soft cabinet colour, the butchers block, the countertop all look very inviting and traditional. I think that’s the look you want for a lake house.
I agree about the curtains, vertical blinds associate for me with office, it's cold and not cozy at all. The space turned out amazing!!!! Thanks for the hack for the bench and tips :)
Liked the old tabel way more for this space. A bench doesn't go too well with a round table in my opinion. Thought the dark wood in the old tabel had a really warm and cosy vibe. But loved the green wall and lamps.
Can we talk about that view? I would love to have a kitchen with those windows. I don’t think I would even notice if the decor was good or bad because I’d be standing at the sink with my coffee and staring at the view. 😍
I would replace the artwork with a large mirror that would reflect the actual lake and open up the space, however, everything else is right on point with the rest of the kitchen, very cosy space and that IKEA hack is genius! Maybe I would just add a board on top to help with the weight distribution and bring in some more wood tones, overall though great job, love your channel
Beautiful and I did get some great ideas for my own kitchen area. I'm a renter so I've been wondering what to do, and I had thought about the IKEA shelves turned on the side, but these toy boxes are a great idea. And a lot of storage. I have about the same amount of room to work with as you did. Being a renter I love the light puck ideas too. Thanks for the great ideas! 💕
Wow !! Great Job!! I love how hands on and creative you are. Love when the finished product makes you SO joyful & exuberant too !!! It makes me feel the same. I love your tips on decorating and the way you explain everything in layman's terms. We all want a beautiful & comfy home but neither I or many others have any degree in design.
Very well done! Unique idea to not have the green go to the ceiling!, The round table is perfect and bends so well with the kitchen counter. I want to do this idea, one of my favorites!!
Another beautiful room, Kristen! Your wall sconce idea is brilliant! I have a new screened porch with a 23' long wall of screen panels, divided by white square posts about every 4 feet. I want to put some sconces on the posts near the dining area, but don't want to run wires. I will definitely be using pucks on small sconces as you've done here. Thanks!
It turned absolutely amazing but me personally I will choose a different colour for the table and side table, I will go with a little more bright one but on this same colour pallet if you get me. But overall very good job and very inspiring!
We close on our house in a month and I was debating about how I wanted to do our dining area and this was just absolutely beautiful! I’m definitely using your ideas as inspiration! So excited!!
Oh KRISTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SOOOOOOOO in love with this!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey, I just bought a house! Wanna come to Florida and help me decorate and style it??? teehee

the perfectionist virgo in me can’t unsee the bench/dining table proportion 😓 really love the overall look its absolutely beautiful
straight benches with round tables just don't make sense to me .. only one person can comfortably sit at the table on that side
Yeah I don't see that being very functional if you have kids but maybe for a single person or a couple. I actually really liked her table that she had beforehand
Same. I came to see if anyone else felt the same way. That being said, her styling is beautiful, and she’s simply lovely!
You are very right. The overall look is so delicate, calming and beautiful. However I would have chosen a small oval table. It would give more space for an extra chair and would serve better for the end of the bench. But in general, that corner feels very peaceful! Great idea for a small space.
Looks amazing! I would have painted the whole wall color or added trim work. The eye goes right to the point of green meeting white☺️
Yes, so much more personality. That’s what I need in my space. But, I would prefer a long table for the nook vs. the round.
Agreed. The base of the table does not allow for much leg room for the person sitting on the bench. Turning it 90 degrees would solve this, and make it so 3 more wishbone chairs could be used.
Also resembles a cardboard table that's sold online. I definitely would have chosen differently also.
I would have gotten an oval table. The round table looks small for the space and bench sitting.
Agree that the table is too small and no keg room. I like the oval idea or a bigger round table would allow another chair. Everything else I ❤️
Not loving the round table either. Oval or oblong works better. If they have a full house, the folks on the end of the bench aren’t eating at the table.
It’s such a calming space. I love how it improves the kitchen space as well. The colors are beautiful!
I love the lamp hack, what a stroke of genius! Love the space, so pretty.
Lone Fox does it all the time
@@lovly2cu725 i have not seen it before, still very clever :)
You can actually buy battery powered light bulbs now that screw into the lamp and are rechargeable.
@@shellsisacoolpear oooh this just keeps getting better, thanks for that little gem. :)
@@shellsisacoolpear wow! That’s amazing!
A large mirror instead of the smallish landscape print might reflect your beautiful view.
And it would reflect the beautiful outside water landscaping!!
I agree. The pillows and rugs make it cozy but add young children to the decor equation and it's just food on everything!!
I agree. I love the look but the picture somehow doesn't work. A mirror would have been perfect

My favorite part is when you tie everything together with some wall art!!! I love it❤️❤️
Kristen, you work incredibly hard on your content and it shows 🥺 I hope you know how much of an impact you make 💕May God bless you for everything you do for this channel, spreading positivity and motivation 🤍
It turned out amazing!! The only thing I’d do differently is choose a different art piece. Everything else is verrry peaceful😍
I totally agree, the only thing that I didn't like about this was the piece of art.
Same. I love the nautical theme of the art piece, but thought a triptych display would be lovely, mirroring the view out the window even better.
Agree
The colors are perfect for a breakfast nook, I would have never thought of that
It's perfect, however the art photo looks a little small for the space. I would play with that by trying different options :)
Love it. For me, I would double up the curtain panels, two each side. The colors are very relaxing. Your accessories are perfect. Love your channel.
I'm obsessed with her videos
I love this makeover! my fave part is how much of a difference taking down the vertical blinds made, and I really like how the white of the wishbone chairs and the dipped stool legs pops against the rest of the palette. You definitely brought this kitchen corner into cozy comfort space. Well done Kristen.
LOVE IT! Take out that arcadia door and put a french door in - that would look amazing!
Love this breakfast nook! Looks so cozy! I love that you were able to achieve this with easier DIYs and not crazy bench building project, it gives me confidence that I can do it too 😊🙌🏼

Beautiful, the table really warmed up the rug, good call
Actually love how the colors all came together. A calm, pretty space!

I actually would have kept the longer table you have previously but that’s just personal preference. The space looks great.
Kristen, IKEA shold seriously sponsor you. I really enjoy your videos and you are always showcasing IKEA products.
Well done! You “diagnosed” the imbalance issues perfectly.
This is a GAME CHANGER! Just moved into a new apartment and the dining area is super small. I don’t have the space, expertise, or frankly the tools to build custom bench seating, so the ikea hack is an answered prayer 😁
Your new look in the breakfast nook really surprised me. I wasn't sure how you'd improve the room. You did a great job!
So cozy. I love how you did it on a budget, but it looks so luscious.
Job well done. No ostentatious, and over doing. Perfectly balanced and subtle colors and decor. Great transformation. Really impressed.
This is better than any show on tv. Real life and attainable!
Such a great transformation! I would like to suggest that you paint the pantry door knobs a flat black to tie in with the black sconces. I don’t think the table will be comfortable. Can’t stretch legs
Yes 👍🏼
Yes, I would agree that a rectangular table would have worked better. As it is, it is a bench for one person rather than putting all four lovely wishbone chairs around the table.
You did it again! From awkwardly empty to cozy cohesive. Well done! Thanks for sharing.
I think a horizontal rectangular piece of art would have worked better but over all it looks great, even though it isn’t my style. Using the toy storage as benches was a great idea! Excited to see the next makeover at the lake house
You’ve inspired me to redo my small space dining space in my apartment! Can’t wait to start!!! Thank you ♥️♥️
Anything she touches is gold!
I love the simplicity of this and what a difference! What a great idea using the boxes for a bench! For me, I would have taken the green all the way up, but I always love your work!
I mean seriously! Gorgeous! You are so talented! I love watching your videos 🙌🏼♥️
Lovely colour on the wall, however I would have painted the whole wall. I also don’t think the bench suits the round table, I’m not sure if you’re planning to change that? Wall lights, good hack & curtains too. 👍
I love how you didn’t paint the accent wall all the way to the top! It helped ground the room further! 😍
Love your breakfast nook! I used to tease my sister unmercifully about being an “antique white” girl, she painted her entire house that color, while I went for more drama, every room a different color! But your choice of antique white for the bench is perfect! The green on the wall is also a soothing green. Great job!
Ahhh this is so cute :)
I bet u wld have put the rail curtain upper to the ceiling
@@vegodaher1312 I thought the same thing! 😂
That green background with black sconce and puck lights seem so inspired from your old bedroom setup.
Hi Drew
Kristen well done
Love the Sage Green paint color , however I would have painted the entire wall with it. The painting looks great, however I thought it should have been a bigger size for the amount of space you have. Love your sconces on each side. I also would have left off the wooden rings on the table. All together tho it looks very nice and love how you hung your curtains. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks so much.
I agree, I would've painted the whole wall that sage colorr, it looks a bit chopped off.
Found this very interesting to learn your thought process. It turned out quite well. I do agree with others that I prefer the first tables shape & size. Also would have painted whole wall so as not to chop up the small space. The closet door color is a little jarring with the bench color.

The colors and bench look amazing. Sadly, the artwork is the intruder at the party.
the transformation is real!!! Love it!!!
💖💖💖💖💖the difference is night and day, impeccable !👍🏻👍🏻
Really like bench hack but not crazy about bulky table base. Just seems too heavy. Looking forward to more
Antique white is my favorite creamy color! Looks great!
OMG, I can’t believe how stunning you made that space look
You can totally paint the tile for the bathtub and shower. It’ll definitely update the look.
That room is very peaceful and beautiful now!
Gorgeous! I love that you are working with the current kitchen even though you're not in love with it. Having a fresh new eating space really made the whole kitchen look updated and a space you'll enjoy looking at until you do the bigger "reno". Well done!! xoxo

I love everything but the wall art , the table and the BENCH are lovely together.
Just love how you customise ikea furniture mixing classic and contemporary. Love it hun xx

So much better, warmer & cosy
you're amazing!!!!
I love when you say, “OK, today is the final day to this makeover”.
Looks SO beautiful.
I recently changed our curtains in the kitchen area, to sunout binds. It makes the room look so much brighter.
Love it!!! Looks so cozy and really completes the look of your kitchen. The color scheme is perfect 👍
Wooooow so great again Kristen !!!!! You turned it in a cosy, functional and even glam place !!!!
I would add a horizontal piece of wide trim between the green paint and upper wall to finish it off
I actually like the kitchen as is, maybe just swap out handles/faucet for an aged brass.

I'll say it again: You are a genius!! You're fun to watch and I love this color palette...
I love puck lights. Beautiful space.💕
Very well done! Unique idea to not have the green go to the ceiling!, The round table is perfect and bends so well with the kitchen counter. I want to do this idea, one of my favorites!!
The table is everything
it become a beautiful corner ! I'd like to see it by night with those sweet lights on.
I am so happy for you Kristen watching all these makeovers for your new home is thrilling and your so deserving simply beautiful ❤️
Another beautiful room, Kristen! Your wall sconce idea is brilliant! I have a new screened porch with a 23' long wall of screen panels, divided by white square posts about every 4 feet.
