- Mark’s first solo album "Golden Heart" was released in late March 1996. The album was several years in the making and took Mark through a musical journey with influences drawn from Irish and Scottish folk music as well as rock’n’roll and cajan. Golden Heart marked a new beginning for Mark and provided him with the opportunity to work with some of the best musicians in the world: His fearless geniuses from Nashville.

"Golden heart" is a fantastic album...titles like "Darling pretty", "Night in summer long ago", "Rudiger", "Are we in trouble now?"...all this titles are incredible..."Night in summer long ago" could be on a "Dire Straits" album...just like "Romeo and Juliet"...

It's a brilliant one and it's true that a lot of the songs such as Imelda, No Can Do, Vic & Ray, Don't You Get It and Are We In Trouble Now sound like they could be on a Dire Straits album. To quote Mark Knopfler from Calling Elvis: He's still the man.

I can't tell how much I love Mark's music. It's a legacy I'll take with me forever.
That's it exactly. He pulls you into the song. He creates a world. You are not looking on. You are in it. And Mark has a talent for melody - of infinite, gorgeous variety - like no one else I can think of.

Watching mark speaking makes me comfortable
A great adjective! The baritone voice is soft and for the most part, articulate. When he is pondering an answer or idea, he tends to mumble a bit. Hard to imagine him out of sorts with anyone...including his children!? :)

I love everithing about this great music LEGEND.
Just like a comedian masters timing, Mark is a master at knowing exactly how much space to give each note. It's like he holds each note, tenderly caressing every one giving them the space and respect they deserve.. That's what makes him a virtuoso.
Mark is teaching me the most IMPORTANT lesson... show the notes some love and.teach your guitar to speak.

God, I remember how I had waited for this album after OES, I loved since the first moment, and I went to see him live in Prague back then for the first time. My dream came true as I have been his fan since 1985 (was 8 back then)
Saw Mark and these guys last September in Dallas on his Tracker tour every concert he does is a masterpiece,
Saw him on same tour in Seattle at chateau st Michelle winery. Superb

And with these musicians he has chosen very carefully, they also help make our idol MK the greatest. Thank you MK for doing us so well, and thank you to all the musicians (Danny and Guy Fltcher, not to mention the excited Miguel ...) finally thank you all. They are absolutely the best in the world.
my favorite album of marks, i like all his stuff, dire straits, and solo stuff,but golden heart, just takes me to a different place, he is an artist, that has the gift of guitar playing that is just awe inspiring, combined with his talent for songwriting, he is just the complete package, plus a humility that is very rare in his profession, I look forward to seeing him live one day

Golden Heart is an absolutely brilliant album.
I have been listening him recently. Beautiful things are hard to discover, sometimes they remain sinked or may be even made easy by internet world. However I would have never listened him without being recommended. Sadly, With his voice, I have forgotten all my favourites.

I like Mark since i was 12, when I listenned Dire Straits for teh first time. Today, I have 35 and I don´t know how what was good became so perfec, so better, so magic. Mark is amazing. come to Brazil again, last and only time was in Sailing To Philadelphia Tour. I miss and I love you man. God bless. Thank you for all your amazing albuns.

A great album, "Je suis desole" is my favourite. Great short documentary.
