I've been building models for 64 of my 74 years and watching your videos is a true inspiration. I have only been building wooden models for the past 4 years and find them a real challenge. Watching your attention to even the smallest detail is amazing. Your models are actually miniatures of the real thing, which makes them special. Please keep building and inspiring. I hope to watch your future videos for many years to come. Thanks for sharing with us.
Goodmorning again from the Netherlands dear Olha. As normal a great video and a plesure to watch it. Looking forward to the next video. Greetings from your Dutch friend. Gerard. LONG LIVE UKRAINE
I am working on this model at the moment, and I am truly impressed with the quality of the kit and the attention to detail. Having said that though, as someone who has sailed an actual shallop, I do have a few quibbles. Construction-wise, I found that the futtocks if you glue them in the provided jig, end up being a millimeter or so short of reaching the slot on one side of the framing jig. To get around this, I've been sanding and filing the floor timbers and futtocks, placing them in the jig and drilling a pair of holes, one in each futtock that go through into the floor timber. I then carve a tiny trunnel and push it into the hole so that the futtock rotates around it. I then put the frame into place on the keel making sure that the futtocks are fitted into the side slots of the jig before gluing them. It's time consuming, but I think it''s worth it. In terms of accuracy, the rudder is too thick. It needs to be bevelled as it goes aft. I'm also not planning on fitting the brass wear plates between the thole pins for the oars. I'm a maritime historian, and I've never seen any evidence of those. The ends of the planks should be feathered so that they lie flat against the stem and stern posts. On the real thing, they'd be fitted into a rabbet on the posts. They should also probably have a rolling bevel at each end top and bottom so that they go from clinker to carvel in appearance at bow and stern which would help them lie in the rabbet and keep her from leaking at the hood ends. Also, belaying pins should be round not square. I'm planning on fitting the ones in the thwart knees before I glue them in place. Just my observations so far ;
Yes, your comments are absolutely correct! Therefore, it is your conscientiousness that should turn a kit with blanks into a historically accurate copy! The laser cuts only 90 degrees, and the rest is for work with a file...
You are a true inspiration for a lot of ship modellers, especially the ones that are building their first ship. Thank you very much for your videos. Keep up the nice work.
I enjoyed watching the various techniques you employ for clamping. You have greatly expanded my use for binder clips and rubber bands. Thanks for sharing the methods you use to achieve the level of detail and perfection in your models.
Thank you very much! The fact is that I am building this model during my trip to my homeland. When I have almost no tools, so I use everything at hand)))
Your video was worth the wait! As always!! Looking forward to see the next part! Once more I have to admit: your camera setup showing each single step SO clear and close, as well as your skills, makes your videos unique! 👍🏆🌹
This is again an awesome build sequence Olha :o Like every time I am just blown away by your attention to detail. It is absolutely so inspiring to watch you work, and I am in full admiration. Looking forward to the next part of this amazing build. Makes me really wanting to buy that model !!
I don't know if you might find this useful but in a MarisStella kit I'm building the instructions say that burns can be removed with a mild abrasive pad like Dremel 511E and 512E. I tested and I love it, and it does not warp the wood.
Olha, it would be lovely to see a beautiful model created by you, of Joshua Slocums “Spray” Any possibility of this,at some time ? In my humble opinion probably the most beautiful private vessel I have ever seen.
I usually use Brass Black but this time it was an unknown liquid from a local modelers store that gives a brown tint. You can enable subtitles and get more information...
Olha - thank you for all the videos on the shallop - did you acquire the small brass tubing used for pins, etc, separately or are they in the kit and I’m just too clumsy to notice them😂?
I ordered this kit after seeing your original video, but am not sure whether to use oil or varnish. Can I ask, what finish (if any) will you be applying to the wood?
¡Por ahora, estos kits solo se pueden comprar en la tienda oficial con envío a todo el mundo! Puede encontrar el enlace y el código de promoción en la descripción debajo del video...
Thank you very much! For now, these kits can only be purchased from the official store with worldwide shipping! You can find the link and promo code in the description under the video... On the forums, modelers wrote that the shipping cost for this kit in the USA is +/- 38$...
Knowing that we ship modelers are a frugal bunch, let me whole-hardheartedly comments the Tamiya Photoetch Bending pliers. Sure, other pliers are almost as good, but the Tamiya ones are just that much better.
Thanks for the tips! But I build this model with almost no tools at all, because I do it during the trip to the homeland))) I have two tweezers, a mini rasp, some sandpaper, a scalpel and a cutting mat. And I barely found a mini hand drill - it was a challenge to find that in the country during the war when it's hard to find even quality food (not expired)...
Дякую! Це український виробник але ця модель вже точно є на складах в Болгарії і Німеччині. Лінк в описанні під відео, бо Ютюб блокує коментарі з лінками...
Oh, it's very easy! There is a "Join" button under each video or on the main page of the channel, next to the "Subscribe" button. In the window that appears, you can choose a membership level...
Do you know the story of John Smith and Pocahontas? So this is him, an English soldier and explorer Captain John Smith. He played a key role in the founding of Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in North America. He did his research and development of new lands on such a boat...
@@OlhaBatchvarov Ah yes, I remember one of my daughters many years ago watched the Disney-movie "Pocahontas" and one of the characters there was a "John Smith". I dont remember he had a boat like this though... But anyway, a nice model.

I watch your videos to see how you do things like using tools because there is ALWAYS something to learn.
I appreciate that!
The truth is, I have almost no tools on this model, because I built it on vacation, literally on my knees)))
@@OlhaBatchvarov The 'whys' and 'hows' dynamic of modeling gives the ship her personality.

Magnifique montage !! Super Ohla !...
Merci!
And not one tiny piece of photo-etch went "ping" across the room. Impressive! 😁
Oh, that part of the process remained behind the scenes)))) I definitely spent more time under the table than building this model.😁

This model, despite the fact that it is small, has a high level of difficulty - for advanced modelers.
I’m watching and learning thank you 👍
Glad to hear it

Shallops sometimes are more interesting and rewarding to build than big boats. Are you planning to build Susan Constant ?
Sometimes there is much more work with small boats than with larger models)))
