- Waymo (autonomous taxi service) recently added terminal drops off destinations at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. We take a trip from Chase Field in downtown Phoenix and navigate to the Phoenix Airport during one of busiest weekends of the year.

Lots of examples of why we need autonomous taxis with how short-tempered so many drivers are when people are just trying to merge into heavy traffic. That truck driver at 7:58 is a psycho.

Waymo is super impressive. I know its geo fenced but its cool to see it handle situations so well.

Great video, thanks! I'm not sure whether to be impressed or horrified by it's behavior at that stop sign followed by the right turn where it line jumped. As far as the airport drop off goes those situations are chaotic and difficult even for human drivers. Therefore (opinion) I think it did pretty well!

I hope waymo gets smoother and stops cutting people off. 😂 some of those maneuvers made me nervous.
Would be interesting to take a ride in the rain to check if the wipers are in use since the car doesn’t need them. If on, it would be for the passenger
there are many many videos of waymo running in the rain. yes wipers are used

did it do a double lane change after the right turn at 3:17? seems decent but i don't like how it broke the law
How does Weymo handle putting luggage in the trunk and taking it out. An airport drop without that component is useless Callas.
How would Tesla FSD handle that trip?
Tesla FSD is not programmed to do drop offs so it could go up to the terminal but the human would need to take over to do the actual drop off. And Tesla has a human driver so the human can take over if FSD messes up. Waymo does not have a human driver so it has to handle everything on its own. So it is not a fair comparison.
Airport traffic is scary and trapped in that car it was even scarier.
You're not trapped in the car you can end the ride anytime
