    Quote: "Turn the screw clockwise". He is turning the screw counterclockwise. You need to specify a reference point. The screw is upside down. clockwise from one end is counterclockwise from the other. Do you want me to back the screw out or turn it in? I assume backing it out will reduce the fast idle RPM and turning it in will increase the fast idle.

    Funny on my carb is the opposite
    To increase rpm is counterclockwise and decrease clockwise, I must have an old Holley , but it worked I was able to adjust the choke speed at the right rpm’s thanks

    • @Handlehandlebars
      @Handlehandlebars Рік тому +1

      Yea he said that backwards. If you go clockwise that will decrease idle speed....

    I've got a new Blueprint 350/375 hp with a Holley 600 on it and what he says here about adjusting the fast idle is completely backwards. I just adjusted mine and after turning the screw clockwise the idle came down so I took it counter clockwise and got it where it needs to be.

    • @Fr33dom89
      @Fr33dom89 4 роки тому

      So my 600 on cold start idles about 3000rpm and I backed the cam screw out counterclockwise the screw completely not engaging the cam and is still idling around 3000 did not change. So you're saying if I turn it clockwise it will lower the cold idle not counterclockwise?

    • @MajinQ50
      @MajinQ50 4 роки тому

      wollens worth clockwise should lower the rpm as you’re pushing the cam which cases the butterflies to close more

    • @michaelharris1455
      @michaelharris1455 4 роки тому +1

      clockwise/counterclockwise is always referred-to from the end of the screw/bolt with the head on it.
      You might be confused, as the head of this screw points down, and you're looking at it from the opposite end.

    • @danielmacpherson1630

      @@michaelharris1455 exactly! and that is what he does in the video. Clockwise from the wrong end. back it out or turn it in

    Thank you for this detailed explanation of the carburetor Choke, which I followed in my old Nissan Jeep. After installing it, I did not feel any problem in operating the engine except that there is some smoke coming out with the exhaust before the engine warms up. Is this something normal? Greetings to you from Riyadh.

    I just got a Holly road Warrior carburetor I'm having problems with the electronic choke it worked when I put it on there But now it acts like it's not getting power and all I have is a Screwdriver typelight power checker It's hooked to the ACC of the Ignition So I'm assuming it has enough power

    At cold startup, my engine will start quickly, but within seconds will start to stall if I don't goose the throttle for the next 30 seconds or so. I have tried adjusting richer, but the problem still exists. I think the problem is that the choke plate opens too far immediately after startup. There seems to be no adjustment for the choke vacuum piston travel which I think should be reduced. Please advise.

      Right here with ya. My scout starts a little sluggish, but quickly picks up to speed. after about 30 seconds, the choke plate (Which is set as far rich as possible) is left sitting wide open. The truck Idles fine, but when I drop it into gear it immediately stalls. Mind you, that as far rich as possible is only about 2 notches back from middle mark, as the stop pins prevent me from dialing back the choke anywhere near where it needs to be.

      Check your needle on the carb And flout fuel level , too much fuel can cause it to stall
      I had needles replaced and adjust the choke
      And she runs perfect again
      Also check if the holes on the air vents are not clogged , I use a little carb cleaner and a can of air dust

    Can i have little help ? My toyota carburator (2e engine) release the fast idle too quick. I set the choke to be little slower and adjust the screw of fast idle but now when its hot weather i start the engine but in 2 seconds its release it and the engine get really low and the car is cold and start bumbing and engine going off. When i press the gas and hold in on cold engine and put it there for 1 min and relase the rpm are normal because the engine is now warm.

    what if the choke plate is getting stuck on top where I can't even push it down?? this happens all the time with my holley electric carb w/ choke. my car has completely stalled while driving on a freeway and downtown because of this issue

      Is the plate binding on the sides of the choke tower? It could be that the carb has been dropped or damage somehow in the past and the choke plate doesn't have the proper clearances. Or its possible that the elec choke cap has been installed incorrectly or is damaged. Is it possible to take a pic or video and point out where the issue is? Post it to your youtube channel and let me know so i can view it. Thx J

      I saw your video, Thx! The choke plate should never close completely. Even when below zero there should still be a slight gap between the tower and the plate. Start with about and 1/8" gap when the engine has cooled overnight and before turning the key on. You can use a drill bit ( be careful not to drop the bit into the engine) or even a small diameter screw driver and place it between the choke plate and front part of the choke tower. Now loosen the 3 screws securing the electric choke cap and rotate it ccw or cw to obtain the correct gap and re-tighten the screws. This is a good starting point and can be adjusted for a more open or closed gap depending on your climate and engines preference. You should also check the entire choke system to make sure it is in working order. Do you have 12volts at the red wire going to the choke cap with the key on? Are all the linkages connected and secured? Also check to make sure that they are not binding anywhere. After the engine has warmed up to operating temp ( 180-210 f) recheck and verify that the choke plate is completely open ( standing straight up or vertical). If not you may have to re-loosen the 3 choke cap screws and adjust. This whole process may take several days to get 100% since some operations need to have a cold engine and some hot. Let me know if this helps? if you need more guidance i can do a quick video for you to watch covering the basics. Thx again J
