Brilliant, well said! Can't wait to finish my time in the Army in May and get out there. Already sold my house, so with my Armed Forces pension, Army gratuity and house sale I can make it go so much further out there, and not have to work ever again!

What a video. Best statement of the day. Could listen to you for hours as everything you've said is bang on..been going to thailand now for nearly 30 years now. . And finally. I've made the decision to move to thailand myself next year.. the uk ain't the uk no more. It's done. It's finished. It's kaput. I'd sooner wake up like you in a morning. Rather than just go down my local road in the morning. And see nothing but thieving Romanians and hoards of migrants. So. Well done to you webby. Top bloke.
Good for you my friend. I will make my move this year. I've been traveling there for twenty years plus and it's time to make it permanent. All I can say is.......what a great life. Good on ya
Yes Thailand is an amazing place I'm lucky to have the best of both worlds in the UK in the spring and summer then Thailand when the weather turns in the UK.
Good on you, Steve. From your former workmate, Austin Powers. I got 2 and a half weeks in Thailand, I'm coming over on the 29th of this month. Bangkok, Krabi, Phi Phi, and Phucket.
Aussie here. Moved permanently to Chiang Mai 6 yrs ago. Been bloody fantastic. BUT, CHIANG MAI 2024 has turned into BEIJING. Chinese EVERYWHERE. In the past 6 yrs I have NEVER seen CM as BUSY as it is now. Loi Krathong last weekend was OVER THE TOP with TOURISTS….. the traffic was like Bangkok. Normally it gets busy a week or two before Xmas/New Year but it’s 3rd week in November and it is MAXED OUT with tourists already. An ex-pat consensus is that we have seen the best of CM and it ain’t coming back. The Chinese are buying up all the Condo buildings, commercial buildings and warehouses and pushing sale and rent prices SKY HIGH, double to triple what they have always been and only selling/renting to fellow Chinese. Yep, CM has had the prawn. And you gotta ask, what’s it going to be like in 5-10 yrs time. The increased population and traffic is way OVER THE TOP NOW. Chiang Mai is DONE!!!! And observing the foreign tourists, media posers, COVERED IN TATTOOS, OBESE, with self indulgent arrogant attitudes, all a far cry from the gentility of the Thai family culture. It’s why we escaped the west years ago.m, now permeating CM…. turning it into ANOTHER HIPSTER TIKTOK LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME CLONE CITY OF WESTERN DEGRADATION……. Many original expats, including moi, are MOVING OUT. It’s ALREADY DONE… so yeah, in another 5 yrs it will be just another BANGKOK coffee shop CLONE. We LOVE (D) CM, but who wants what it is turning into?? The laid back quiet traditional Thai charm is RAPIDLY BEING DILUTED. We are thinking Siem Reap in Cambodia or Rishikesh in India ….. anywhere that’s far far away from this Chinese TIKTOK INSTAGRAM invasion…….
Thanks for your comment. You made the right decision. Life here in London is inferior and expensive, and there is poor weather. I'm traveling to Thailand in January. If I find a small business to run, I will stay, but I don't know if you have any idea. Please help, and thanks again for your comment on UA-cam.
Nearly 30 years ago I left Australia to move to the UK and everyone said I was nuts. If I had stayed in Oz I would have been still selling paint and going to the same places I had been for my whole life like my old mates are. I have an amazing life now in the UK, more money than I would have ever expected and seen so much of the world - far more than I could ever have imagined. Now I own 2 (soon to be 3) condos in Pattaya and planning to retire out there in about 3 years in my 50's - absolutely zero chance of that if I had stayed. So mate - screw everyone else, you have to take chances and good for you to have the guts to go for it - the people who give you sh1t are just scared and jealous! Have a Leo for me!
Unless a young person has very wealthy parents then they are now screwed in the UK, the game is clearly rigged. I tried to get my kids out, youngest son teaches in Vietnam, daughter is a diving instructor in the Maldives, eldest son a fireman here. That's the only other route to be OK, to be a decently paid, unsackable, irreplaceable state employee, everybody will want to work for the state and that is not good. On the positive side, l saw the sky today for the first time in 8 days. 😂

Nice one, Webby. I cannot wait to test the waters of Jomtien. I have two bulldogs that wouldn't cope with the climate, they struggle with our poxy Summers, but when circumstances allow, I will be arriving, to meet the legend, that is Alf!
You're spot on mate!! Everything you said in that vid is so true. Wish I was in a position to move out to Thailand I'm the same age as you but my life here has been one disaster after another and has left me with absolutely nothing, really Zilch.. I found the land of smiles just a few years ago and it's the only thing that keeps me going. So now I work my bollocks off everday just to get by and spend 2 month's of the year in absolute paradise Fellow welshboy, living in Newport 👍
I've lived all over Thailand including Issan and Pattaya is the best pick for me (Chiang Mai if it was by the sea). I live on the dark side, so away from all the tourist areas, but I can go to Jontein beach for a beach vibe, and I can go to Pattaya of one of the ex pat bars on this side for a party, talk to Thai and Westerners, and get my western food (I've eaten loads of Thai food, I just prefer my western clean food diet).
Gday webby, I'm flying in from Australia for the first time on the 28th, any chance of catching up for a beer and asking you some questions? I'm a first timer doing my recon on Pattaya for a possible permanent move
I’m laughing with you mate, exactly the same happened to me last year and I have been living here for 7 months now, would be interesting to have a chat about your experiences so far
All the xpatts say this.....But when the money runs out and GF leaves for the next punter just off the plane Thing suddenly look Bad.....very Bad!! Hundreds have went down this path ended up with Major Health problems with the patts lifestyle...Then its Back to the UK for FREE health Treatment!! ......Not so Bad UK now!!!! I agree with what you said 100% I have been to Thailand 15 times in the last 6 years (Excluding 20-21) And i have seen and heard a hundred horror stories especially when you hit your late sixties and and seventies , It's best just to visit 2 times a year.
Steve 👍 good for you enjoy life 😉 the only down side is elderly parents as we get to think about retirement they are getting older so we have to look after them and being 6k miles away is not good if they need your help Uk england in summer is ok but its this time of year November dark cold dammp gets a bit crap just book your flight ✈️ gives you some thing to look forward to and work 😀

I will and I get on the plane on Wednesday can’t wait . Hope to bump into you and shake your hand mate I have loved your videos and found them inspirational
What about the money? How do you get the money to be able to live in Thailand? I'm thinking of retiring in Thailand. But I can't go now without my pension. Many of us have to wait for the pension ( the finance).
What apartments is that your in Webby? it doesn't look like Pattaya, I would have guess you was on one of the islands Koh Chang or somewhere like that.
I’m from Cardiff living in Jomtien beach for 7 years, looks like your video was from Klong Kloi Beach Koh Chang stayed there many times, good Luck great place to retire 😃
Living the Dream Brother - I'm visiting in Jan - This will be my 5th trip - I plan on visiting every year from here on out - Retirement just a few years away for me -not sure about full time retirement there but for sure will be spending some long term stays
Based on retirement? You should give agents about 3 weeks before your current stay expires, to cover that for you. Your first Non Imm. O visa will be 90 days, then on top of that they`ll give you your first extension of 12 months. A total of 15 months. Then you can extend that with another 12 months every year.
Ive been going to patts off on last 20 year Sad to see all the x patts now who gave up everything for Fun in Thailand....Now creeping about the sois window shopping skint staying in bedsits or on the beach THE DREAM WELL GONE!
Currency risk. The baht/pound was 60 this first time I went to Thailand 20 years ago. To those on here with a fixed income in pounds, can you cope when the exchange rate hits mid 30s? My guess, but I wouldn't put my house on it
I would and it's been in the 30s a few years ago, and that was,for a,short time people who live here change money for a long time when the baht is high so the exchange rate ain't much of a problem
We all want a life like that, but we gotta be able to pay for it.....nothing is free.. Yes Thailand is cheap, a lot cheaper than UK for sure, but still you must pay for it... And if we are anywhere near retirement age then moving to Thailand to have that life is hard... But yes I agree, that life is a lot better than corporative life waiting for a pay day every month..
Your absolutely spot on Steve, everyone of them people who laughed deep down are crying inside 😂.... Some of the loneliest peope I know are married! Kick off the flipflops and enjoyoooo
I moved to Australia 16 years ago and my life improved immensely. Just with the sunshine and the openness and just things to do. You still have to work but it's a better environment. A lot to do with the weather. I don't really do much time at the beach but we've got a beach. It's more about having options to go out and do road trips and live your life rather than sight in front of a TV like the UK people just focused on spending money for s*** they don't need in the UK to fulfil or fill that hole with having nothing else to do , also can get to Thailand in 10 hours which is a bonus from Australia.
Well to be honest that was a reall clever move my friend great way to live good luck to you all the way most would just love your life great to see that you are bezzing. Well its rob here from cardiff wales lol great to meet you my friend good luck
Good for you! I 100% agree with you. Great video. I'm genuinely happy for you! We are in heaven by comparison. I'm from Detroit in the US. I've been living the most amazing life here for the past two years and not looking back. Everything is easily affordable, even on a small budget like Social Security. As long as you keep control of yourself, you'll be just fine. It's always summer, with clear blue sky's the majority of the year. And for you gents who are considering the move, I'll offer one coded suggestion... Never, I repeat, never bring a chopped liver sandwich to the biggest and best buffet of your life. Yes, no kidding. I hope you find a gem of a woman like I have. And, BTW, it's culturally acceptable to have a girlfriend/mistress or two on the side if you're married to a Thai woman! Do your due diligence. Come vacation here first. Control your spending and consumption. And, don't be a sucker wanting to support the bar girls. They're banging everyone in the world, literally. Usually, they already have two or more chumps they milk regularly. Here, they have everything for everybody. Nobody judges you.
Good for you enjoy i moved to thailand 5 years ago at age 59 best move i ever done live in chiang rai own house car and wife couldnt be happier PS if you coime chiang rai we could meet up lol
You got a great life bud I wish I could do it I have the money but was in a rta and have problems with walking 🚶 I can walk 50 metres then need to sit I still feel 25 but my back is gone
The currency is Piso or you'll get away with say peso. Where you concocted pasetas from defies belief. Paradise Beer Garden near the top of Walking Street is the best bar there and it's an open bar with beers at 45 Piso or least 8 years ago this was the case. Also you'd get a lady for 12-1500 pisos a night. Also you definitely made the right decision 👍

Welshman - .need some advice, please mate. 1. I'm leaving Korea (a 75 year old with medical issues). 2. I am financialy stable: $150,000 (US) cash & other liquid assets of $40,000. My military & social security pensions total $4,150 a month. 3. I have NO DEBT. 4. My med insurance is with TRICARE, a US military retirement system. My insurance co pays are capped at no more than $3,000 per fiscal year.. 5. II am well travelled, visiting cities throughout Asia, Europe, both North & South America, & I even made it to Australia once. I have lived abroad in Vietnam, Germany, Korea, Philippines, Iraq, & Kuwait. My research indicates the only Thai hospital that will process my insurance claim is in Bangkok. 1. Does Pattaya have a hospital that will process a US claim? 2. Is the cost of housing in Bangkok significantly more than Pattaya? I would like a small 2 bedroom with a private pool for no more than B22,000. I could buy my own stuff but would like a 5 year lease. 3. Living in Pattaya, a would want a car; but would use local transport; TRAFFIC is a nightmare in the city. I understand some tiny new cars can be had for less than $15,000 US. A. Is Thai car insurance reliable. B. What is the rate for comprehensive (new) vs responsibility c
Dude does this bloke sound like he'd be an expert in the intricacies of the Thai private hospital sector as it pertains to specific US insurance policies. Or a car insurance guru for that matter Anyway I'm sure he'll get around to answering all 4 of your detailed questions shortly 🙄

So now I work my bollocks off everday just to get by and spend 2 month's of the year in absolute paradise
Fellow welshboy, living in Newport 👍
I was like that for years
@welshboywebby yeah and look at you now 😃👍👌
I've lived all over Thailand including Issan and Pattaya is the best pick for me (Chiang Mai if it was by the sea).
100%
@ legend mate
I’m laughing with you mate, exactly the same happened to me last year and I have been living here for 7 months now, would be interesting to have a chat about your experiences so far
Anytime mate ill meet up for a coffee
Great stuff, I’m away on a trip for a week but I will hit you up when I get back if okay 👍
THINK LONG AND HARD BRFORE MAKING THIS MOVE.......
The NHS ain't free mate you pay you taxes well I do it funny the only thing people can say is about the NHS the uk is a shit hole the country tax you up to the hilt until you die not for me sorry
I agree with what you said 100% I have been to Thailand 15 times in the last 6 years (Excluding 20-21) And i have seen and heard a hundred horror stories especially when you hit your late sixties and and seventies , It's best just to visit 2 times a year.
Steve 👍 good for you enjoy life 😉 the only down side is elderly parents as we get to think about retirement they are getting older so we have to look after them and being 6k miles away is not good if they need your help
Uk england in summer is ok but its this time of year November dark cold dammp gets a bit crap just book your flight ✈️ gives you some thing to look forward to and work 😀
Your living in a better place than i am here in the UK Webby, heading to Thailand in December eventually hoping to live in Far East, enjoy your life webby good on you a fan in geordie land. This is my 5th trip to land of smiles
Good to hear someone's happy
All good of you have the money some of us are stuck here with zero savings and not the greatest job . currently sat outside work at 5.50 . Wishing I had enough
Gutted for you mate
I will and I get on the plane on Wednesday can’t wait . Hope to bump into you and shake your hand mate I have loved your videos and found them inspirational
Sounds great!
Fair play you are doing the right thing but it’s not really your girlfriend, if you stopped paying her she’ll soon be gone 😎
So you say I pay her where have you got that information from not me for sure
I totally agree with your outlook but how do you finance it?
What about the money? How do you get the money to be able to live in Thailand? I'm thinking of retiring in Thailand. But I can't go now without my pension. Many of us have to wait for the pension ( the finance).
Watch my other videos I explain it all
What apartments is that your in Webby? it doesn't look like Pattaya, I would have guess you was on one of the islands Koh Chang or somewhere like that.
Koh chang mate, watch my video on it, the place was beautiful
I’m from Cardiff living in Jomtien beach for 7 years, looks like your video was from Klong Kloi Beach Koh Chang stayed there many times, good Luck great place to retire 😃
Yes it was!
wish I could live there mate you have done well don't let people tell you different good luck mate.
Cheers
Living the Dream Brother - I'm visiting in Jan - This will be my 5th trip - I plan on visiting every year from here on out - Retirement just a few years away for me -not sure about full time retirement there but for sure will be spending some long term stays
Good for you! If you are happy Then that's the only thing that counts. Good luck to you.
Looking to retire out there myself soon hopefully.
No money, no Honey. Is so True
Defo
Good on ya Steve your living the dream which most people yearn for or are scared to do
A similar situation for me. Moved here 22 years ago, and not one regret .
Same I've never thought of going back
No 24 year old girl is going to bed with a 50 year old man in the UK. Just saying.
Not for free no
Correct. Would need to pay them
To right, he's money and she doesn't have a pot to piss in, been seen it done it.
No
Not in the UK
Yes, and he is enjoying his life and the girl is very happy to have a "farang"boyfriend, and she has no more problems in life.
Outstanding All Around
Cheers
Webby if you go to an agent to get an O visa how long does it take to get it
Based on retirement? You should give agents about 3 weeks before your current stay expires, to cover that for you. Your first Non Imm. O visa will be 90 days, then on top of that they`ll give you your first extension of 12 months. A total of 15 months. Then you can extend that with another 12 months every year.
@ thank you 😊
@ thank you 😊
As long as your life in Thailand doesn't involve drinking and bar girls, you probably have a good chance of having a good life in Thailand.
Well ain't done me any harm the last 2 years
@@welshboywebby just don't join the flyer's club when the novelty and fantasy wears off. You have a few more years to grow yet 🙂
Yes, it's not free. I worked 32 years on a production line to pay for it, the last 15 years dreaming about my new life in Thailand 🇹🇭
It's not for everyone.but for me & u it is 100 % in the land of smiles 😅 12 years for me happy & grateful ❤
Agree
How do you make money to live?
Your absolutely spot on Steve, everyone of them people who laughed deep down are crying inside 😂.... Some of the loneliest peope I know are married! Kick off the flipflops and enjoyoooo
Do you have an income or just living off savings?
Watch my past videos I've explained it all and promised I'll not talk about ot again
Awesome comment, thank you
I'm here in Pattaya at at the moment having a great time. 10 more days left @@welshboywebby
very nice resort, which one is that?

Thank you
Good for you!
Your living the dream .wish i had the balls to do the same. Enjoy lad.
You got a great life bud I wish I could do it I have the money but was in a rta and have problems with walking 🚶 I can walk 50 metres then need to sit I still feel 25 but my back is gone
You're a bloody legend Webby....... spot on with all of your comments, well done mate.
Cheers
😃
Cheers mate thank you
You keep going man, I think you are living the dream
Can’t beat it in Thailand.
Thanks for the great advice! I’m flying out tn for my 2 week millionaire experience. Congrats on your gfs bday!
Enjoy the ride .....😂
@ I hope to 😎
I’m from New York and I’m woking my way back there now to retire soon
Hope it all goes well
The currency is Piso or you'll get away with say peso.
Cheers
You are living my dream webby , congrats on living the good life 😊
I am!
Well done Steve your leaving the dream , love your vlogs and lives . The community you have built up through your U-Tube channel is helping other like minded people . Keep up the good work and don’t worry about the trolls .
im 33 and I'm planning my move to Thailand.
Wow
Well done Webby, I'd love to do it too but don't have the big redundancy payment, the wealth, or heavy pensions. Brilliant video cheers.
A hospital in Pattaya city called ‘ Bangkok Hospital’ could be worth a try .
Dude does this bloke sound like he'd be an expert in the intricacies of the Thai private hospital sector as it pertains to specific US insurance policies.
Or a car insurance guru for that matter
Anyway I'm sure he'll get around to answering all 4 of your detailed questions shortly 🙄
