I had a much harder time putting on the casters in vlog 071 on my channel but eventually I found a solution. Happy to say the cart has been great a few months later on my productions.
I've been using the XL as a generic production cart for a while now. I took the stock wheels on a gravel driveway and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I really appreciate seeing how to mod the wheels, I was trying to figure out how to swap them. I also discovered that the Pelican Vault V550 case fits perfectly on the cart.
I am curious about how well the 3D printed adapters hold up. I love using 3D prints to create otherwise difficult solutions- I do it on a weekly basis… but putting an entire cart on top of a print I would be leery of.
Tip of the day: To prevent your drill bit from sliding around when starting your hole use a small nail, awl, or center-punch to made a small indentation. If you don't have those, at least pre-drill using a thinner bit.
awesome video! Imo production carts are overpriced af ... i film sometimes on expos and as long at it is not marketed for filmmakers, super sturdy carts are way cheaper when they are marketed for workshops etc
100% True... but at the same time, this is the first time I've ever needed to cut a rod. Rather save the money on a cheap tool you hardly use and spend more time cutting. "Buy cheap tools until you know what you really need from that tool, then buy the best version you can afford." -Adam Savage
You sound like you don't want to go to Home Depot... You do know that if you play it right, you can hang out there all day with no one the wiser, right? 😉😉 Also, that looks like just a good general production cart!
I would buy the cart but won't after my recent experience with Service Repair Manager Christine Huang at Deity. Because of her I'm thinking of throwing all my Deity equipment off a cliff. I asked if she could tell me how to connect my w.lav mic to an XLR port on a sound mixing board. Her reply, "Do you have any pictures of the soundboard you mentioned? We don't know what it looks like. 😂 Is it the Piano soundboard?" shows she had no clue. I don't believe it's best practice to laugh at your customers. Multiple insulting emails later she had no answer. I have to say that Rode was very helpful.
What DIY project do you want to see next?!
DIY Sound Devices Scorpio please
How can I use the vo-7u podcast mic with a Zoom H5N or a Mix Pre 3

Nice! Definitely a solid starting model.
I lucked up and got this cart on Amazon for about $50 a couple of years ago (before it was popular). Wish I had purchased 5!!
Amazing video. You are the DIY cart OG!
Andrew, you're brilliant! What a great idea for a show and your description and choices are spot-on!
I used the original cart you built! Now I’m setting up the milwaukee pack out system as a sound cart.
love to see it! thank for thinking about low budgeting. I wonder if sound speeds will react to this
This is great Andrew!
duuuuuuude thanks for this i was debating on hacking one of these carts for production. about to do a pelican case like yours right now
This is so awesome! Thank you for making this!
This is a great looking cart and a super helpful video! Thanks for putting this together

Not a sound guy but I love me a good DIY project, great job! :)

Do I need a dedicated audio cart? No. Do I want one now? Yes!
This video is amazing! I’m just thrown off by the 3D parts. Can I buy them somewhere?
Do you guys have an update on when the Theos Digital Wireless will be available for preorder and shipping?
Tomorrow
@@DeityMicrophones great timing I guess 😅
Bravoo 👏👏👏👏
Too bad, here in Brazil I can't find this cart😔

They have held up very well but we also use carbon fiber filament which is incredibly strong. Stronger than most plastic mold injection parts.
What would a Budget sound Cart look like for someone who’s starting out on n making short films for UA-cam like as far as a set up for doing sound?
This setup can be done piecemeal.
Would this build work with the standard Olympia Cart 85-188 pack and roll?
Hey I am trying to build this but in Germany i cannot find the Olympia XL anywhere :( if someone knows a solution I would be suuper grateful!! :(((
Great thumbnail 😂
Hold L1 and press Square, Circle, Up, Left, Left

hola, buena evolución... saludos desde chile... (tengo un sistem similar en mi carro)
Casters = Harbor Freight. Much cheaper there that at the Depot. ;)
The casters are from Amazon. and Harbor Freight doesn't stock the wheels we needed.
@@DeityMicrophones Sadness. 😞
This is amazing! Looking for someone to do this for me for a fee.
Invest in a porta-band. Would have literally cut those rods in 10 seconds.
