That was a life saver- thank you! I somehow magically got the cover off a different way, but have been trying to figure out how to get it back on for the last 30m. Thank you!!
Thank you for putting this video on. I had difficulty not only to remove the cover but also putting it back. Almost gave wanted to use only the rubber elastic until I discovered your video and tips. Thank you.
Thanks very much. Amazing that BMW didn't think to tell you this - otherwise it just doesn't go back in!! Mind you, they lack commosense on many things and the manual is badly written.
Exactly what I needed. (Yeah, I know ... sob story, all about me, but I'm going to tell it anyway - call it venting if you like!) I developed bilateral foot drop, which mean't for a few months, I didn't have enough upward lift in my feet - particularly my left foot, to even change gears. Too dangerous to ride until healed. So ... flat battery. Still recovering but feeling like I'm ready to try. (Bike is new - I've only put 3000Kms on it, so you can imagine how much I am missing the ride) The garage where I keep the bike doesn't have a power outlet (don't ask), so I need to remove it and take the battery somewhere I can charge it. Purchased a charger today, and went searching for how to remove the battery ... how I got here. Thank you so much. This is my mission for tomorrow! Is there anything I need to know about resetting the electronics on the bike after re-installation of the battery? (2023 BMW R1250 GS)
Man.. Stoked your getting well and back out there. I know the feeling. I broke a leg when I was racing motocross and didn’t ride for 6 months. I’m not the best with electrical, but it was pretty basic for me. Just unscrew and screw back in. Ride safe!
@@AmericanAbroad1 Yes, luckily my mate had a booster. It was my fault.. i've got massive lights which drained the battery too much. Taught me a lesson on many fronts :)
Yes it really helped. This is the type of simple thing that might take you hours if you don't know the "trick". So useful to have guys like you taking the time to post informative videos like that. Really appreciated! @@AmericanAbroad1
The rubber Grommet that is on the top right, that the cover plugs into can be pushed out and lost. Use a very small nylon tie to secure it and not have it fall out.

Totally. I wish Bmw would have decent videos on servicing your bike, but then what I’m the world would UA-camrs do hahaha
Manual? who reads the manual?

Brilliant. My battery died whilst off-road and it took me forever to figure it out... lol. Thank you

Some silicon spray helps keep these good also
Thank you, I feel like I'm ready to do it by myself now!
You can do it!
Something like this can leave a brother stranded.
Watching this video could prevent you from having a very bad day.
Haha yes definitely. Before I figured it out I was one of those stranded brothers haha
Thank you was going crazy putting that stupid thing on 😅
I feel that hahaha
