- Whilst at the Adventure Overland Show, we met Simon and Allison who own this Crown Mid-engined American School bus.
They were kind enough to let us have a look around and even give us a tour, giving great insight into it's conversion from Skoolie to Full-time travelling home and what it's like to own such a rare and cool vehicle.

What a lovely home, I'd NEVER have the nerve to ask for a tour of someone else home.
Expat based in England. Grew up in 80s riding big yellow buses. Very cool 😎
I stumbled upon this video! So glad i did. I'm a Brit living in Arizona and I own a Crown supercoach just like this one. I'll put a link to it so you can see another. Great bus to live and travel in. Thanks guys.
You can find my bus at...1974 Crown skoolie conversion!
They have done a cracking job with this conversion. We did an International B1600 School Bus is 1982, whic had a V8 petrol engine I sold it and my daughter's always wanted me to do another.
Thanks for sharing and keep em coming Connor and many thanks to the owners for allowing you to video it.
Ps the engine I think is a GM 6.71 laid on its side the 6.71 sounds absolutely gorgeous on full throttle.
One of few vehicles you've shown with the steering wheel on the correct side. 👌😉
Cant beat a old school bus conversion they are just beautiful
Amazing! Love it!
I project Amber really great video that camper American school bus was epic really great video really looking forward to seeing your next video keep safe 😷👍🏻
This is f***in cool!
I met these two and the bus about a month ago lovely couple ❤️💙
What a nice van and couple
My favorite thing is the yellow fridge
Thanks for sharing, that's an amazing bus. Very nicely done.
Spoke to a guy on a campsite in Canada who was doing an ongoing bus conversion. He said he used a school bus because it was built stronger because of the ( little ) people it was going to carry ,made alot of sense to me.
Lovely to live in on a piece of land as a static vehicle (if you can get planning permission in the UK), but your also restricted on where you can park and manoeuvre as a full time travelling vehicle in the UK.
I rode on a bus like that to school as a child.
Fire bomb, great idea.
Amazing. Looks super homely and quaint. I know someone who's looking to do something like this.
Fantastic conversion.
So happy you are making videos…. Thank You ! 🌀♥️🌀
Driving that around England would be a nightmare...lovely build though...😊👍
Pisses me off a bit that some peeps have had a furlough jolly camper conversion experience while some of us have had to work our nads off all through Covid, I'm in the wrong profession obviously.
What a beautiful bus, maybe you and Emma’s next project to do a bus conversion!!!
Your van is way better bud !!!!
Awesome bus
Fabulous
Henry's tripicool will keep your roof cool and drop the temp by a decent amount.
Crown is unfortunately out of business now, but they had the same basic design for decades, that's why they have that "look" that's from the forties, and the look hardly changed at all from the fifties until they ceased production in the nineties. They were known to be very sturdy and reliable, and were used until a few years ago in California because of their incredibly unclean exhaust that couldn't be upgraded at least not economically. My understanding is that most are crushed but there are a few owned by collectors, and I think a few more are still in service here and there.
Crown was based in LA and growing up there (Orange County) in the Seventies, they dominated both the school bus and fire truck scene in Southern California then. The busses then looked just like the one here, even though much older.
Very nice... I get the feeling you might have wanted a closer look at the engine.. but nevertheless the "vanlife" setup is brilliant...
If that stole the show then it couldn’t of been a very good show, still as always each to their own...
Very nice 😎
Saw a yellow school bus, thought camping with Steve. Hunker Down.
Do we all watch the same people?
I hope they have lots of step 2's in that fridge
Yella Dawg conversion… Navistar builds International school buses not 10miles from where I sit at a converted WW2 aircraft plant at Tulsa International Airport.
Since Oklahoma is such a huge natural gas producer most of our urban school buses are CNG. The bus yards take all night for a small compressor to fill the fleet.
Need to see more of the misses.Great video though..😊
good vid keep up the good vids stay safe lee
Cj make a Vidio to raise awareness of the wild camping ban in the U.K.
Morning did I see you parked up just outside daventry Monday afternoon?
I just hear Johnny Vegas
What do you guys make of the upcoming van dwelling laws in the UK?
Got a question. How did you attach your roof rack? Deck ? I was going to use riv nuts. But did you use glue as well? Thanks
Hi I used a riv nut and hockey pucks and made the z brackets as the roof is not flat also silicon and thread lock
@@simonsmithson2566 thanks putting one on my ambulance and my roof isn't exactly flat either.
That bus would never make it down the track in Portugal! Amber is better!
👍🏻
But where can you actually use this thing?
In the UK, 99% of parkups will be impossible for you. Most campsites will probably also say no (although i don't use campsites so not totally sure)
Edit - that thing would stand no chance in a UK winter
(unless you're cheating and live on a campsite with unlimited shore power)
Go check there UA-cam out they just started #queenbeeskoolie
Where's Emma?
I can ship you a way better bus already converted...
Overkill. Nice project completed. But impractical for 99%.
