      Firstly, great job as always.
      Second, if I were to give a bit of a challenge to you, can you give artful dodger guides with the HBG's roll in mind? While it has the same amount of s as other rolls, the fact it has a longer recovery time makes some of your tips worthless simply because you would need to roll twice in quick succession. Thanks! :D

    I went from getting absolutely womped fairly quickly to beating barioth on my first try after watching this. I love this video series, thank you taking the time to make these. I think they really highlight the core gameplay of adjusting your fight to the monster instead of obsessing about builds and buffs to get the job done.

    One thing I can add is the roaring leap has asymmetric hitbox on Baritoth's claws. During the initial preparation animation of the roaring leap, Barioth puts one claw in front and the another behind. The claw baritoh putted behind will be lifted during the leaping animation, results in elevated hitbox. As long as your are in a rolling animation, the elevated hitbox wouldn't touch you. No is needed. You can even walk under the hitbox if the barioth is big enough.

    I can't believe this channel has just 10k subs. You, my friend, are a true monster hunter connoisseur. The effort you put in the videos is absolutely incredible, there are multiple clips of the moves with slow-mos showing how and when to dodge. You have studied all the moves of the monsters and all the information is accurate, valuable and provided at a leisurely pace so that the viewer can absorb everything in.
    The Artful Dodger series is a gem for monster hunter enthusiasts and I am glad that I found the brilliant channel. I wish you all the success in the world and I know such in-depth videos take a lot of research and work on your part but I think it would help you and the viewers a great deal if you could add all the monsters in the Artful Dodger series. You have already covered most elder dragons and top tier monsters, however, you can start adding other monsters as you did with barioth, perhaps, add Brachydios next with raging brachydios soon joining the roster. It would be truly amazing if we had a comprehensive guide for all the monsters in mhw in the Artful Dodger series. That way your videos would pop up, regardless of which monster people search for to find help or to learn their move sets in depth.

    Thank god for this series
    I couldn't agree more about your viewpoint with dealing with the monster's mechanics and teaching people how to fight the monster, instead of relying on tools and other temporary factors to deal with the monster.
    I started doing TA on all of my hunts (a bit excessive, I know) mainly because I wanted to get better at the fights without relying on tools and traps to carry me through them. I now have no problem dealing with any monster, and the tools only enhance my hunting experience, which I definitely feel is how they should be - extra help and not a crutch.
    I don't encourage everyone to do TA; it's not for everyone, but I do suggest people to stop relying on armour skills to save them and instead rely on your own personal skills to overcome the challenges - the game feels so much more rewarding this way.
    Keep doing what you're doing Tax !

      @@Taxman_HH Well my first hunt was a "47 minute & cart twice" bit of a mess.
      I think the 'safe zone' advice was the most help personally. My second run I still carted but that was because I was trying to guard point things with charge blade. Even then it was like 25 minutes instead of almost timing out.
      I'm still learning how to position to counterattack as Barioth jumps around but my last hunt I didn't get hit hardly at all & took it down in under 20 min.
      It helped to have the timings & dodging techniques broken down as well though because that saved me taking hits figuring it out through trial & error on my own.
      All in all definitely a good video & I'd recommend it to any friend who was having a hard time 👍

    I definitely appreciate guides like this. I think they are the most complete ones I've seen so far in helping to understand the matchup. I think the only thing missing is what are triggers for monsters to do what they are doing. This way players could avoid the monster doing things they don't want it to do in the first place. If you add that part, this will pretty much be a complete guide to how to beat a monster.

    The people behind TA rules and you share similar opinion about the game.
    By not using OP tools like trap or temp/rocksteady mantle. The game really feel lot lot better.
    This series really helpful (CB main here), even that I rarely need to use roll. It will super useful for me to understand move-set of a monster.

    • @aswinottapilavil495
      @aswinottapilavil495 4 роки тому +1

      Linh Pham I don’t think that’s what he meant. He didn’t mean we shouldn’t use those tools in the game and using them takes something away from the game but what he meant is how a guide should be teaching the ways to deal with the monster in the most core way rather than just telling people to just slot in a skill, use mantles or make a certain build coz it’s just merely stating the obvious. Instead once you learn to deal with the monsters by exploiting the move set you can always use those additional things to make the hunt more comfortable. I think in general MH community doesn’t understand the difference between tips and guides, telling someone to slot in a skill or using a counter build is just giving tips. When I used to play BB or souls, “boss guides” are basically move by move breakdown and how to effectively counter them, but I rarely see those in MH community, people just like to tell you a build or what mantle to use.

    • @ospiritt
      @ospiritt 4 роки тому +1

      @@aswinottapilavil495 I agreed with you. It's just personal preference. Neither me or OP telling people to stop using tools.
      But rather hinting that the game better when you face the monster without any OP tools. The game become something different than what you used to know. To me it feel like a dance with monster. In my guess it why the series named as "artful"

    @Monster Hunter World PH Elites Some things you missed:
    When Barioth's fangs are broken, the Jump Slam doesn't do tremor anymore, making dodging it far more forgiving.
    Also when his fangs are broken, the Ice Tornado doesn't linger. Not sure if that would make it able to be d, but it's good to know.
    For his Roaring Leap, you can actually dodge through it by dodging through the space in between his wings while he's in the air. This is mostly good for ranged weapons.

    This is what a monster guide is supposed to be, detailing the move set itself and how best to deal with it, instead of just giving ancillary tips or saying things like use the clutch claw, use flash pods and mount him, those should be a given but what’s much more important is understanding the moveset.

    Fantastic video on a frustratingly fast monster. As someone who has played the series since Tri, I am still, over 400 hours into World/Iceborne, struggling with the speed of monsters in this game. One thing I would be interested in your covering is how exploit openings or dealing with monsters that don't have many openings. These artful dodger guides have been incredibly useful but I still find myself, especially with hunting horn, getting punished just for taking advantage of an opening a monster gives as most attacks allow them recover faster than the time it takes for me to complete a single attack animation. Hunting Horn is one of my favorite weapons to use but how slow it is combined with the speed of monsters in this game has it difficult to justify myself using it in most hunts when other weapons I play are safer. I'm curious what tips you can give regarding this issue and what I can do to improve.

      Taxman here:
      More or less you are already doing the counters properly but your issue could be stemming from the possibility that you may not be doing the counter attacks as fast as it should be. Ideally, you would like to do counter attacks when the monster is still in the brink of doing its last move's recovery animation, not when the monster has already returned to its neutral idle position (he is ready to make the next move).
      If anything, the best way to learn is to see how others do it and see which moves they punish and which moves they don't punish. I would suggest taking a look at Hunting Horn TA Wiki speedruns for any specific monster in this link iceborne.seiken.io/quests/

      @@Mister_Taxman Thank you very much for the reply! I have been watching a lot of speedruns on youtube and generally learned of openings or ways of avoiding certain moves that I wasn't aware of, although it's hard to judge myself in the moment what exactly I am doing wrong, but this is a good place to start. Keep up the great work.

      @@scorpiopede its a good idea to record your runs and review afterwards. You'll see a lot of things you normally won't in the heat of the hunt. Hope this helps!

      @@Taxman_HH Thank you, one additional tip I would ask for is dealing with monsters that have a lot of really fast attacks. One example from recently is Velkhana since her ice beams come out so incredibly fast, and using hunting horn means I need to be close to her face and thus in range from those attacks. This still ties into the previous comment on openings and taking advantage of them and it makes her probably my least favorite elder dragon to face.

    I think the worst part most us had with Barioth was optimizing our dodges so we'd be in range to punish after attacks. He'd start break dancing for a minute and we get no damage in. Then do that stupid charge / flying thing and create this 5 mile gap. Most of us would just lose patience and start blindly bee lining at him and thats when we get destroyed.
