Why is Oscar's theory only half health bar? AFAIK, it's pretty much been confirmed that it was the original design for him. There's a cut dialogue for Oscar when you encounter him after beating Gwyn. It will differ whether you chose to link the fire or become the dark lord. Also, it's speculated that they reason why the dev's message that you see around Lordran has a knight image was because it was supposed to represent Oscar as he helps you throughout your journey. I'm not sure why he was cut but it would have been a very impactful event to have the person who's been helping you from the start to become your final opponent.
i’ve been thinking abt mimics a lot lately and while them being from oolacile is plausible, i think they could also be creations or followers of velka. they have very similar shapes to the crow demons found in the painted world, avarice is also one of the seven deadly sins and velka is the godess of sin. it’s a reach but i think it’s interesting
You have to take in consideration the new information from ds3, the painted world is the place of unwanted things, so the requirement to getting in is to have no place in the normal world. I'm pretty sure is known fact that the painted world was the first area created in the game, that's why it's similar to the asylum, also back then Priscilla was supposed to be the main character
@@SpongeChadSquareJaw if you're asking about the information in Priscilla and the painted world, it's in an interview and some articles as well, I've come across those years ago therefore I don't have the links anymore but they do exist, and I'm pretty sure it's a well known fact as well, I'm pretty sure Vati and other creators have mentioned too
Actually, the doll is a really strong plot device both in DS1 and DS3. In my opinion it is a representation of comfort, as the paining is supposed to be a refuge for the forlorn. In DS3 it is hinted that anyone with a will strong enough, searching for a sense of belonging, will end up finding themselves in the painting through some mean, so maybe the doll only forces this effect. Also, it's possible that multiple dolls exist. And also paining residents can drag others inside, like Gael did.

That being said i really enjoyed the videos hadn't heard half of these theories. Some Dark Souls commentaries can be really conflicting when the narrator doesn't have a decent grasp on English or the lore, between that and the questionable translations from Japanese it can get quite convoluted.
9:08 I think Logan's name is actually referencing "Logan stones" which are giant stones that can be rocked by hand; associated with witchcraft. Logan is closer to a witch than a wizard - the hiding of the face is reminiscent of the Mask of Velka and the Billed Masks of the Sealers, as well as the Sages and Scholars in DS3, it represents ego-denial.
prompt swap, the glitch at the start of the video, can be performed with just a controller using options and brightness instead of quit out, can't remember how to describe it but muscle memory would probably let me do it pretty easily still
15:34 the wheel skeleton is a berserk refrence down to the attaks used by them, not saying berserk might not have gotten the idea from the torture method
Yeah, the Coffin in cemetery of ash is Yhorm’s, but it was from and earlier version for he game when he was the tutorial boss. He went by a different name at that time.
In the last video there is the ash lake portal theory, I believe that this could be the reason why patches is in demons souls, dark souls, and blood borne. He could be using the portals to go to other worlds. Maybe patches is the one who destroyed the broken tree for unknown reasons.
ehhhh maybe, but that would easily also bring armored core 4 into the darksouls universe since that's where patches originates, and it would of course allow for kings field to be a part of darksouls since the moonlight great sword and a dragon named seath are in both. so I'm not saying no and its a cool idea just saying it's kind of improbable.
2:35 you can do it with a controller by hovering over the brightness menu and press rb/r1 and A/X also keep the souls in the second slot down and when it asks you to pick a specific quantity to use put the max

the boulder moving on its own made my first play through so much harder and more scary. not only was it harder to get around the fortress but it made it feel like there was someone watching me who was controlling the lever and running away when I got close. which made me feel really fucking uneasy to be like watched and sabotaged by someone I couldn't find
i think you were actually right about kalameet not being something devs expected players to kill without gough. with that being said, from soft put in LOADS of fail safes for the fact that they realized theres no way they can account for everything, and i believe the Gough voice line was one of those failsafes. its just one of the only ones that features a dialogue, but it makes sense because it removes the possibility of people running that cutscene and possibly respawning kalameet. the box at firelink is a good example of that. there are ways to destroy items using glitches and exploits that were too vast to prepare for, thus creating a need for that box.

On the souls duplication glitch you do NOT need a mouse if you move the item you want to duplicate to the second slot on the item menu page, this will cause the item to be the selected item during the glitch without having to use a mouse to navigate to it
Pinwheel isn't actually an easy boss, but a tough one meant to be fought at the beginning of the game, for players who chose to go to the Catacombs first.
Did you watch the first video? If Tarkus was skilled enough to reach the top of Sen's Fortress, it's unlikely he would fall in an area with so few hazards by comparison. I still like the theory of him being tossed through the window by the Iron Golem, with him dying on impact when hitting the floor next to the painting.

Just wanted to add that rather than yhorm being buried in ds1, it's more likely he isn't even born yet. So the coffin existed before yhorm had died, or even possibly lived Afaik the chosen undead would be the second to link the flame, and yhorm would also do so an undisclosed time after.
Didnt Havel actually fail at trying to kill a god or something like that? I believe hearing about that at some point, referring to his gear and an occult club being in some chests in Anor Londo.
It's speculated. It's unclear if he was Havel himself, or his followers. As the armor set sitting beside the Occult Weapon, is noted to be the armor that HIS warriors wore.
Just wanted to point out that since the painted world was used as a place where people and things were banished to/imprisoned in; it's likely that there is some other way of getting into the world other then Priscilla wanting something from you.
I don’t think pinwheel’s arena is Yhorms coffin for one main reason: Gwyn was the first to end the age of ancients , and the first to link the fire , and during the events of ds1 is the only person to have linked the fire, therefore Yhorm wouldn’t have linked the fire yet , and likely didn’t until some point between after DS1 and before DS3
I played through Sens for the first time about a month ago. I learned that the boulders changed directions on their own, toward the area that the player was in, pretty quickly. I was also killed while looking at my inventory right next to the boulder launcher, since it suddenly changed direction towards me on its own lol. Too bad I was so late to enter the community. It might've just been called "Niskinator boulder lever"
For the Tarkus and Painted World theory, i don't believe the peculiar doll is the only key to enter the painting, since there is a Berenike Knight in there, like, if one is in there, i don't see it unlikely that Tarkus could've made it in. Plus Sen's Fortress > the rafters in Anor Londo in terms of difficulty.

You know, I knew the levers moved on their own but I always chalked that up to the whole 'time being convoluted' thing and assumed that some phantom was moving it.
I believe the coffin belongs to a different Giant. Perhaps Gough or one of his ilk. It just can't be Yhorm. Yhorm is a lord of cinder, which means he linked the flame. If the Chosen Undead is the first to link the flame, Yhorm must be born into the world after, when the curse lifts and before the fire fades again in 3. Therefore Yhorm can't be the corpse from Pinwheel's coffin.
well yhorm wouldn’t be in his coffin during ds1 because he hadn’t died to link the flame until after the chosen undead - i’m not entirely sold on the pinwheel coffin being yhorm’s but it’s still info to consider
your videos are awesome. I'm waiting for the Dark Souls III episode !!!! Also, you could associate with CE dataminers like Zullie to try and dig deeper on yet unresearched topics.
I think that the peculiar doll is just a game mechanic, because in dark souls 3 you can enter a painted world without any item and without even the full painting, only needing to touch a piece of it
its most likely to enter the painted world you need an item owned by one imprisioned there in japanese lore objects have souls, remember, and form bonds to owners its likely playing off of this because the doll and priscilla are linked it is maybe seen as part of the prisoner so the painting swallows it and anyone carrying it up. this would also explain why the entry is so violent [other than the DS devs seeming to love that dragged through a portal gag] or this could be a purposeful retrieval method in case they need to release a prisoner
A lot of these theories are pretty baseless. The thought process is there, but there is no proof. There is the same proof of Tarkus going to Ariamis that he could have just fell off the rafters or got ambushed. Also, the Yhorm one is definitely not true. We are the second one to link the fire (we kill Gwyn so obviously), and Yhorm is said to have linked the fire long ago (as of DS3) and then died only to be resurrected in a last ditch effort. How could he have already linked the fire and died if he wasn't even born yet and we are the second to link the fire?????
One question I want answered is, where do the souls of Lords come from? We're they conjured with the the first flame, or were they dumped in by a previous being in a cycle prior to the one we start our journey in?
I have a theory that no one has speculated upon ever since the games release. It's about The Witch of Izalith and her daughters of chaos. It does contain holes, but I think it is still interesting. How could he have already linked the fire and died if he wasn't even born yet and we are the second to link the fire?????
You can do the soul duping glitch without a mouse you just need a controller
Maybe Tarkus took off his armour, stuffed it on a corpse for safekeeping, and stayed with Priscilla
Video posed. Question 4 every 1 if u where the mimic chest hat. N this the hidden body magic. Will u tern in 2 a mimic box?
One question I want answered is, where do the souls of Lords come from? We're they conjured with the the first flame, or were they dumped in by a previous being in a cycle prior to the one we start our journey in?
They came from the first flame.
All souls came from the flame. They were the fuel. That's why linking the fire strengthens the fire.
The item duplication I'm pretty sure you can do it with just a controller cause I used to do it but with the option menu
definetly sounded like you were saying iceberg to me adn that was the context regardless so to even say it sounded like icebejr is quite a presumption
I have a theory that no one has speculated upon ever since the games release.
It's about The Witch of Izalith and her daughters of chaos. It does contain holes, but I think it is still interesting.
I will be typing a reddit post about it, but if you are interested, like the comment and I'll throw it here too.
You can do the duplication glitch with just a controller
Now I finally know why they call him "Big Hat Logan
Tarkus fell from the rafters above.. his armor was too heavy
There’s a better way to do the dup glitch then what was showcased here it’s better because you can see the menus better without having to hover over two different things
Man, I love your content!
I already knew about the little hollow thing cause, well I think you can guess just by looking at my name
Tarkus is fookin legend lad...a legend
I’m sad that Oscar wasn’t like that in game
But also, Big Hat Logan wears a big hat.
On the souls glitch only a controller is needed just press a and rb at the same time
Subbed and set notifications, I like your content, commentary style, and voice! Your last three videos have made for great listens :)
Underrated content creator
As for pinwheel, it’s kinda obvious it’s a coffin lol you normally don’t need to explain the obvious
You beautiful boy this video was great. Now you just need to surpass VaatiVidya and become the new lore man
Thanks but that's an impossible task!
Been enjoyin' these, interesting to hear the theories! Completely off-topic, but, coming from a Fatal Labyrinth fan (Dark Souls for old, old folk😄), if you think Mimic Chests are bad, try Ghost Swords. The Stuff Of Nightmares; wish FromSoftware would've chucked these into 1 of the Soulsbourne games!!
4:40 Yes!
Im not insane!
