Kind of an unwritten rule that if you cover the Beatles, that you better do it f****** right. You do it right.
UMPHR3Y at least someone understands.
To have the balls to attempt "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" at Abbey Road Studios and to do a killer version is simply stunning.
A band I was in in the late 90s used to do a cover of the entire Abbey Road along with our originals. We played I Want You She's So Heavy at a house party at my Co-op and got so loud at the end the windows in the house were rattling...fun times. :)
Look up John Ziegler She's so heavy outtro on UA-cam...freaken amazing. Will knock your socks off
not only that, but literally in the same room the Beatles cut (parts of) the original track in.
Dan Cervo Agree
It's flawless. Plus live, one take and no heavy overlays like the original. Unbelievable!
This is arguably the best and most respectful Beatles cover. Ever.
Man, I totaly agree.
They are truly great. But check out the Zoombeatles. Good as well.
If you think this is good then go see The Last Shadow Puppets cover,. they love covering Beatles

Agreed!
I’ve gotta say, I always thought Umph was “just another jam band” until someone played me this, and it blew my freaking mind. The talent, the passion, the soul, the precision, the flair, it’s all just super top notch. One of my favorite covers of all time. Really exemplifies what excellent musicianship looks like to me.
Yes indeed 😊
I had the same experience.
I can't begin to properly express how insanely awesome this cover is.
Vocals missed the mark, I think
@@steveelim you're fking high
@@steveelimreally? I disagree but maybe I'm missing something. I thought the harmonies were amazing.
Holy... I put this on trying to have some background music while I got some work done. I just sat here with my jaw open for 7 minutes and got nothing done. Wow. I gotta listen to more of these guys.
I found this just after I lost my mind hearing them do "Shine On You Crazy Diamond". Love how the guitarist Is true to the original but somehow adds himself to it. I want more.
We are unanimous in that 💯. I've heard Pink Floyd live - watching this lead guitarist put his soul into Shine On gave me goosebumps
Yeah, you haven't heard ANYTHING until you hear "Voodoo Chile" with Billy mutha fuckin Strings!
Yes, excellent observation. He is true to original but while adding something magical without disrupting the commitment to the original.
It takes balls to take on Beatles heavy numbers
The best version of this song you’ll ever hear.

Agreed!
I mean this is fantastic. I'm a HUGE Abbey Road fan and I'm absolutely blown away by this. So well done. Thanks for doing justice to Ringo too, btw. So impressed with this!
I know I'm incredibly late to the party but UM are rapidly becoming one of my all time favourite bands - and I still haven't heard a huge amount by them. But what I have heard...... what a band! What a groove!
Welcome! I can't properly put into words how talented these cats are. I mean I know everyone's opinion of music is subjective but no one can seriously question the sheer amazing talent of this band. They have mastered the art of playing live together in a band. They sync perfectly on every track whether ots a cover or original. Enjoy the ride!
Holy shit...my favorite band covering my favorite song from my favorite album. THANK...YOU
Abby road was the best Beatles album, out of the whole lot of their masterpieces. The world so needs real music again. What you hear on the radio, isn't music. Frank Zappa.
Okay, this is epic.
seriously rockin'!
Pretty damn great.
***** , you got me spun around the axle with Umphrey's McGee.
I've never heard them before.
I'm completely fixated on this 13 part show.
ua-cam.com/video/i6YDBkhVMcU/v-deo.html
I did the same thing, they impressed me right away, not that long ago. I think I watched that whole show as well.
***** I was at the 1999 show the night prior - first time I had seen them live - walked away impressed as hell. Not too many bands have caught my attention in the last few years like UM. Can't wait to listen to the Abbey Road album.
how does this not have MILLIONS of views?????????????
This made my eyes tear up. These guys are wonderful.
as a betlemaniac I just wanna say that this is epic, one of the best Beatles cover ever , wonderful !!!
You guys need to stop making us all look bad!!! Lol that was insane! Great work :)
instablaster.
The bass line is insane, just started picking up bass and didnt realize how in depth it gets
Do you mean Paul McCartney's bass line? Yeah!, it is...
Absolutely fucking fantastic.
what a ending my goodness
That opening harmony check 2 seconds into the video literally shoved my pre-conceived notions and doubts about what kind of cover this would be up my ass... Holy hell was that a great performance!
You guys totally nailed this, in addition to making fantastic original material, you guys are the best cover band on the planet, bar none.
The keyboards throughout and Jake's guitar solo during the outro puts this cover over the top. This is one of my favorite Beatles songs, but ... DAMN!
Perfectly stated! Exactly how I feel about it. It's a masterpiece.
Singed is fantastic, bass is vibing, guitar killing it, drummer making it look easy; perfect cover.
Holy crap, did these guys do this in one take? It sounds freaking amazing!
doubt it
@@retiredfirefighter415 They actually did. They had a 10 hour slot at AR and did a live record. The London Sessions.
No live performance isn’t without some sort of Studio Manipulation….
@@cbennett196631 Completely untrue.
@@cbennett196631 uh, yeah, it’s called sound engineering
The ever amazing Umph nails it again. Phenomenal!
what an honor it was to listen to this, they really payed tribute & respected the song & even added to it imo.
Dumbfounded,,,these boys are fantastic...the real deal !!!
I finally found a Beatles song I like. Thanks to these guys. Good job.
I just got the London season on vinyl sounds amazing they did the hole album in 12 hours at Abby road !!!!! just amazing for a band to be able to do that truly a great band
Completely paying homage to one of the greatest rock songs of all time. Nice job gentlemen!
This is so fucking epic. Man that piano is killing it!!
Absolutely crushed. Even better then the few times I've seen them do it. Each player was superb. Jake's solos and that dead stop end...... Jaw on floor. Thank you UM for doing what you do.
WoW, the timing here is done so well. Also have to give a lot of the credit to the mixing. The band is really synchronized.
OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!
the piano player who came back from heaven to lend his smartness to the rest of us. thank you kindly.
Absolutely fantastic video cousin Jake,,😎
Such a respectful tribute by a group of uber talented guys. Gorgeous.
God DAMN this is otherworldly. Someone touch my body and dance with me to this now.
I got you
The best band on earth award goes to UM...everyone else can have a Grammy
Daniel McLean what goes to the guys that wrote it and could leave these guys for dust?
love
I've been listening to these guys for years and just realized I recently missed them playing in Pensacola where I live.
I'll never forgive myself for missing seeing these legends live.
This is fantastic stuff!! I hope the guys appreciate what the Beatles have given them- us, the world. GREAT work UM...Umph Love to All!
chills. so good. sooooooooo good.
I discovered these guys back in 2004 when one of my brothers friends left a MOE "Warts and All" CD case in his car. Although, Inside the MOE CD case wasn't a MOE CD.. but another CD Titled "Local Band Does OKlahoma" (NOT local band does OK) By Umphreys Mcgee. I popped in that CD thinking that it was going to be some weird Irish folk Music (based on the band name), but needless to say....that whole live Album (which is about 90% Jamming/Improv) completely changed my life as well as a few friends of mines lives that were lucky enough to have had shared it with.. and my entire outlook on music as a whole! Such an amazing band that deserves much more than they get credit for! I'll always be a true U.M fan! P.s: it's a shame that that album has long since been out of print and is also near impossible to find on a torrent from what I remember.
Yess!
I normally dont care much for covers but this 😍 I love so much one of my favorite Beatles songs and Umphreys killed it ❤
Umph has the rare ability as a band to perfectly capture the essence of the original song while adding their own flair to it. all without disrespecting the original version. Their covers are top notch and it shows how amazing they are as musicians. check out some others like Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Call to Arms, Rebubula, When Doves Cry, and especially there cover of Girlfriend is Better byTalking Heads.
Yep. Umphrey's, Panic and Mule are the best cover bands on the planet.
This is still the best cover I have seen of this song!!
Superb.
Harmonising voices are just to good to be true. Can't stop watching them!
This whole "Zonkey" album is posilutly absotivily wonderfull
Hell Yeah. This cover will stand the test of time
Flawless
Heart Palpitations ... GUYS You are amazing!!! And I LOVE that sexy keyboard sound from Joel!
Just how cool was that.
this is absolutely nuts. great work
Oh wow!!!!
Excellent performance all around. Best covers of this great creative Beatles piece. I wore this album out 45 years ago and it still gets a listen often.
wow!! No words...
The BEST cover out there on UA-cam Land! Nothing beats those studio walls @ Abbey Road! You guys rock! You're awesome musicians - keep up making your long time dream a constant reality! My Best, Paul Michael
So awesome. I wish Jake's guitar was up more in this audio mix...but this is a major milestone for an awesome band and organization.
Barry Brown jales guitar is allways most forward inn the mix dude get your ears checked
They need to pull stasik forward if anything.....
Supreme Realization of this song...thank you once again Umphrey's McGee!!
UMBowl VI is on!!!
Witnessed this live. Ryman auditorium, nashville TN. EPIC! !!
Keyboard killin it...
I don't even know how to say how fantastic that was.
Everyone loves covers. It's so dangerous though because songs worthy of covering are beloved so deeply by people. Umphrys gives zero fucks and just goes balls deep, imo, nearly always improving on the originals. I love them so.
Lovely! What an awesome opportunity for you guys!
This is THE JAM right here
amazing. on so many levels.
Taking something perfect, and keeping it that way, with a modern twist. RESPECT!!!!!!!
Damn you guys are awesome.
Dope smooth passing notes on guitar
Passing gas….oh how cool
This is the bee's knees . Amazing job . These guys are just the best at what they do.
epic, chills, etc etc.. LOVE This band!
Kool! Absolutely brilliant.
These guys nailed it. They captured the heart and soul of the song.
A job well done!
Goose bumps...shivers...awe and wonder moment!
Excellent version!

So glad this was filmed
Solid version recorded at the same studio recording where the Beatles did the original one. One of the heaviest.songs recorded by the Beatles.
Brilliant.......

I Just cant believe in what i heard. Thats amazing
Dude this is honestly some hardcore spiritual fire shit. Need to feel this sum and somr
