My 57 year old body is absolutely riddled with osteoarthritis...I've had joints removed from my hands (which are very weak), I have two total knee replacements and last December my back literally blew out (got metal rods and 4 fusions) I had to learn how to walk again with a walker - a year later I can now walk with a cane! BIG progress!! Honestly, I forget what it feels like to not have pain...I live alone and that causes me a lot of fear. My faith keeps me going! Thank you for making this video!

I can’t thank you enough for this video! A month ago my arthritis pain started going off the charts. I work full time and need my body to keep moving at full speed. The pain has made me call off of work for a day here and there. Sometimes I end up collapsing and crying at the very end of my shift. I’m so scared. I have to work. I’m 59 years old. People without arthritis don’t understand. It has made me feel so old. I’m in fear of what is going to happen to my working career. I’m crying while writing this. Much Love!

Thank you for addressing this important issue. My mom was riddled with arthritis, both osteoarthritis and RA. She suffered horribly. About a year ago, I developed arthritis in my ring and pinky finger. My husband has arthritis too, so we bought a red light panel for our bodies and a small inexpensive red light belt that I lay across my hands at night while I watch television. I believe they are helping. Research red light therapy and arthritis. Love to all those with chronic pain. Its a difficult journey. ❤

I love this PSA. My mom had RA. My husband and I both have osteo. I have friends with psoriatic. I also have balance and neurological disorders. When I walk, I often waddle or look like I’m drunk. And I cannot walk quickly. Pretty 👠 are a thing of the past for me. And I can’t wear clothes with small buttons or some other closures. There’s a reason why some of us simply can’t wear what we used to. But I’d rather look like an “old lady” and be able to do things than confine myself to my home because how I look makes others uncomfortable.

I have had RA for over 32 hrs and I relate to this video so well. We live with so much pain most of the time. I also find that I often plan an activity with friends only to end up having to cancel because I’m having a painful day. I had major foot surgery, my hand is now non functional but I do the best I can. I also try hard not to complain to others about how I’m feeling. I recently had to stop playing Pickleball which I loved. I just can’t do it anymore with the pain in my foot and hand and shoulders. I laughed when you mentioned the frustration, as I once opened a cereal box with a big butcher knife so I could have it for breakfast. Cereal flew all over the place but I got my bowl of cereal and walked away. Of course I cleaned the mess later but I had a huge smile on my face eating breakfast that morning! I learned over the years to not focus so much on what I can’t do and focus more on what I can do. I have lost the ability to do many things I have loved, but try something new instead. Getting exercise is a huge challenge, looking into chair yoga now.
Thankyou so much for sharing with others what our lives are like, and for the wonderful tips on shoes and fit flops, I will try them! I find I avoid painting my nails and wearing rings that draw attention to my hands as my right hand is very deformed. I can no longer type and it takes me days to send out Christmas cards, as it’s difficult to write. I also try to listen to my body and get rest when the fatigue sets in. But all in all I think I accomplish a lot. I love to cook, decorate, quilt, work with my longarm machine, some gardening too. I have also found that I enjoy Diamond painting. It always amazes me how we learn to improvise and do an everyday function in new ways. Thanks again for your video, I am a new subscriber!😊

Bobbi, your video brought tears to my eyes. I have arthritis in my lower back, so I know all about the "waddle," the pain of lifting of heavy bowls and plates (especially overhead), etc. So I watched to pick up tips and the like. What I found, however, is that so much of the advice you give to loved ones here my husband already does for me. Thank you for making me realize this. It's easy to get caught up in the pain and frustration of the disease and not realize what others may be doing to help. Now I'm going to give my wonderful husband a great big thank you hug! But first, here's a virtual one for you for opening my eyes. 🤗 God bless you!!

I have/had arthritis. I like to do craft and practically couldn't use my left hand, right hand was a little bit better. I had huge knuckle on index finger on my left hand.
I was on million diets, mostly for weight loss, also for arthritis and skin condition.
2 1/2 months ago I decided to try low carb diet, I don't call it keto, because I don't want to go crazy about anything anymore.
In 2 1/2 month, not being very strict, I've lost 23 lb, still have very long way to go. My arthritis is drastically improved, I can use my left hand again, knuckle on my index finger almost gone (still have a little bump on top).
Before I started this diet, if I had to go on stairs, I would have to pull myself by leaning on rails and only use my left leg to lift myself up. Two days ago I suddenly noticed that I am using both my legs going up on stairs (down of stairs I still use left leg). My nails and my hair are better too.
I always was thinking that keto diet is very restrictive, but I found out that there are tons of recipes to substitute restrictive foods. Also berries are allowed. I will stay on it for now. Some people use 5/2 low carb - 5 days low, 2 days healthy carbs.

I was thinking the same thing about chronic illness. Very early in the video I think you mentioned what could be the most important: BELIEVE THEM! Our daughter is disabled and arthritis is one of the manifestations of her illness. So many people have told her for years, "but you don't look sick" or "you're too young to be that sick." Believing her is one of the best things anyone can do for her. It's a habit now when she asks us to hand her something that has a screw-top lid to open it for her.

This should be required watching for everyone! I have reached the point where I must walk with a cane and I am so thankful my friends are so concerned about where we are going to park, how far I have to walk, or dropping me off at the door and best of all, offering an arm as we slowly walk. It’s a mean disease.

Bobbi, you brought tears to my eyes because like you I have severe arthritis but in both of my knees, at the age of 64. I’ve been struggling for years and my family has gone above and beyond knowing what helps me. Being independent for all my life having to rely on others is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to endure. Even though they are patient, I get frustrated with myself so very easily. I haven’t been able to go shopping into a store in probably four years, without a wheelchair. Not even running into the dollar store to grab a gift bag. Thank you Jesus for Amazon. Thank you for this awareness, and prayers to everyone that endures it.

Skechers makes this sneaker called step ins. There’s this technology they have where you can just step into the shoe. You don’t even have to bend down to put them on. Which is perfect for me and my back. My pair has laces but I think they’re just for decoration. I’ve had mine for at least a year and haven’t had to touch the laces at all.
    Hope this helps anyone.

Don't go through the chemo drugs and self-injection. All it did was make my hair fall out!! Always good to get another opinion or many when no meds work. Be careful consider PMR as a diagnosis

Hi Bobbie. My arthritis showed up in my neck first (most of my life my hair has been down to my waist). But about 10 years ago I had to stop getting my hair trims at salons because of the pain I would be in for days afterwards, caused by hanging my head in the sink. Through those years I have trimmed it to be at my bra band length but 3 years ago I had to have it cut to collar length because any longer now is painful. I now go to a hairdresser that I meet when our kids were in kindergarten, she allows me to wash my hair right before my appointment and come with it still wet for her, so glad to know her. I have the Corelle dishes, so glad I do. I dread grabbing a plate out of my daughters cupboard because I know it’s going to hurt. Thank you so much for mentioning how difficult it is for us to stand up and get moving. Being a Canadian with arthritis with winter upon us, I fully understand why elderly people like to go to warmer places to get away from the cold. Great video, take care 😊

So informative for other’s who don’t realize how bad arthritis can be. It runs in our family, and my sister has RA. She’s been going for infusions for quite a while and it really helps. I really don’t know anyone who would make fun of someone with arthritis, as far as moving slower or how their hands look. That would be very cruel. Maybe a child that doesn’t know any better. 😞 Thanks for putting this video out, and I hope you’re getting some help from Rachael, and other family members with cleaning, and other household chores. 🥰

Completely disabled from RA. It can be vastly different for each person which makes it difficult to treat. Some people only have it in a couple fingers-I have it everywhere. For the most part, it's not what people say it's the "looks", that say 'well she looks fine why can't she move?? I felt soooo much of what you said in this video. Thank you for sharing. I have a silicone set that was recommended by my physio which helps with opening jars, ring pulls, bottles etc, it also came with silicone mats to stand the object on to stop it slipping, I got the whole set from Amazon really cheaply. The biggest problem I have, since I also have arthritis in my shoulder, is fastening and unfastening my bra, I am still to find the ideal front fastening bra in the UK. I have found that tumeric oil works really well on my hands for the pain, and if you can find an oil mixed with ginger, the heat from the ginger will also help with the pain.

    Things that I find helpful:
    1. Use a roller-ball style of mouse.
    2. Most phones/tablets/touch devices have an accessibility mode that offers larger "buttons" and requires less force and precision for taps, swipes, and touches. Enable that setting.
    3. Hot tub. I can't afford a "real" hot tub, so I just have an inflatable one. Getting in there a few nights a week really helps. If you can't get a hot tub, try frequent hot baths.
    4. A heated mattress topper.
    5. Stretching/light exercises. I really feel a difference on days when I remember to do my exercises and stretches. I find that right after lunch, at work, is a good time to do it.
    6. Ask the pharmacy for non-childproof lids. I swear, whoever invented childproofing also invented disabled-folks-proofing.

I can relate to your pain levels a lot as I have Osteoarthritis in Lowe back and right knee. It’s so challenging to walk my dog, do housework and so on. Daily pain relief is insufficient. I don’t know what the differences are with many forms of Arthritis, but they all hurt the same way.❤

Thank you! My Mum has arthritis, and I have some occasional trouble with my own hands and wrists if I overdo things or move in a certain way (I am turning 42 soon). I've never been able to open tight lids myself, my wrists just won't do it. It was helpful to watch this as it helps me to understand the situation my Mum is in better... she only just retired (she's nearly 70) after a life of nursing, and isn't able to do all of the crafts she had looked forward to in her retirement in the way she expected.

Thank you so much for this. It's so silly of me to never have thought to ask my friends to let me stand up first. Instead, I hop up and walk right away which causes pain, and sometimes my knees feel as though they will buckle. Will definitely use that hint from this day forward. My friends will be more than happy to accommodate (otherwise, they wouldn't be my friends).

My brother is 85 years old and in perfect health EXCEPT for his arthritic knee. We live in a city-I'm a mile away-where thankfully, stores and services are close by but still, he experiences pain every day. He's had to make adjustments like having to walk with a cane for balance and managing stairs very slowly. God bless him; he does it with grace and he still leads an active social life. He does not want surgery because the recuperation for knee replacement is quite difficult and since my place isn't safe for him, he would have to go to rehab and he refuses. So, he manages quite well; gets a yearly shot that has worked for him and does get physical therapy every other week which is very helpful. Thank you for making this video.

Thank you for this, it is so appreciated Bobbi 🙏🏽❤️. My beautiful late Mom suffered with RA for most of her life and it was very hard to watch her suffer. She was so independent and took pride in doing things for herself, but also learned to ask for help and we gladly helped her. I am older now and get tested, no RA but some other health issues that cause pain and discomfort. I wear my comfy shoes too because I have to! Bless you dear for sharing this important message ! 🙏🏽❤️.

Hi Bobbi. Have you ever looked into or considered a carnivore diet? I've heard a lot of people have turned their arthritis around on it. I've actually been on this diet, off and on, for about two years. I can't speak for arthritis, but I can tell you the ailments I suffer are gone when I stick to it. I have joint pains in my knees, allergies, sinus issues, and IBS. All of which don't bother me while I stick to this diet. I did slightly go off the diet a few times, and after a few days, I quickly remembered why I stuck to this diet. I've heard many people talk about their experiences with this as well, and there's a myriad off ailments people have gotten rid of or greatly reduced. If you've not already researched it, I hope you do. It can't hurt to look into it and could really help. Some good channels to look up are, Dr. Ken Berry, Stake and Butter Gal and Lillie Kane. There are a lot more channels but these are the ones I know best. Dr. Berry has all tge research and data, Lillie has a lot of testimonials and Stake and butter gal has a team of experts and coaches. I really truely hope you find this helpful. Have a beautiful and blessed day! 🌺💖

Oh yeah, forgot to mention the bonus side effects of this diet. You'll easily lose weight. How much varies from person to person and depends on your body, hormons, and stressors. But, you will experience some weight loss if you do it correctly. I myself lost 35lbs off the bat the first few months. And now I maintain.

Regarding shoes, Ortho Feet has lace up shoes, but they also have a velcro piece on either side. So once they are tied where they need to be, all you have to do is just unvelcro whichever side you need to take them off and on again. I've never been able to wear slip on shoes, but these work well. So you can tie them, or you can use the velcro tabs on either side. Win! Win! Also I have osteoarthritis in my hands and waking up in the morning can be painful because the fingers don't want to bend or they are cold or whatever. Along with the idea of wearing gloves with the fingers cut out, I knit myself some gloves like that to wear on my hands at night when I sleep (made out of wool yarn) and it helps my hands stay warm and they don't hurt too much in the mornings now. So that is a great idea also.

Thanks so much for this vid! I’m 82 and one year ago I did find a game changer for the arthritis in my hands. I can tell about it now because it’s been a year use and still, I no longer suffer pain in my hands. Mind you, I have not gotten better grasp, my joints are still oversized… but no pain! And nothing has gotten worse! I simply started taking a turmeric extract supplement of 600 mg a day. The one I use says “2 capsules for 1,200 mg” but the one capsule has been enough to change my life.
I really appreciate all your vids - and to think… just found you! 🙏💜

Hello, just came across your videos.
Have you heard of Shockwave Therapy?
It regenerates the cells in our bodies.
It completely took away the arthritis in my fingers! A dear friend has RA and it was in her jaw. She could barely open her mouth and not able to chew so many foods anymore.
I recommended it to her, after 5 treatments all the pain was GONE and she now has full use of her jaw and can eat steak and popcorn again! Truly do consider finding someone in your area and give it a try! Helps for many issues within the body.

I retired a little early because of my arthritis. Are you on any medication? I am on Cosentyx. My doctor asked me if it works and I tell him sometimes. Yes sometimes now I don’t think it’s any different from when I’m not taking it. I may be wrong. I’m scared to take that chance. Anyway, thank you for everything. You’re a true blessing.🤗🙏🏼💚

Have you watched any videos of Bob and Brad on UA-cam? They’re physical therapists and have videos on ways to relieve arthritis pain. Turmeric is a powerful anti inflammatory and also helps with the pain. Instead of buying supplements I just buy organic turmeric on the spice aisle at Walmart and sprinkle it on my food. I also add black pepper because it helps with turmeric absorption.

My arthritis is in my right hip. I have to remind my grandkids that they can't pull me up when the want me to get up and go with them somewhere. I have to get up and start walking at my own pace. I was taking the Equate version of Advil liqui-gels for my hip pain. It helped some, but I researched a few prescription strength arthritis medications like Piroxicam and Meloxicam to see if they would work better. My doctor prescribed 7.5 mg of Meloxicam that can be taken up to twice a day. Still limping and not pain free, but better. Where I used to have to take it slow even going DOWN stairs, it's not as difficult now. I still can't raise my right knee high enough to get into the car. Lifting my leg behind me is fine, so that's how I get in, lift it backwards and get in with my back to the car. So grateful my left hip is ok so far. Hoping to get hip replacement surgery in early 2024. I also enjoy bike riding, but again, I can lift the right knee only so high, so I have to wait on that until some time after the surgery.
