I was in Anaheim this past week for week and Friday around 5pm we were going from the convention center to the Santa Ana airport. I ordered a lyft for our team and as I was going through the app, the price increase from $50 to $100 within the 30 seconds it too me. That was ordering an XL comfort (which we did NOT get. We got squished in a Tesla, there was 4 of us so I wanted an XL). Anyhow, got to the airport and asked the driver how much he got paid for it and he said around $40 for the ride----I was SHOCKED!! I tipped him well of course (the company paid for if) but just truly disappointed in LYFT for 1) taking over 50% of what I as the customer paid and 2) not even giving me the car I ordered and paid more for.
My EBT is only $10. I don't know how that could work well for anyone. Fast food restaurants and grocery store cashiers are paying $14-16 a hour and servers are making an actual hourly rate of $16-20 an hour (plus tips) I think DD will eventually die in my area.
The problem in NYC and Seattle is not oversaturation per se. Its how the gig companies raised the fees to such an absurd level (they claim to cover costs) that customers are just not ordering at the same quantity.
I remember when UBER and LYFT were 80/20 in which the driver received 80% and the company received 20%, plus a $1 fee per trip for what they called a “safe rider fee.” This was as early as 2015 when I started driving for them and times were good and I made great cash, now it has damn near did a 180 where the company keeps 80%! It’s just not worth driving for them any longer.
Yo always loving the content bro! Wanted to connect because there's a gov grant available for rideshare drivers. Happy to share some info could help your audience out a lot
Lyft's 70% commitment is not on a per ride basis. Its a weekly average of passenger payments - "external fees" = driver 70% lyft 30%. The shitty thing with the turbo is they are using tips to cover the cost so you are going tonstart noticing your tip frequency dropping.
I'm so glad I rarely do door dash anymore. I have a better gig app and only do DD around 2 hours a day now over the dinner hour. If they lower the pay to $1 per order, and I won't be doing DD at all anymore.
Lfyt nor Uber pays 70% per ride, its always been an overall based on your drive time. Thats why sometimes you'll see random "tip" hours after you finish your shift, or even days later.
Blake, you may know but DoorDash is making 30% of the food cost off the top from the restaurant. Then they are charging delivery fee and other fees. They ARE ripping drivers big time. I have this info verified from a local restaurant.
I used to do my taxes yearly and not pay one dime during the year, however, with all of the deductions for mileage that I was allowed to claim I broke even on my taxes every year and never had to pay one dime back, since I drove so many miles. As an Uber or Lyft driver, you are allowed to claim every mile you drive getting to the customer and taking the customer to their final destination. However, you cannot claim the miles it takes to get into your zone and any personal trips you make during your Uber or Lyft workday.
It's after Lyft auto insurance and taxes. But yes at the end of each week they will pay the difference if it doesn't hit 70% but 85% of drivers make more than that. It's PR BS. The guy in the video did no research on the subject.
Remember that time you all did the glitch and lied for months about it lol good times I did it too F door dash also if you do earn by time I'm sick of getting paid bs so now I get 20.25 an hour for earn by time in my town peak pay so I make the orders take 2 hours idc I haven't got in trouble and I get 40 to 60 an order milking it I even sit by the customers house and say that I have a app issue and just sit 30 more minutes idc I'm getting paid no matter what
OMG, does this guy do any reason on the subject he is talking about? Lyft 70% BS is after raking out their expenses as in auto insurance and taxes. Then Lyft will pay 70% of the customer pay at the total week and not per trip.
Amazing how many desperate people are willing to tear up their second most important asset (vehicle) for less than minimum wage. Might be time to get a marketable skill/education folks.

These companies ruined the economy aswell as the transportation business 😂🤦🏿🤷🏿
I think DoorDash should implement a mandatory 20% gratuity in DoorDash customers bills
Fuck no.
The problem with that is, due to base pay being so low, oftentimes, including a 20% tip still wouldn't cover the mileage.

Guys! Theres a new theft happening! Now we have food delivery thefts going on
I know a guy who claims he's taken over 100 orders lol
i just started door dash in september downloaded a mileage app and kept mileage and expenses are both are tax deductible
With all the money Uber and Lyft charge leaves the customer with no reason or motive to tip the driver. Its a win win for u Uber and Lyft as always
Never used one. I always take a taxi.

Doesnt matter what doordash does the driver still has to receive the money not just see it written in a story.
I like independent. I like to being own boss. Dont have to put up with BS in company.

Before 2018 both Uber and Lyft paid 80% to the driver and 20% to themselves in my area.

Good
Do doordashers need to do quarterly taxes or yearly?

On lyft, if your pay doesn't come to at least 70% by the end of the week, they will make up the difference to you.

Hourly drivers have to be paid first....
So if it's slow, Hourly drivers will get orders, to atleast the Hourly pay, or the hourly pay........
I don't think you understand what active hour means. You are only paid while you actively on an order. No order, no pay.
They need to pay minimum wage plus tips any time we are dashing
Keep hoping. That would be awesome.

I agree
But what about the people that swear that they are making $1k a week doing DD and rideshare? 😂
@@bballah9969 Yes, multi apping Probably Catering apps involved as well. That's where the money's at
