Your videos are great! I'm retired and don't need Office, but I have OneNote and can open it in OneDrive to delete a Notebook. Wish I had found your videos 3 years age. Thanks, Dolores
Thank you Dolores. Yes, OneDrive is great for working in OneNote. It's a nice free alternative for Office software if you're just using the basic functionality. Thanks for the comment and for watching this video, have a nice day.
Professor Adam, this is a great tutorial and thank you for putting it online. I know it was for your students, yet I found it very helpful. I know 'about' the cloud, but not how to use it properly and I was finding that I was saving things to my hard drive. Hopefully, I will have success. If not, it will be user error. I already pay for Microsoft and get 1T of cloud storage, so I found out by accident that I was not utilizing it like I should. I will look around and see what other videos you had. Your information was very clear, step by step and very informative. I hope this helped your students as well! I just subscribed!
Hi Adam can you do a video how to use a SATA cable , I have dell computer and noting is showing in my end i have some hard drive that have picture and i would like to put them in my new computer buy a new sata cable hopefully you can help me
I'm curious: Have you ever tried using Google Drive? I have tried it several times because I can't seem to have any control over what it's doing. It seems to upload so slowly, and there is no count of any files or folders available, so I can never tell if all files have uploaded into the folder(s). It is so unreliable! Is it just me? Is it actually really easy to use and very reliable and fast?
Hi Robert, Yes, I use Google Drive occasionally, but not as my primary cloud provider. Personally, I don’t like using Web Browsers for file management because then you have to log in every single time you want to use the cloud. I purposely sync all of my OneDrive files to File Explorer so I don’t have to use OneDrive.com for convenience. OneDrive also organizes files on the web browser similar to File Explorer. Navigation in Google Drive doesn’t feel as familiar to me, but I don’t think it’s necessarily slower or less reliable. I think it more depends on what user interface you prefer, but both are reliable.
@@ProfessorAdamMorgan Thank you. I guess I'll start using it for unimportant files just to get used to it again. Maybe since I cleaned up my Windows 10 recently - it might work better!
Hi Robert, Yes, starting there should be helpful. Also, it may speed up your computer if you move hard drive files to the cloud. Keep in mind that unless you were near your hard drives limits, you probably won't notice much of a difference in computer speed. Have a good one.
Regarding the sync feature, what if you have more than 5.5 GB worth of stuff? My Documents folder has quite a bit more than 5.5 GB and the first time I got OneDrive working it gave me an error message saying the drive was full. I don't want to buy more space from Microsoft (partly because I don't need 1 TB or anywhere near it and I don't want to pay a subscription fee either). So what is the best way to work with OneDrive when your files exceed 5.5 GB? Thanks!
Hi Douglasskinner, You could create multiple accounts and store the files between those accounts if you want to use OneDrive. I think Google Drive offers 15GB for free, so if you're fine with Google's platform, they offer 3 times the space. I hope this helps you out.
thanks for the video, a quick question that do you maybe know why after i click sync, folder and sub folder structure is visible in file explorer, but when i go to check they are all empty folder? the files were not there, they look like empty folders, not synced. Is this because that the number of all items in this synced folder is >5000 ? not sure how to solve this
Hi, If the file contents are larger than the allowed storage space (5GB), then it might not be syncing correctly. Try syncing another OneDrive account that has less files and see if that works. If it does, transfer files that you need to that account without exceeding the file size limit.
Hi,When I open my account in one drive in my computer desktop is automatically move into one drive how return desktop to computer and remove in one drive
Hi Lania, In the Taskbar Notification Area in the bottom right of your computer, you should see a little cloud icon. Right-click that icon then click settings. From there, choose the 'Close OneDrive' option to remove syncing from your computer. I hope this helps.
Great job! However, I am eternally confused with syncing files. I've gotten into so much trouble losing folders and files when deleting to start fresh. I AM USING THE CLOUD PRIMARILY FOR A BACKUP OF MY PERSONAL FOLDERS. If I continue using the folders and files seen on my desktop, they are NOT the same folders that are synced in my (onedrive) folder. I don't know of a way to copy my "synced" desktop folders into my regular desktop folder, so that they will be accessed and visible on my desktop - How do I move or copy my synced desktop over to my "real" desktop, so that they could be accessed and changed FROM MY DESKTOP. Or, do I have to only go into my (onedrive or dropbox) folder to make additions and changes to be current and synced up automatically? Thanks for your attention. Rob Oh yeah, could I download the folder and then somehow get that downloaded synced folder to appear on the desktop?
Hi Robert, Thank you for watching my video and for the comment. I actually made a video that covers specifically syncing a OneDrive account to your PC. You may be having syncing issues due to other accounts being previously synced to your PC. The benefit of syncing your OneDrive account to your Windows 10 device is that you can easily access all of the files and folder from File Explorer, rather than the OneDrive Web App. Check out this video and let me know if it was helpful for you or if you still have more issues. Have a nice day. ua-cam.com/video/rm_1O3Ku_6A/v-deo.html
Question? My Laptop has One-Drive and so does my Desktop. The files are different. How do I create a 2 icons on my Desktop, one to open the Laptop One-Drive and the other to open the Desktop One-Drive?
Great instructional videos - Thanks. When One-Drive is synced with my laptop, does it create a COPY or a LINK to the file in the CLOUD? A LINK doesn't use the space whereas the COPY uses space on the Laptop. But a COPY let's me work with the file off-line. If I do, does it update the CLOUD COPY when I reconnect to the internet?
how should i change the icons of the folder in onedrive, i have my fathers last journeyphotos however i would like to have some gods pic on the folder icon. is it possible and how. please suggest i will appreciate your help.
Hi Anurag, If you look in the top right of OneDrive.com, you'll see a way to view your files/photos in icons/large list/compact list. These are the only settings you can choose for your OneDrive view. I explain this in the video below, hopefully it helps you: ua-cam.com/video/YQRTZku2glc/v-deo.html
Hi Sir, may I know if there is any way to stop one drive from syncing files created on my desktop. Would prefer the older method of uploading the important documents onto one drive rather than uploading everything that is done on my desktop.
Hi Alicia, Sure, you can right-click on the cloud icon in the bottom right of your taskbar. That'll open your OneDrive options. Select Pause Syncing, and you can choose the amount of time that you want to stop syncing. Alternatively, you can also sign-out of OneDrive and use OneDrive.com to manage all of your syncing. I hope this is helpful for you.
Hi Kumar, No, your cloud files will be stored on Microsoft's servers. The files stored on OneDrive will not take up any storage on your computer, unless you download and save them to your hard drive. I hope this helps you out.
Hi Vishnu, Here is the link to download chrome. www.google.com/chrome/ Follow the instructions and it should be relatively straight forward. I hope this helps, thanks for watching!
Hi Arie, I made another video on Syncing your PC to OneDrive so that you can add your files to OneDrive without using Onedrive.com or having to download or upload files individually. Here is the video that covers how to sync your computer so that you can save directly to OneDrive within File Explorer: ua-cam.com/video/rm_1O3Ku_6A/v-deo.html
Sir, From my pc, I am pasting one video to my one drive folder. It gets uploaded online automatically but when I delete the file from my PC to save extra space because the video is taking space on my HDD, The video gets deleted online too. Is there any solution for that? I hope you understand my concern.
Hi Aman, Make sure that you're also saving it to your hard drive on your computer. If you save it to your OneDrive folder in Windows 10, or any folder associated with OneDrive, it'll delete there too. I hope that helps.
@@ProfessorAdamMorgan Sir, I am talking about internal Harf drive only. I'll explain once more, There is a video in my laptop in some other folder. I move it to my one drive folder in pc. The folder gets automatically uploaded online but it's still yaking space in my pc, so for saving the space, I delete it from that one drive folder. but it gets deleted online too. My question is, is there any setting by which when I moved that video to my one drive folder, it gets uploaded online and stop taking space on my pc? because it is taking, even after getting uploaded online becuase of auto sync
How do I sync a document to One Drive from my computer? Also, when I'm working on a novel, I change the date on the title each day that I write. So then you can't sync?
Hi Florence, I created the video below discussing syncing OneDrive to your PC File Explorer. Give it a watch and as long as you sync it correctly, it should update without a problem: ua-cam.com/video/rm_1O3Ku_6A/v-deo.html
The link to add .5 GB of storage to one drive does not work. Is it possible to sync one of my regular library files to onedrive without having to create a new folder in onedrive and dragging files over? Google drive has the option to do this but I do not want to install Google drive on the other PCs.
Hi Bruce, I am sorry about that, I have reset the link so hopefully the new one works. Yes it is possible. Once you sync OneDrive to Windows 10 (I recommend this for your home computer only), then you will see a OneDrive icon in your File Explorer tab. Then you can copy and paste any folder/file into your OneDrive folder and it'll sync any time you use the files. This works better than Google Drive because you don't need to use a web app. I hope this helps you. onedrive.live.com?invref=db202c9645374901&invscr=90
Hi Rico, Not at all, you can save directly to your hard drive to ensure your photos are not on the cloud. OneDrive is a good option for files that you want to share, or access anywhere. I wouldn't recommend adding anything very personal to your OneDrive account.
Hi Thomas, This happens on my computer from time to time. I fix it by signing out of OneDrive on Windows 10 then signing back in. If that doesn't work, I usually update my operating system to make sure the latest version is installed. After doing those things, I haven't had this issue. Let me know if that works.
excuse me sir , are there a method to save all of photos as original photos and not as a zip because pressing pictures make there quality too bad .. thanks in advance
Hi, Yeah if you copy and paste all of the images, it won't put them in to a zipped folder. I'd recommend syncing your OneDrive to File Explorer and doing all of it within File Explorer. I created a video on how to sync OneDrive below. Good luck: ua-cam.com/video/rm_1O3Ku_6A/v-deo.html
Thanks for a very instructive video. Maybe you can help with another problem on my Onedrive. I like to save my file both on Onedrive and on my laptop. (Laptop for quick lookups without using up data download.) So, after working locally, I first SAVE then SAVE AS (ONEDRIVE>FOLDER>FILENAME). Later, I want to access a file from Onedrive. Certain of these files can only be accessed from the FILE menu in the local version, but not from Explorer. (they don't seem to be there). Others are available from the same menu AND from Explorer. One problem with that is I can't erase old files if I can't access them from explorer. Thanks again.
Hi Martin, Thank you for watching my video, I am glad that you found it helpful. I haven't really heard of the problem you're having before. My recommendation is to perhaps uninstall onedrive on your computer, then reinstall it. When I was having syncing issues last year, that was the only thing that would resolve the problem. Perhaps it will work for you, good luck!
Request - I hope you can help me. I currently use a PC laptop with Windows Microsoft Office Suite. Windows 7. I want to buy a new laptop and they come with Windows 10. Will I be able to save, open and use my current Windows 7 documents on the Windows 10 program? And, is Windows 10 as user friendly as my Windows 7 program? Please help if possible.
Hi Elizabeth, You can only open your current documents if you transfer them to the new computer. This can be done using OneDrive, assuming you have less than 5GB of data on your current computer. The safest way to do all of this would be an external hard drive. I hope this helps you out.
My one drive is full. I don't want to pay for one drive. I also have icloud from my Apple devices. How do I stop one drive from being automatic for everything and .... can I create one folder that if I want one drive to save it will only save that folder ?
Going to give it a try, currently using another online backup but the problem is if one file is added to the backup set, the whole set is done as a full backup instead of incremental. I am very familiar with older software like xcopy, pkware, and when Windows added briefcase all of which would compare and backup only the new or changed files. Since my backup set is 700 gigs in size you can imaging the problem when I add even one file, and the online system I use now has to back up the entire set all over again.
Hi Mark, You're right, full backups can take a very long time, especially if you're backing up 700+ gigs of storage data. Well, since OneDrive only comes with 5GB for free, you might consider using it for a while to see if you like it, just backing up certain files as you go. OneDrive does offer a premium subscription, I don't know the details or how much it costs, but it offers 1TB of cloud storage. Although the initial syncing process will take a long time, from that point forward, it should load and sync as soon as your computer starts. Not sure if this is an option for you, but it may solve your problems with storage backup times. Have a nice day and thanks for the comment.
So I been experimenting with One Drive and it is phenomenally, infinitely easier than the current backup party I use, once that subscription runs out, one drive is a bit more but well worth it, if I can get my VSDC capture to work, will have to to a vid on it.
No problem Walaa, thanks for watching! You can share files or folders on OneDrive.com by right-clicking on the file/folder and clicking Share. Once you do that, type in the email addresses of the students and it'll give them the option to see the files or folders that you've decided to share. I hope this helps.
Do you know why I can’t upload videos from video editor - it used to but now won’t let me- comes up with something about uploader - would really need anyone’s help!
Hi ZD Lifestyle, It might depend on what the file size is. With video files, it's likely that the size is too large to fit within the free storage on your OneDrive account. Hopefully this helps you out.
I have a very specific One Drive issue, and it isn't one that I can find a solution for online. I bought a new computer because my old one is practically dead at this point, and I set it up using a different (newer) Microsoft account. The trouble is that the new computer didn't give me as much One Drive space as I had on the old computer/account. Is there a way to transfer that space to my new computer since it is technically mine anyway? I need the space because I am trying to move my files from the old one to the new one. It isn't working because not enough space. I even tried setting up another user on the computer using the old account, and the one drive didn't carry over to the new computer. This is annoying.
So I just want to save specific files and programs from my computer to the cloud in case anything ever happens to my laptop. There seems to now be a section taking up more space on my computer for all of the files and programs I download to onedrive. How can I stop that from happening and only have it save to the cloud?
Hi John, Right-click on the cloud icon in the taskbar on the right side. Then choose settings. In the Microsoft OneDrive settings options, click the Backup section. Uncheck the boxes for automatic backup and it should clear that problem up for you. Thank you for watching!
Hi, Adam I am running .Win10 and have a subscription to Office365 Home Edition. Do I have two instances of OneDrive? Can OneDrive be used like Mozy or Carbonite to automatically backup a predefined backup set to the cloud? My sub gives me 1 T of storage space per user at no additional charge. I’m thinking it can replace my Mozy.
Hi Judyln, You will not have 2 instances of OneDrive. Your 1T of storage is linked to whichever Microsoft email account that you linked your Office 365 subscription to. You could use OneDrive as your backup, but OneDrive's primary use isn't necessarily backing up data. So if you accidentally delete something or your Microsoft account is hacked, it could mean a loss of important files. It's okay to have multiple backups as long as they're well organized. I hope this is clear, have a nice day.
Another Request - office 365 Documents Folder saves files on the C drive by default. My desktop is setup with a small C running programs and a large E for data. I have so many files that C can't handle everything that would normally go in a documents file. What is the best solution to that problem?
Hey How To Do Show, You're going to have to change your sync settings within Microsoft Office. This website should help you adjust the sync away from your C drive and on to your E drive. You should just have to change the location once and it should work from there on out. deakin.intelliresponse.com/?requestType=NormalRequest&source=3&id=2199&question=How+do+I+change+my+sync+location+in+OneDrive+for+Business
Can you please show how to save a large document on both the cloud and at the same time on one's pc? They have the same doc. title. When I saved my document in cloud, it separated it into two; the one in the pc and the one in the cloud so I found two documents with the same name; the one in pc is missing the last part I worked on which was automatically saved in the cloud but not in the pc. This makes absolute no sense at all to separate the document without updating it on the pc. it only updates on the cloud; so frustrating. Thank you. This is May 23/19.
Hi Chela, So when you save the document to the cloud, you will need to access the cloud in order to update and resave that document. If you want a copy on your PC, you will need to create a copy and put it there. If you want to access the cloud file easily from File Explorer, I recommend syncing your OneDrive to your PC File Explorer. If you can do this, you'll have no problem easily copying the file each day to your PC if you want a backup. I made a video on this, I hope it helps you: ua-cam.com/video/rm_1O3Ku_6A/v-deo.html
@@ProfessorAdamMorgan Thank you so very much professor Adam for your prompt reply. Your knowledge, guidance and time is very much appreciated; I will watch the video.
Hi Ben, If you want to free hard drive space, you could cut and paste your files from the C Drive (This PC) and paste them to your OneDrive using File Explorer in Windows 10. Remember OneDrive only comes with 5GB of free storage, so if Hard Drive space is a problem, you'll probably need OneDrive premium. I hope this helps out.
Great, so space is not an issue. On your Surface Pro, check to make sure that it's synced up to your OneDrive. If it is, you should have no problem moving any files to OneDrive within File Explorer to keep space open on you Surface's hard drive.
Request - with Sync on office365 the default location of files in on onedrive and it downloads content/changes to my desktop files. Or, the files on onedrive control my desktop files. I would prefer having the default file location on my desktop and having copies and changes made on onedrive as a backup. I don't think sync allows that yes? AutoSave constantly saves files in the background which is good but does allow my preferred file management scheme? If so how do you set it up and if not, is there another solution out there that offers that capability?
Hey How To Do Show, To be honest I am not so sure on this one. I don't use Office 365 (I use 2016) on any of my devices, so this one is something I don't have much experience in. I also disable the autosave feature on my version of Office so I am mostly unfamiliar with the process. I was able to find some information on the Microsoft website that may help you out, and I'll link it below. My guess is that you'd have to change your sync options, so hopefully this works: support.deakin.edu.au/kb_view_customer.do?sys_kb_id=cd6aa6fed01a950008800ceda200d9db
thank you for the .5 - there is no icon in my notification area?? - win 10 - all my files are on another drive, never on C - C is just for programs, so how do I get onedrive in my notification area?
Hi Doug, No problem! All right, so if you don't have the icon, I recommend pressing the Windows key on your keyboard and immediately typing "OneDrive" to see if you have OneDrive installed on your computer. You may not have OneDrive installed on your device. If you need to download the desktop application, here is the link: onedrive.live.com/about/en-US/download/
Hey, thanks for the video. There is one thing that I am not sure I understand with the sync option in the explorer, the file is saved on the Onedrive cloud but is it saved as well in the computer??? I cant figure this out... The reason is that I do not want to use drive as backup but extra storage and use the exploser just for better access than the web browser.
Hey Christopher, Thank you for watching. When you save something in File Explorer, you can choose the OneDrive option. If it is saved on your OneDrive, it is not saved on your computer. To save it on your computers long-term memory, you'd need to save it to the hard drive, which is listed under 'This PC' in File Explorer. I use OneDrive for the same thing, as an access point rather than backup. Anything that you save to OneDrive on File Explorer can be accessed immediately at OneDrive.com from any device. Hope this helps explain it.
Hi Mark, Yes, syncing OneDrive to File Explorer is an absolute must for home/work computers running Windows 10. I use the sync feature on each computer that I use often. I made a video on how to do this, check it out at the link below if you'd like: ua-cam.com/video/rm_1O3Ku_6A/v-deo.html Have a good one!
I am researching sync software, I loved the old windows briefcase, found a reference to it, but no longer available to add anymore. will use Sync in conjunction with One Drive, experiment, see how I like it.
Yeah the sync process on OneDrive is automatic and easy to understand. The cloud in the taskbar (Windows 10) allows you to sign in to OneDrive and sync your files to File Explorer. I've found that sync time is usually very short, I expect that you'll like it. Let me know.
Hi Syrah, Great question. The web app at onedrive.com will definitely work on any Linux friendly browser. I'm not sure if OneDrive can be synced directly with Linux's file management system. Thanks for watching the video, I hope this answers your question.
Great Tutorial! I cannot sign into my One Drive and therefore I cannot get the Microsoft OneDrive Settings, Account etc. to open up when I click on the OneDrive Icon. I have a One Drive Error Code 0x8004de34 and I know what the problem is but cannot fix it myself. I have a case # with Microsoft. I replied to the email they send me for a support case but they are not answering my reply. Can you help?
Hi Joyce, Using OneDrive will not have any effect on your iCloud account. You can use multiple types of cloud storage for different purposes. OneDrive and iCloud are essentially just 2 different types of cloud storage services. This video may help explain a little bit more about how the cloud works. Let me know if you have any other questions, I hope this helps: ua-cam.com/video/3WANMc8EqPM/v-deo.html
Hey Adam, can you make a video on how to keep working on something you started on your work laptop, but you just want to continue working on it from your home PC.. Thank you,
Hi J. Santiago, Sure, I have a video on Syncing OneDrive to Windows 10. If you do that, you'll be able to use your OneDrive files within File Explorer, as long as both computers are synced to your OneDrive account. It's super easy to set up and I'll attach the video below. I hope this helps you out: ua-cam.com/video/rm_1O3Ku_6A/v-deo.html
Hello, Yes, you can only get that extra half-gig on new accounts. Just click the link in the description box of this video. Let me know if you have any other questions.
i have been using one drive to back up my files especially on ms access is there away i can work concurrently with it from my home while still updating my file on my office folder
Hey Jay, Yeah, you can sync OneDrive to your PC, then have the file automatically update without using the web browser. Keep in mind it'll only update in the OneDrive folder in the last location that you saved it within OneDrive. I made a video on this, check it out: ua-cam.com/video/rm_1O3Ku_6A/v-deo.html
Can you do like a basics for beginners - basically like how everything is connected and about drives etc a also editing would be great as I have just started UA-cam 🙈 thank you

Hi XL Worlds, No, I mostly just cover what OneDrive is and how to sync it with Windows 10 in this video. Basically, you have 2 options to increase storage on OneDrive. Remember, you start off with 5GB of free storage: 1. You can earn 0.5 GB for every person you refer to OneDrive. For Example, I earn 0.5GB for every person who clicks the link in my description, only thing is that it is capped at 15 GBs, so I'm no longer allowed to earn GB. 2. You can purchase a OneDrive Plan from Microsoft. $2/month gets you 50GB. $7/month gets you 1TB of storage with Microsoft Office. $99/year gets you 5TB of storage and Microsoft Office. I hope this clears up your question. Thanks for the comment.
Hi Maria, Anything on your C drive will not be sent to OneDrive. Only dedicated items in your OneDrive folder will be sent there. If you're ever confused, click This PC in File Explorer, and you'll be able to see all documents in your C drive.
HELP! I CLICKED YOUR LINK ... Received code to create new password, went to read terms of agreement on next page, when I went back I saw message saying "Your account has been temporarily suspended" HUH? Not sure why? I was using the Firefox browser when I clicked your link. Tried a few times, same thing. So I tried going in from my Window 10 start page /OneDrive and got a message "Something went wrong. Sign into your account.live.com from a browser" But I don't know what to do from here! HELP!
Hi, Occasionally OneDrive will lock you out of your account if something unexpected happens on your account. In this case, it was probably when you hit the back button. If you have another email address, you should just try to set it up using that email address until they lock up the old one. The link in the description should work fine, I've seen a lot of other people have used it. You will get an extra half gig for using it. If the half gig isn't important to you, you should be able to create a new account directly from Onedrive.com I hope this helps!
I really want to be able to access OneDrive directly from my pc index so I used my other account to sign in from my pc; got new code for new password, signed in again, then got same message ""Something went wrong. Sign into your account.live.com from a browser. Now this is getting frustrating!
I haven't seen an error message like that before. Usually if you want to see your OneDrive account from your File Explorer, you just have to click the cloud icon on the right side of the taskbar. Once you do that, it should prompt you to sign in. Once signed in, you should see it in your file explorer. Not sure why it's asking you to go to account.live.com but typically all account fixes can be done directly at onedrive.com
I guess you would only need this if you are thinking of going overseas and don't want to take any files with you then its a great idea but its not a preferred replacement to your own cheap terabyte external hard drive. Plus I don't have a job so I don't use the office time to look at my own files in a work environment either like a lot of slack millennial workers do instead of helping a customer on the phone.
Hi Nihilist, Yes, a portable hard drive or flash drive is a fine way to travel with your files. I always recommend having an external drive as a backup because you never know what can happen when you store your files with another company.
Hi George, I hope this video is helpful for you. Here are the steps on how to create a OneDrive account: You're required to use a Microsoft Account to use OneDrive. If you already have a @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, or @live.com*email address, or an Xbox Live or Skype account, you already have a Microsoft account, and you can use that info to sign in. If you don't have a Microsoft account, do the following: Visit OneDrive.com using your web browser. Click the Sign up for free button. Click the Create a Microsoft account button. Create a new email address and password for the new account. Click the Next button. Continue through any additional on-screen instructions. Once you completed these steps, you can start using OneDrive and connect your account to Windows 10.
Hi Robert,
Yes, I use Google Drive occasionally, but not as my primary cloud provider.
Hi Robert,
Yes, starting there should be helpful. Also, it may speed up your computer if you move hard drive files to the cloud. Keep in mind that unless you were near your hard drives limits, you probably won't notice much of a difference in computer speed. Have a good one.
Hello Mr.Morgan can you make videos of windows command prompt ? It would be great..
Hi Fahim,
Absolutely! I am behind on my videos right now, but I can make that in the future. It would be good for my students too, great suggestion.
sir i like the way you are explaining each and every thing verbatimly.....being the fan i love it sir
Thank you Saad Khan Khan. I appreciate you commenting and watching the videos. Have a nice day.
Thanks!
Hi Douglasskinner,
You could create multiple accounts and store the files between those accounts if you want to use OneDrive.
Is this because that the number of all items in this synced folder is >5000 ? not sure how to solve this
Hi,
If the file contents are larger than the allowed storage space (5GB), then it might not be syncing correctly. Try syncing another OneDrive account that has less files and see if that works. If it does, transfer files that you need to that account without exceeding the file size limit.
if you modify the document on your laptoo will it be modify on your cloud as well?
Hi Manikile,
Yep, as long as you save it to OneDrive.
@@ProfessorAdamMorgan how do you save it on onedrive? do you just drag it or copy it or what?
Hi,When I open my account in one drive in my computer desktop is automatically move into one drive how return desktop to computer and remove in one drive
Hi Lania,
In the Taskbar Notification Area in the bottom right of your computer, you should see a little cloud icon.
Hi Robert,
Thank you for watching my video and for the comment.

Hi Anurag,
If you look in the top right of OneDrive.com, you'll see a way to view your files/photos in icons/large list/compact list. These are the only settings you can choose for your OneDrive view. I explain this in the video below, hopefully it helps you:

Hi Sir, may I know if there is any way to stop one drive from syncing files created on my desktop. Would prefer the older method of uploading the important documents onto one drive rather than uploading everything that is done on my desktop.
Hi Alicia,
Sure, you can right-click on the cloud icon in the bottom right of your taskbar. That'll open your OneDrive options. Select Pause Syncing, and you can choose the amount of time that you want to stop syncing. Alternatively, you can also sign-out of OneDrive and use OneDrive.com to manage all of your syncing. I hope this is helpful for you.
So when I sync my cloud storage to my laptop, does the files on my cloud takes up any storage from my hard drive for synchronizing?
Hi Kumar,
No, your cloud files will be stored on Microsoft's servers. The files stored on OneDrive will not take up any storage on your computer, unless you download and save them to your hard drive. I hope this helps you out.

It gets uploaded online automatically but when I delete the file from my PC to save extra space because the video is taking space on my HDD, The video gets deleted online too. Is there any solution for that? I hope you understand my concern.
Hi Aman,
Make sure that you're also saving it to your hard drive on your computer. If you save it to your OneDrive folder in Windows 10, or any folder associated with OneDrive, it'll delete there too. I hope that helps.

Is it possible to sync one of my regular library files to onedrive without having to create a new folder in onedrive and dragging files over? Google drive has the option to do this but I do not want to install Google drive on the other PCs.
Hi Bruce,
I am sorry about that, I have reset the link so hopefully the new one works.

Can you do a video on how to merge documents in ms word
Sir - my question - is onedrive required ? all I want to do is save my files/pictures on my hard drive and I don't share them with anyone.
Hi Rico,
Not at all, you can save directly to your hard drive to ensure your photos are not on the cloud. OneDrive is a good option for files that you want to share, or access anywhere. I wouldn't recommend adding anything very personal to your OneDrive account.
Professor Adam Morgan

How do you trouble shoot sync problems and find files that are too long to sync?
Hi Thomas,
This happens on my computer from time to time.
Hi,
Yeah if you copy and paste all of the images, it won't put them in to a zipped folder. I'd recommend syncing your OneDrive to File Explorer and doing all of it within File Explorer. I created a video on how to sync OneDrive below. Good luck:
ua-cam.com/video/rm_1O3Ku_6A/v-deo.html
Hi Martin,
Thank you for watching my video, I am glad that you found it helpful. I haven't really heard of the problem you're having before. My recommendation is to perhaps uninstall onedrive on your computer, then reinstall it. When I was having syncing issues last year, that was the only thing that would resolve the problem. Perhaps it will work for you, good luck!
@@ProfessorAdamMorgan Many thanks for the quick reply. I will give that a try.
No problem and good luck!
Hi Elizabeth,
You can only open your current documents if you transfer them to the new computer.
Hi Mark,
You're right, full backups can take a very long time, especially if you're backing up 700+ gigs of storage data.
That's great news Mark, I'm glad it works for you. If I can help with anything else, let me know!
Thanks for your useful video. I want to know how to share files with my students?
No problem Walaa, thanks for watching! You can share files or folders on OneDrive.com by right-clicking on the file/folder and clicking Share. Once you do that, type in the email addresses of the students and it'll give them the option to see the files or folders that you've decided to share. I hope this helps.
@@ProfessorAdamMorgan Many thanks
Do you know why I can’t upload videos from video editor - it used to but now won’t let me- comes up with something about uploader - would really need anyone’s help!
Hi ZD Lifestyle,
It might depend on what the file size is.

Hi John,
Right-click on the cloud icon in the taskbar on the right side. Then choose settings. In the Microsoft OneDrive settings options, click the Backup section. Uncheck the boxes for automatic backup and it should clear that problem up for you. Thank you for watching!
Why did I get 0,5 more gb when I signed in with my account?
Hi, Adam I am running .Win10 and have a subscription to Office365 Home Edition. Do I have two instances of OneDrive?
Can OneDrive be used like Mozy or Carbonite to automatically backup a predefined backup set to the cloud? My sub gives me 1 T of storage space per user at no additional charge. I’m thinking it can replace my Mozy.
Hi Judyln,
You will not have 2 instances of OneDrive.
Hey How To Do Show,
You're going to have to change your sync settings within Microsoft Office. This website should help you adjust the sync away from your C drive and on to your E drive. You should just have to change the location once and it should work from there on out.

Hi Chela,
So when you save the document to the cloud, you will need to access the cloud in order to update and resave that document. If you want a copy on your PC, you will need to create a copy and put it there. If you want to access the cloud file easily from File Explorer, I recommend syncing your OneDrive to your PC File Explorer. If you can do this, you'll have no problem easily copying the file each day to your PC if you want a backup. I made a video on this, I hope it helps you:

would you go through setting of OneDrive to stop using our local HD space? Thanks
Hi Ben,
If you want to free hard drive space, you could cut and paste your files from the C Drive (This PC) and paste them to your OneDrive using File Explorer in Windows 10. Remember OneDrive only comes with 5GB of free storage, so if Hard Drive space is a problem, you'll probably need OneDrive premium. I hope this helps out.
I already have over 1 terabyte. That's not any issue. I noticed that onedrive keeps everything on my Surface pro instead of the Cloud. Thanks,
Great, so space is not an issue. On your Surface Pro, check to make sure that it's synced up to your OneDrive. If it is, you should have no problem moving any files to OneDrive within File Explorer to keep space open on you Surface's hard drive.
Thank you so much for all your help.
Of course, let me know if you have any other questions and I'll do my best to help out. Have a nice day.
Hey How To Do Show,
To be honest I am not so sure on this one. I don't use Office 365 (I use 2016) on any of my devices, so this one is something I don't have much experience in. I also disable the autosave feature on my version of Office so I am mostly unfamiliar with the process. I was able to find some information on the Microsoft website that may help you out, and I'll link it below. My guess is that you'd have to change your sync options, so hopefully this works:

No problem! All right, so if you don't have the icon, I recommend pressing the Windows key on your keyboard and immediately typing "OneDrive" to see if you have OneDrive installed on your computer. You may not have OneDrive installed on your device. If you need to download the desktop application, here is the link:

Hey, thanks for the video. There is one thing that I am not sure I understand with the sync option in the explorer, the file is saved on the Onedrive cloud but is it saved as well in the computer??? I cant figure this out...
The reason is that I do not want to use drive as backup but extra storage and use the exploser just for better access than the web browser.
Hey Christopher,
Thank you for watching.
That is also good to know that I did not realize, but I can easily backup to Hdrive.
Hi Mark,
Yes, syncing OneDrive to File Explorer is an absolute must for home/work computers running Windows 10. I use the sync feature on each computer that I use often. I made a video on how to do this, check it out at the link below if you'd like:

Have a good one!

Using OneDrive will not have any effect on your iCloud account. You can use multiple types of cloud storage for different purposes. this video doesn't show anything about increasing the volume size of your one drive? ....
Hi XL Worlds,
No, I mostly just cover what OneDrive is and how to sync it with Windows 10 in this video. Basically, you have 2 options to increase storage on OneDrive. Remember, you start off with 5GB of free storage:

Hi,
Occasionally OneDrive will lock you out of your account if something unexpected happens on your account. In this case, it was probably when you hit the back button. If you have another email address, you should just try to set it up using that email address until they lock up the old one. The link in the description should work fine, I've seen a lot of other people have used it. You will get an extra half gig for using it. If the half gig isn't important to you, you should be able to create a new account directly from Onedrive.com
I hope this helps!
I'll try asking the Microsoft community, if I find an answer I'll pass it on. Thanks for your time.
Thanks, best of luck!

Hi Nihilist,
Yes, a portable hard drive or flash drive is a fine way to travel with your files. I always recommend having an external drive as a backup because you never know what can happen when you store your files with another company.
THANK YOU!!

You're required to use a Microsoft Account to use OneDrive. If you
already have a @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, or @live.com*email address,
or an Xbox Live or Skype account, you already have a Microsoft account,
and you can use that info to sign in.
If you don't have a Microsoft account, do the following:
Visit OneDrive.com using your web browser.
Click the Sign up for free button.
Click the Create a Microsoft account button.
Create a new email address and password for the new account.
Click the Next button.
Continue through any additional on-screen instructions.
Once you completed these steps, you can start using OneDrive and connect your account to Windows 10.
