You should listen to them do Helplessly Hoping. All their songs are great but if you want to hear them harmonize perfectly (to me) then that’s the song. Chefs kiss 😊
The normal makeup of a vocal band is a Beatbox, a Bass, a Baritone and two Tenors. In HomeFree, you have 5 Tenor, 5 Beatbox, 2 Bass and 2 Baritone. The versatility of these men is just amazing and limitless! Considering the level of talent they are also remarkably humble. No set lead singer, it's whoever is best suited for the song. Putting it simply, they serve the music! No low notes that are out of place or unreasonable for the song, runs are tasteful not over done and grandstanding. Insanely talented gentlemen! Check out "Playing with Fire ", "So long Dixie"...even though it has a guitar, it's so very well done and Chris Chatham is a lovely addition! Both are outstanding originals!
I think this is one of the best things they've done. Love the bell tones behind Rob's first solo. Luscious harmonies, perfect percussion and amazing leads. It is kind of awesome how they can be so mesmerizing just sitting in a row on stools.
Home Frees' passion for their music comes through every time. You don't just hear the wonderment that is Home Free, you feel it. It's as if they are sharing an intimate story with you. This is my favorite cover from their latest album. It' gives me that feeling of electricity from the back of my neck all the way down my spine. It's so beautiful. Adam's musicality in performing the beat box is creative and genius. I adore these guys and listen to them every single day. Great reaction. You "get" Home Free.
You nailed exactly why we Home Fries love our boys ❤! They are by far my favorite acapella group. We feel like they are singing to us and they touch my soul like no other group can. They are relatable and down to earth and they truly enjoy each others company and love what they do and you can see it and feel it. Adam, their beatboxer is the best in the biz in my opinion. If you enjoyed their harmonies, maybe react to Helplessly Hoping or Auld Land Syne for their 5 part harmonies. They have many originals as well. Subscribed for more Home Free. As a side bar, in High School I was selected for the All Eastern Choir and we performed Chichester Psalms. Have you ever performed that? If not it’s worth a listen, it’s a stunning piece of music! Thank you for a wonderful reaction.
Whether they are standing on a mountain side singing "How Great Thou Art", larping to "Brother", or standing still in an empty building signing "Brothers In Arms" Home Free will always give you a fantastic sound, glorious harmonies, and occasionally really unique arrangements - with Christmas coming, try "Do You Hear What I Hear" that Adam Rupp arranged.
I love that Home Free has brought back Ben E. King's 1961 classic for new generations. The singing, harmonies & beatboxing, as always, are terrific. No glitz, no theatrics - just a beautiful song, beautifully song. They each have channel(s) of their own and Rob & Austin have a duet of "Nessun Dorma" on Austin's that I"m sure will surprise you. Thanks for playing this & your comments. Love from a new Canadian subscriber.
“Brothers in Arms” is a masterful work in harmonic singing - truly a wonderful treat for the ears - a must listen as well as “Misty Mountains” with Peter Hollens feat. Tim Foust from HomeFree another masterpiece another must hear so give your ears some love and give those two a try
I like how you included the story and what it means in part of your reaction. I love these guys, their harmonies are on point and they have said that they truly are like brothers, and I know they stand by each other for real, so this is a great song for them to be covering.
Rob can also pull the nasty, and the grit right up from his toenails. If you want to hear that, listen to their cover of (Boyz II Men) End of the Road. That flip that Austin did, up to his falsetto, was very deliberate. He can also transition seamlessly into falsetto, with no discernable flip. I think that Austin may be one of the best tenor voices of his generation, that said, there is just something about Rob's voice that really catches my attention. He looks like someone's dad, but then he can fast talk, drop a beat, get funky, act absolutely silly. He can do it all.
Never one of my favorite songs but I love this version. I love that this is another song where you not only get Adam's wonderful vocal percussion but you get to hear his beautiful harmonizing as well.
I love this. I love the “bell tones” (that’s what I call them) and that slowed down part near the end. So beautifully done. Their harmonies are exquisite. Nice reaction Nick!🥰
Thank you. Home Free is a favorite group because the different members take a lead whoever sounds best. Their bass and baritone lead I recommend brothers in arms. These guys can sing in different ranges, styles depending on the song. For Christmas, phenomenal do you hear what I hear arranged by beat boxer, tenor Adam, white Christmas (they take turns on lead) and Christmas originals cold hard cash (Austin) and full of cheer (Tim). The album so long Dixie has mostly original songs fantastic.
Their video for White Christmas is wonderful and features lots of friends and family at Christmas dinner. It has Chris and Chance exchanging presents with the other four members of the group, and Rob's friend and podcast partner Beugs cooking the turkey.
Nice reaction. Definitely do more HF! They have an incredible diversity of music, mostly country and country adjacent, but others as well. Other "Home Fries" (fans) will jump in with lots of information about the group.
Loved your reaction.. New sub here.. if you just close your eyes and pick. a Home Free song, you will choose an awesome selection.. Home Free is incredibly varied. Thanks for all you do!
Just subscribed with hopes for more Home Free reactions. To me they are the best! They have a positive energy that comes out and I believe that is a big part of why we love them. That along with the huge variety of music they perform, the vocal range of each of them and the fact they can make you dance, cry and fall out of your seat laughing. Thanks for the Home Free reaction
Thank you for such an entertaining and uplifting reaction to this incredible vocal band. Home Free is known for its tight harmonies and simple-but-complex arrangements. Here they are upgrading their own upgrade of a good song. I especially love the "call and response" transition between Rob's slow phrases and the return to tempo and beat as they head to the finish. Beautiful performance, and great analysis!
Austin has a very clear, bell-like tone, as you mention. Rob's voice, to me, sounds very warm. Like a vocal hug. When you listen to the bass leads, you will find they have a similar variety. Tim Foust has a very clear bass with a lot od control, although he can (and does) give his voice a breathy quality if the song calls for it. In fact, I believe he does both in a single line in his solo version of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay". Adam Chance, like Rob, has a voice that sounds somehow... warmer. When they covered Garth Brook's song "Ain't Goin' Down 'Till the Sun Comes Up" (only available on Facebook due to copyright restrictions) they did the verses two by two. Rob and Chance sang their verses together and Austin and Tim shared their verses. I believe that is because of the "flavor" of their voices.
If you like this video and the show breakdown, you should check out their version on Pretty Women! That’s also a great upgrade s as well. In fact, you won’t find any bad songs or videos that you won’t like from Home Free! Of course that’s my opinion 😊!! Best a cappella group in my opinion!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Interesting. What you called rain drops sounded to like bell tones. Whatever, they’re lovely. I also agree with your hesitation about labeling voices. I’m usually typecast as an Alto II, but in small choirs, I tend to sing to type, through Baritone. If you can why not? As others have said Nesun Dorma (2 country singers try opera) is a must hear! 😅
You listed many things that make them great but the stand apart thing for me is who these guys are. They are genuine, real, caring, loving, non egotistical guys. They love what they do and they love the fans. That is the x factor these guys have that i just don't get from any other group/band out there. Great reaction.
New sub, came for the #Homefree . Great reaction and analysis! Home Free's harmonies, and warmth is unmatched in my opinion. They love what they do and their fans. And we love them right back! They have a huge catalog of music to choose from, all different genres. To hear Tim(their bass) and Chance (their baritone/bass ) sing lead parts among great harmonies from Austin, Rob and their beatboxer/ vocal percussionist Adam Rupp. Check out their version of Dire Straits Brothers in Arms. To check out some amazing vocals, harmonies, bass and out of this world vocal percussion check out their cover of the Doobie Brothers classic Listen to the Music. They will blow you away! Thank you for your reaction! Have a blessed day!
WOW🙃‼️…don’t know where I’ve been…I really Love your Reaction to my absolute Favorite group…they’re such a feel good bunch of talented artists…Thank You for your great descriptions as it goes🙃🙃💗‼️
Love this great classic song from Ben E. King back in 1961. The Home Free guys did an awesome version as always. Love their arrangement on this cover. Great vocal leads by Austin & Rob. Tim's bass really stands out for me in this one. And Adam's tasteful vocal percussion is on point. They are the best a cappella group out there in my opinion & the only ones I listen too.
I really enjoyed your reaction and analysis. Home Free is fantastic a capella group who leans country, but can sing anything from gospel to R&B. Their talent is unquestionable and their musical catalog extensive. I look forward to many more of your Home Free reactions. You mentioned that you're also familiar with Pentatonix and VoicePlay, both terrific talents. But there's another great a cappella group that is a little different. They're larger and have no beatboxer, but sing some of the purest harmony you'll ever hear. That group is Voctave. If you want an idea of their abilities, check out their Disney Princess Medley which features all of the female members and/or their Disney Heroes and Villains Medley which features each of the men. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. Laisez les bontemps roulez!!!
I’m a new sub!!!!!! I loved your reaction!!!! What I loved the most about you reaction is 2 things, 1. I can tell that you are very knowledgeable about music right down to the technical parts, but when you give us your reaction you put it in such a simple but interesting way. You don’t go so technical that it’s over the heads of the ones who aren’t knowledgeable about music, but you give to us straight and simple. And I’m left with “oh yeah so that’s why I feel all warm and fuzzy after listening to “Home Free”. 2. You had so much appreciation and admiration in your eyes, your voice and in the words you spoke. I just found your channel and I’m going back to see if you have any other Home Free reactions. But please more more home free!!! I’m a Home Fry and have seen these guys live once before and am going again next month! They have a huge fan following and I am going to make sure them all know about your channel!
Home free makes you feel better no matter what they’re singing!!Austin and Rob did a great job taking the lead on this one! They call their arranger Darren Rust the sixth home free member! He arranged “How Great Thou Art”!! Listen to Rob & Austin singing Nesson dorma together!! I love that they chose to sing this in a Quonseed… They do support each other… Just after the horrible hurricane in Texas, they Immediately, produced. “God Bless Texas”! The funds from it went completely for disaster support!! It devastated Tim’s home town of Neederton, TX. Two of the disaster workers handing out supplies are Tim’s mom and sister in the bright green shirts!!
Have you checked out Darren’s group, The Blenders? They do a wonderful version of O Holy Night. They recorded a live version in 2020. ua-cam.com/video/pq9jX2KVSBU/v-deo.htmlsi=xWgzgSAV1BmRVSeC
@@jankreps5115 - I’m glad you liked it. I’ve been a Blenders fan for years. This one is my favorite Christmas song by them, Hark the Herald Angels Sing. It’s not live, it’s a studio recording over concert footage, so you get some layering, but the sound and harmonies are wonderful. ua-cam.com/video/kPqKmTL1r9M/v-deo.htmlsi=n1-bB-XCQ-b0oSMg This one is a recent original song that Darren wrote to celebrate The Blenders 30th anniversary. It’s really good. One Last Song ua-cam.com/video/OL30cHsrA8E/v-deo.htmlsi=zBjThWfTAJmFIdSF
That was a great reaction and review of this cover by Home Free. I’ve been a fan of theirs for 10 years (from the Sing Off). These guys are such pros! They have such a great sound and a style all their own. They took an iconic song and made it their own. I hope you react to more of their music.
"American Pie" featuring the original artist, Don McLean. It's harmony heaven. This song also features their newer baritone/bass Adam Chance that took over for Chris Rupp. The beatboxer's brother and founder of Home Free. Chris left the group to pursue a solo career.
One of the songs I have been listening to for as long as I can remember. (I'm from 1963) First the LP, later I always had it on one of my cassette tapes, then I got the CD and in recent years I usually have it on one of my playlists. Although many versions had been released in the meantime, it was usually the version by Ben E. King or Otis Redding. But from now on it is the version of Home Free that is on my playlist and no other. Alternating the lead between Austin's powerful voice and Rob's silky soulful voice just sounds so beautiful and fantastic. Then the unparalleled vocal percussion, truly phenomenal. The great bass and beautiful harmony are the finishing touch.
If you love high notes you should react to their Mayday video. They also have lots of great Christmas ones since we’re at that time of year: Angels We Have Heard on High is all singing (no beatbox), Do You Hear What I Hear, What Christmas Means to Me shows their funny side. Very entertaining!
Wait until you are much more familiar with the group before doing Mayday, though. Trust me! Though you probably won't need to wait quite as long due to your background & knowledge...
If you can pick out the rain drops in the background of this songs, can't wait to hear your analysis of Do You Hear What I Hear. The video might be 45 mins long there is so much going on in that song!
You are a very astute reactor. I like how you hear things I would have never heard. I would love to hear you react to David Phelps; in particular, a version of O Holy Night from about 20 years ago. (The video has almost 9 million views. Good Christmas content? 🎅) Many would argue he's one of the best vocalists ever. I think it's a valid point. Thanks for your reactions.
Love it when singers react to HF! Since it's that time of year, highly recommend checking out their versions of Do You Hear What I Hear, which Adam Rupp arranged (and they did the video about 10 mins from me here in MN!), O Holy Night, and for a fun turn Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer (with a few cameos in the video from some of their musical friends). Can't wait for more of your reactions to HF, they never disappoint!
New 🇨🇦 Sub here for more #HomeFree. Their arrangements, harmonies, layering and percussion are wonderful and the 3rd verses and ending of this one are just exquisite! Please keep the Home Free coming, you will quickly discover they never disappoint!
A couple of Home Free originals that you may enjoy are: *Champagne Taste (on a Beer Budget)* and: *Full of Cheer* Both written by _Tim Foust_ and performed by the older (pre 2015) group including _Chris Rupp_ before he was replaced by _Adam Chance._
If you didn’t notice, when they slowed it down Adam Rupp was also singing. There are a few different songs where there is no beatboxing (Brothers in Arms, How Great Thou Art comes to mind). Adam is the high note that you’re wondering where it came from. Your reaction and comments are much appreciated. Stick with Home Free…there’s a lot of good music coming your way!
In the 4th season of the singoff, 8 show on NBC, home free 1 that season. Voice play took 4th place I believe Pentatonix in the 3rd Season Breaking through the ceiling As to What a cappella is now. If I remember correctly this is off of an album titled as seen on TV. What they are doing is taking the songs from the sing off and now Performing them again10 years Later. Pentatonix is Considered as the pop acapella group. Home free is Considered the country acapella and voice play are the musical theater kids. I think part of that is because All or most of the group members Worked for Disneyworld in Orlando which is their home base. Voice play is not signed to a label. They are independent. They do their own arrangement, editing, lighting, shooting the video and wardrobe
Absolutely luv how you break things down and explain the little things like the water drops in the background. Would like to see you react to "let the music play" or "Love train" Enjoy your reactions looking forward to more. 🤗
Subscribing for more Home Free. They just released an album of songs they did during their time on The Sing-Off 10 years ago. I would encourage you to go through those songs by listening to their Sing-Off version and then the updated version from the new album. If you have other Home Free reactions, you might want to make a playlist specifically for their music. You could honestly start from the oldest song on their UA-cam channel and go through them all without finding a bad song. Three of them also have solo channels on UA-cam with really amazing content.
You should try Helplessly Hoping. Another favorite of mine is Listen to the Music. To see a great example of Rob taking the lead, listen to their cover of Boys II Men’s End of the Road
Austin ❤ is high tenor, Rob is lead tenor. Please check out AUSTIN Brown on his channel “BRING HIM HOME” from Les Miserables Would love to hear your analysis
Home Free is the very best at what they do. You really need to check out Tim Foust - Will You Still Love Me He Tomorrow / Stay. Tim is the base in Home Free. Tim siongs all the trracks in this song. BTW, Tim has a 5 octave range and he really showns it in this song and uthers in the album.
You will definitely enjoy listening to Austin and Rob sing Nessun Dorma. It shows the differences in their tenors very well

It’s not live, it’s a studio recording over concert footage, so you get some layering, but the sound and harmonies are wonderful. ua-cam.com/video/kPqKmTL1r9M/v-deo.htmlsi=n1-bB-XCQ-b0oSMg
This one is a recent original song that Darren wrote to celebrate The Blenders 30th anniversary. It’s really good. One Last Song ua-cam.com/video/OL30cHsrA8E/v-deo.htmlsi=zBjThWfTAJmFIdSF
Austin is doing the bell tones
Who does the subtle guitar notes?

Liked and subscribed. Love Homefree ❤🎉
That was a great reaction and review of this cover by Home Free. I’ve been a fan of theirs for 10 years (from the Sing Off). These guys are such pros! They have such a great sound and a style all their own. They took an iconic song and made it their own. I hope you react to more of their music.
You should really react to Nessum Dorma - Two Country Singers Try Opera on Austin Brown's Channel. Rob & Austin do an amazing job!
How to take their TALENT and make it all about YOU! is all you channel is! Have fun!
Their arrangements are AMAZING ❤
Re your remarks about "standing by" and trusting someone....catch the glances Austin gives to Rob occasionally. Genuine respect and affection.
Another of their Great covers with an excellent tempo change is "Oh, Pretty Woman" originally by Roy Orbison.
This another killer song and video. These boys are extremely talented.❤️❤️❤️
A couple of Home Free originals that you may enjoy are:
*Champagne Taste (on a Beer Budget)* and:
*Full of Cheer*
Both written by _Tim Foust_ and performed by the older (pre 2015) group including _Chris Rupp_ before he was replaced by _Adam Chance._
Your reactions are so richly fascinating and educational that you draw me into your words and better appreciate their great music presentation.
Home free mayday!!!!!
They can turn a machine shed into concert hall!!
What they are doing is taking the songs from the sing off and now
Performing them again10 years Later.
New sub here because I absolutely love your method of analysis!! Here for more Home Free and thanks in advance!!
You should check out Austin and Rob try to sing opera. It’s on Austin’s UA-cam channel.
#HOMEFREE
you should really react to Tim Foust doing Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow / Stay. It's on Tim's channel and he is singing all the parts.
You should try Helplessly Hoping. Another favorite of mine is Listen to the Music. To see a great example of Rob taking the lead, listen to their cover of Boys II Men’s End of the Road
THE "BELL" SOUND IS AUSTIN.
Austin ❤ is high tenor, Rob is lead tenor.
Please check out AUSTIN Brown on his channel
“BRING HIM HOME” from Les Miserables
Would love to hear your analysis
Likely arranged by the 6th HF guy - Darren Rust.
The best their is. Nobody comes close to these men.
It's funny to me, maybe just to me, that Rob in 'Listen to the Music ' does "dodit" and in this one does "ditdo".
I’m so believe Austin is the water droplets
❤
Home Free is the very best at what they do. You really need to check out Tim Foust - Will You Still Love Me He Tomorrow / Stay. Tim is the base in Home Free. Tim siongs all the trracks in this song. BTW, Tim has a 5 octave range and he really showns it in this song and uthers in the album.
What about David Phelps? I never heard anyone with his vocal capabilities!? He is a Gospel Singer ! I like to see what you think of him!
Check out my latest vid!
#HomeFree #HomeFries
Man of Constant Sorrow would be a good next song from Home Free.
Enjoyed your reaction...just subbed for more Home Free! You should check out their video for Listen To The Music...you will be amazed!
Listen to "A Man of Constant Sorrow" great beat boxing, and for fun try "Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget" written by Tim.
React to more "Home Free"
Do you regard Tim a bass profundo? They are just incredible #homefree
Is Adam doing the water droplets or is that an instrument?

Every song they do is better than the original....
They are better in person than recorded too.
Nick, start reacting to Morissette Amon. You will not regret it.
