    Suzie, I've been a cosmetologist for almost 30 yrs, and "back in the day" the training for artificial nails was fairly limited...and God forbid you even thought of using a drill! I can't thank you enough for posting these tutorials on The Tube. I am in need of your expertise and getting my game up to snuff. Blessings :)

    Hi Suzi, I'm a cosmetologist, and I've been watching your videos to relearn acrylics.(: I was wondering if you could do a video on the shelf life of gel/normal polish/acrylic/monomer, and how to keep your products freshest? That would help me out a lot! Thanks, your videos rock!

    Excellent tutorial, thank you!
    I've been having my thumb nail done for over 20 years for playing guitar, they'd look at me funny when I'd go in the salons haha. I've been doing my own last year or so as it's not always convenient to get to a salon. I always thought how skilled it looked when I watched them do it and now I do it myself I can see how truly skilled & artistic those technicians actually were!

    Hi Suzie, I love watching your videos because you really do cover all the bases while keeping it interesting. I wanted a SensatioNail kit for Christmas but my family decided to buy me a Rio Professional Kit (Lamp, tips, gel etc etc) so I now find myself really wanting to learn this trade and making good use of it. I'd really like to see a tutorial for starters or a mini series covering what's out there and maybe your opinion on using different products. Having a professional give us some great advice would probably stop me from buying a bazillion things which I wouldn't actually need. Can't wait to see some more stuff from you. x

    I'm an artist/crafter and starting to get into using gels, acrylics, and nail art. I'm using the paint brushes you get at the craft store for now and they seem just fine. Depending where you live for shopping and mail order, artist paint brushes maybe easier and cheaper to obtain. The number sizes are the same for art or nail brushes. Try art brushes for makeup too!

    Hi Suzie, Just to help a little with how to store brushes. I paint with watercolor and I know a little about brushes, and I do agree with you . They should NOT be stored upright (head facing up), as you said, because any water/liquid will go into the ferrule and loosen the hair/bristles, and/or handle. There is a holder that can be purchased. It is called a Spiral Paint Brush Holder. You can find it at Amazon or any Art Store like Dick Blick or Jerry's Artarama, or perhaps a Craft Store like Michael's (here in the US). It is metal and has a Spiral spring to hold brushes; ferrule facing down. Hope this is helpful for you or anyone wishing to keep their brushes in mint condition, especially expensive ones. Have a great day and thanks for the tutorials. :-)

    I so love your realness. You love your brushes. Seeing the pink sparkly one in a previous vid made me buy one on eBay. I have to admit I can be pretty harsh on my brushes. I'm so guilty of the what not to do to clean your brush 🙁.... Now I will be doing better. I see you work with 10 or smaller. I used to but got frustrated. Now I can't use anything smaller than a 12/14. My current is a 16. I LOVE IT! Before attending school and during I only used a 10 because that's all I was exposed to. Once I got hands on something bigger there was no going back. How did I ever survive school. 😂😂... I hope you have time to make more and more videos. Will you consider showing off your students' work?

      Nail Career Education haha yes MANY videos ago I think:P You are a huge inspiration which helped me realize nails was what I wanted to do instead of hair and makeup which I love doing as I am a hairdresser and MUA, but nothing I really want to do full time, also because I suffer from injuries. I WILL

    I think I would just go ahead and start with learning using the rounded brush. If I'll be using it anyway, might as well spend all my time becoming really familiar with it. I feel like if I learn to do a good job with more difficult tools, I'll learn more about the details and the process and probably eventually learn to do a better job overall no matter what I'm using. Maybe?

    I love watching your videos!! I'm studying to be a cosmetologist. and I know how to do acrylic nails but my biggest down fall is they don't stay on very long. and I thought maybe you can give me pointers on some great products to use and whatnot. thank you!

    I'm 14 years old and I can't wait to get to high school to start the cosmetology course! But because i don't have a job and I haven't started using acrylic yet, how do you suggest I practice my skills for brushes and acrylic use?

  • @TheSkylotic
    @TheSkylotic 8 років тому

    I think a good tip for people who don't have caps to their acrylic brushes is to wrap it in plastic wrap! That's what I do and it keeps my brushes so neat and happy!

    • @NailCareerEducation
      @NailCareerEducation  8 років тому

      Hhhhmmmm I would have thought the plastic might melt into the brush causing a sticky problem / but if you do it and it works- great idea 😀😀😀😀

    • @TheSkylotic
      @TheSkylotic 8 років тому

      +Nail Career Education The plastic hasn't melted on me, although it might be good to mention that I don't leave monomer on my brush when using cling film.

    Hey Suzie! I’ve recently found out some new techniques about acrylic removal and removing the cuticles. I’m a nail tech but I trust your intelligence about nails better than myself. So, I’ve found that soaking your nails in monomer for 2-5 minutes eventually softens the acrylic and it comes off by itself or you might apply a gentle pressure and pull it but not hardly! And using some acetone free nail polish remover to get that sticky stupid cuticle out actually works after that you have pushed them back. It reduces the stickiness of the cuticle and it comes off easy. Would you help me with testifying that? I know it will really make the skin and cuticles dry but I just wanted to know if it’s safe.

  • @lelarobinson5658
    @lelarobinson5658 8 років тому

    you can mix monomer with acetone and the monomer "conditions" your brush while the acetone cleans it!

    • @NailCareerEducation
      @NailCareerEducation  8 років тому

      You could do that. Just note that it will also speed the drying time on your monomer so your bead of liquid n powder will cure much quicker - be warned 😀

      @lelarobinson5658 8 років тому

      +Nail Career Education yes this is very true! I'm a student and I had to lean the hard way about it! thanks for responding! Can you do a vid giving new nail tech's tips on increasing speed and quality!
