When I was in Germany while I was in the military I bought me one. Had it for many years. Finally it quit. Had it repaired and worked for a while. Would love to have it working again.
Got mine in the military too when I was at Ramstein AFB! It plays music and cuckoos...sounds great!
I have one made in the late 1800's. The nails in the house are square and look hand cut. There is no plywood in the whole house. There are no screws in the mechanism! It is held together with little wedge pins driven into slots in the brass studs! The gears are obviously hand made. It still works fine! (it does have new bellows.)
hey so i have a question I don't have one but Im working on an engineering project so this is considered an automation well do you ever crank it up or doesn't just need calibration every once in a while curious. and it doesn't require any sort of electricity either right. just wondering from a first hand experience fellow. Generally, a good Cuckoo Clock will rarely give you any issues - in part due to that it is powered by Weights and not a Spring which causes most problems in your average Clock. I purchased a Cuckoo Clock brand new 30 years ago - it wasn't even a top of the range Model - about £100 - still going!

Do you have a video that shows what to do if the weight is pulled all the way up on the left but it won't tick tock or stay running? I noticed on my cuckoo clock.the left weight is pulled completely up to the hole in the bottom of the wood and it does not seem to move down at all.

You get used to to it after a while. When I had mine working, I didn't notice at all. Enjoyed hearing it actually.
Believe it or not, after a while I didn't even notice it or hear it, especially at night. Personally I loved hearing it.

I used to work for U.P.S. and one day, unloading a trailer, I got a fairly large package, about 3ft. wide by 3ft. length by 1ft. depth, but it was ticking. So I immediately told my co-worker and I told him that I was going to turn it in, so I did. They cleared the building, called the bomb squad and an hour later, they told us to go back to work; that it was a cookoo clock from Germany. I was harassed, teased and made a goat of, all day long.
The next day, I got another package that matched the one from the day before and again, it was ticking. I told my same co-worker and he said "they harassed the Hell out of you, what are you going to do?" I told him that I am going to turn it in and take the harassment, so I did. The Supervisor just looked at me, but then cleared the building once more and called the bomb squad. This time we sat outside for 4 hours waiting. A bomb squad member told all of us to go home, so I asked, it's not another cookoo clock from Germany? He said it's a 40lb. satchel charge heading to I.R.S.; someone got audited and was pissed! One day I was a goat and the next I was a hero; God vendicated me! The bomb squad officer said that it would have completely leveled the building all of us were in!!! GOD is GREAT!!! 😊

Is it possible to use a cuckoo clock in an RV? I just bought one thinking it would go great in my new RV, but I’m guessing it would take constant tweaking. Has anyone done this?
It would be fine when you're parked but moving around with all the bumps and turns will play havoc with any pendulum clock. There are battery powered quartz Cuckoo clocks available.
