Honestly the shot of nappa and vegeta walking towards the camera with an inferno behind their backs is the coldest shot i have ever seen
That made me feel so scared as a kid
Still sends chills down our spine, as a kid remembering the Saiyans are coming fast and Goku is still dead. Its frightening. The impending doom.

The Shot of Dr. Gero is far better to me as he looks like he's seeing the spectator itself and we go to the inside of his mind,to see the weapons he create to destroy Goku,the Z-Fighters and the entire population of Dragon Ball's Earth.
I love how the Cell Saga version has the last scene suddenly turn serious, signaling the audience to "BRACE YOURSELVES" as we are about to get into the story itself XD
Probably to show that in the cell saga they are fighting against time itself all of them are dead in the alternate timeline and are aware if they don’t take it seriously that will be there fate

Here in Latin America they always played us the intro of the cell saga, it doesn't matter if it was the frieza saga or the sayan saga, the intro was always that of the cell saga, so they gave us the spoiler for Goku super sayan and the transformations of vegeta and trunks

They cropped the screen and cut the next episode preview but the opening not longer spoils anything so it’s good, also I prefer the remastered title cards (but I hate Saint Seiya in HD because of not having Soldier and Blue Dream)

On one hand you've Vegeta and Nappa walking slowly while everything around them is on fire,representing the hell and destruction both character can brought to a planet with their sole presences. On the other hand,you've Dr. Gero almost like breaking the fourth wall and looking to the spectator itself with hate as he's a misanthrope who hates humanity as a whole and we,as spectator,are going to the inside of his mind and (possibly) see the hand of an Android (my bet is that is 17's hand),the weapon he created to kill the Z-Fighters and especially Goku for what the Saiyan did back on the Red Ribbon Arc.

For some reason back when I first started watching dbz on telemundo with the spanish dub they only ever showed the cell saga opening even though they only ever aired until just before the Frieza and king Cold episodes.. so I never knew who Trunks was or that the face at :40 was Dr Gero until later.
The Hebrew dub did the same. Used the Cell saga opening towards episode 1 to the end of Cell saga. We were kids and we got spoilers for SSJ Goku and Vegeta when it was just a legend according to the show...
i'm from argentina, watched the same dub and also got the cell saga opening from the get go, we kinda got show a little spoiled lol
It was the same in Mexico. We kept seeing Vegeta transform and the shot of Trunks slashing something with a sword and me and my friends always thought it was Vegeta, and they all claimed that their brothers told them how Vegeta got the sword.

During the Piccolo junior saga, everyone grew up, even Krilin and Chaozu. Chaozu got shrunk back during the Saiyan saga and Krilin during DBS.
in the Italian version there is only the one where Goku becomes SS. Probably the biggest spoiler of the saga cuz they uses this version during the first one ( before Frieza )

The one on the right has the correct Japanese colors. The one on the left, which is what something like 99% of Americans who watched it grew up with, shows its age with a yellowish tint and overdone brightness.

I know I'm in the minority, but I far prefer Dragon Ball before all the Saiyan stuff. Seeing them develop as martial artists the way they did during pre-Saiyan storytelling was peak for me.
I like the Saiyan saga stuff well enough, because you see Goku, Piccolo, Gohan and the others training to prepare for the Saiyans' arrival but once you get to the Namek stuff, everyone else is pretty much useless (excluding Gohan).
I know it's because it's how Toriyama wanted to tell his story, but it never made sense to me why they just relied on Goku and Vegeta and all the others fell off.
They had the dragon balls, why didn't they ever wish for all the Z fighters and the half Saiyans to become Saiyans/ full bloods or to be able to reach Saiyan levels of power?
They bring back Frieza for the reality eliminating tournament and give him a new form/ power level right away, meanwhile it takes a fan favorite like Piccolo almost 30 years to get his orange Piccolo form/ power level?

Yeah the first episode of DBZ had a slightly different opening it didn't show Vegeta and Nappa's fiery silhouettes but had Goku and Gohan flying on the Nimbus from a far distance
When I was in 7th grade back in 1997 DBZ started on a local channel in Puerto Rico and since the Sayan Saga they use the opening on the cell saga. 😂 Spoiling everything from the beginning. 😂😂

The cell saga theme i remember first witnessing this opening when the episode with duel with frieza in namek. I saw vegeta turn into super saiyan then trunks show i thought who the hell is that? A new super saiyan with sword?i thought all of saiyan is been killed? So i keep watching to see who he is. Then he kill frieza.i was like Who is that? When trunks reveal himself to goku im totally shocked.
In Germany we only ever had the Cell Saga version. The Saiyan Saga version wasn't available here.

Thing you gotta remember: the frieza saga is 1st generation vhs tapes, long before DVDs took their hold, however the cell saga was put on both DVD and vhs tape, and was a direct transfer from master tapes to DVDs, hence the washed out color cas tech back then wasn't the best
