Thanks, yes many people have pointed that out, I don't get everything the first time around, this is just my initial impression. I've rewatched the video a few times, it's great!
I have watched this video many times but it is only recently that I noticed that the age of Anoana seems reflected in the time of day that they are filmed so the baby is in the morning light, the little girld is during the main part of the day and the grown woman at the ever of the day as she watches the sun getting low on the Horizon. I love how small details like that might only be noticed after multiple viewings.
heilung for me as a metal/grindcore guy since more than 30 years is a thing hard to describe... i'll try it: sometimes when im listening to them ive got goose bombs, tears in my eyes, the energy of a thunderstorm inside me and a smile in my face at the same time. so what can i say? i really, really would'nt call other kind's of music "metal", but heilung is, at least for me. you really should dive into it. the research they did for theirs songs and the fact that they are trying to sing in dead languages combined with this phenomenal orchestra like live shows. i couldnt even imagine how much effort goes into this... greetings from the region where wodan and donar have been gods and publius quinctilius varus took his last breath!
Thanks for leaving a thoughtful comment, it's great to hear other people's experiences. I should have another Heilung reaction up tomorrow by the way. Very impressed with them, moreso than I had anticipated.
Just got home from work, did some supper, poured myself a cup of tea, sat down to watch your reaction and...yeah, the first time I saw their video for this song I had pretty much the same reaction you did (plus cried some unashamed tears, because off course I did 🙂 ). Thank you for your open mind to different music, and for sharing your reaction. Subbed.
Thank you, I really appreciate hearing that. Most my channel is metal but I am pretty open-minded. Anything in particular you'd recommend? Thanks again
@@metalzonereactions In keeping with Heilung, I would really recommend their LIFA - In Maidjan Live video. It's incredible. Also Wardruna, Aurora, and Oslo Fagottkor: HELVEGEN. Another mind-blowing performance. And, also from Wardruna, the video for the song "Raido". And pretty much anything by the group Faun. All of the above bands and singers can be termed as _Pagan Folk_ music, mostly with Germanic, Norse, and Scandinavian roots. And they all have some very interesting instrumentation.
I loved your reaction to this and I am so grateful you watched this version, I hope it helps to put things in better context. The music is amazing, but the visuals mixed with the story are incredible. Added bonus, if you watch the ceremony they are performing under the eclipse pay close attention to the antlers they hold and how they hold them. The ritual they are holding is the telling of the story to you as if you were part of the tribe.
Thank you, yes there's a lot that I often don't get on the first go around, which is why I am very appreciate of people leaving comments and giving me more information!
@@metalzonereactions feel free. The North ist beautiful. Schleswig -Holstein belongs to Denmark until Prussia won the German-Danish War in 1864. Nevertheless, we love the Danes and they love us too. Congratulations on 1k subs. I also listen to mostly metal (heroic fantasy is my go-to) and Heilung for me is a mood band, one I listen to only when I feel the need for what they provide. Hard to explain beyond that. I will say I enjoy their music more when I am also watching their videos. Stay safe, stay metal.
Thanks! Yep I can definitely see it being in that context, I don't think I will be listening to this on the way to the gas station but I will definitely relisten to it again while relaxing with a cold one
Great reaction, you really let yourself be absorbed. Can I just add some points that are important in seeing this? The most important being that the child is born under an eclipse (seen in background several times). According to previking believs they had very special gifts: hamnskifte (= the ability to change appearance), age shift, talking to animals, healing (of the bird) etc The previking time and it's religion in nordic countries is much more female directed than the religion in the later years (viking gods like Tor and Oden... ). Also healing = heilung in the german name of the band. They sing in a reconstructed version of the previking proto norse language.... AND! : This is mostly a repost of an earlier post I made (just a declaration)
This is just what I've managed to piece together from various corners of the Internet about this song: the baby, little girl, and grown woman are all the same person. She was born during an eclipse, meaning she not only has special powers but the potential for both darkness and light. Her mother singing the lullaby is essentially a prayer that the child chooses wisely which path she will follow. Then we watch her playing, challenging the elk? moose? which turns away because it wasn't her spirit animal. Then she finds the dead bird and brings it back to life, showing that she chose the light.
@@metalzonereactions not sure. The musk ox is Anoana's spirit animal and I read somewhere that the ending was her merging with the ox. Why she needed to do that or how it works? Got me!
@@abrown1301 the little girl challenged the musk ox early on, but musk ox denied the challenge, as she had not learned enough. ( shaking her antlers scene.) If u learn a little about Vision Quest in Native American, its similar. Merging with One's Spirit Animal is a Rite of Passage. No body dies- its a spiritual union.
@@experimentalelemental92 that wasn't a musk ox that first time. It was a moose or maybe an elk. We see her later petting and cuddling with a musk ox, but she didn't challenge it at the time.
I can't remember if you've already been told this, but you mention your preference for metal and if you are interested you can check out some of the trailers for Hellblade 2 (upcoming video game) that is going to feature a soundtrack by Heilung and some of their music for that game is much heavier than this more spiritual song.
As I recall, no, not on the first time. I have watched this a few times since and did notice is afterwards. Thanks to the comments I noticed a lot more as well. This is definitely one that is hard to fully appreciate the first time, it takes followups.
The little girl and the grown woman are the same person. And the bird was dead, and she brought it back to life.
Thanks, I understood they're the same person. I didn't get she was healing the bird
She's not letting the bird go, she resurrected the bird, watch again.

Good on ya guy! I think one of the most touching scenes is where the little girl pets the big musk ox then climbs on its back and takes a nap.😊

It is said a child born during a solar eclipse has special powers

Heilung is healing. For me, i called it proto Metal. It is ,like you in the stone or bornce age.
