Is this necessary for just changing a xenon headlight bulb? I see other videos and they don't even disassemble like this at all. Still a good video though thank you.

That means I have to take off front bumper?
A much better and less damaging way to remove the trip clip as mentioned around 6:53 is to remove to lower splash guard and depress the tab while sliding. Releasing the clip is done by hand. prying the trim will always damage it, even slightly.

Nice video man. But one question, do you know if the clear plastic lens on the front of the assembly is held on by clips and is removable?
They are starting to get a little cloudy on my e46 325ci and I just assume that if I can get them off I can clean them or just replace it.

Can you just replace the lens on this assembly?
Removing the bumper isnt neccessary right? I saw couple of videos who remove only the headlight trim to reach the bolt?

i have a 05 325ci driver side headlight went out and a month later the pasenger side started flickering now is out so i changed the bulbs and the dont work do you think its the ballasts and do you have them

remove your module, compare part #'s with parts in our website. If part #'s match, then module should work.

Great video, but I still have an issue. I have all the screws out, and the trim unsnapped. I can slide the headlight out, but there is what feels like a spring on the bottom holding the assembly in place. I can pull it out about 3-4 inches, but if I let go it pulls back in place. I have the adaptive headlights on my 2004 325ci convertible. Is there something else holding the assembly in place if the lights are adaptive?
Seems like your headlights have the water jet used for cleaning the lenses. You need to disconnect the valve from the plastic hose that leads to the windshield washer reservoir.
@@bimmermerchant It was the water jet. I was able to get the headlight assembly out by carefully removing it over the the jet. My actual problem wasn't the bulb, starter, or ballast, but two of the wires going to the starter were broken. Maybe from the heat and vibration. I soldered and everything worked again with the original components.
How do you remove the lens cover on the adaptive headlamps so I can replace the turn signal bulb? Do I have to remove the entire light module? Thanks.

I was told there was a ballast and an "igniter". Is the igniter one of the boxes shown or is it located elsewhere on the headlight assembly?
Igniter holds the high intensity D2S bulb and is found inside the housing.
Ballast is usually found on the outside lower part of headlight.

I have an 05 bmw 330ci with adaptive. But the lights on the inner part of the headlight do not turn on at all. High or low beam. What could cause this? I've checked the bulbs and fuses. But to no avail.
check your ballast and ground connections.
i got the same headlights and i want to fit halo led lights (angel eyes) does the clear plastic cover come of the front of the headlamp? id like to clean the inside as well? .. thanks for upload

Hi, I hope you be able help me seeing as the video is fairly old. I'm in the process of replacing the bulb but I'm curious to know if there's a way of opening the headlight without baking it? There has to be a way through without a heat gun or use of an oven. Thanks!
Unfortunately we haven’t used those methods to remove cover so we wouldn’t be able to offer a solution

hi, I bought 2004 330ci, passenger side low and head beam both are not working. But when I DIP/blink it is happening. what would have been wrong? to Replace bulb do I need to take out the whole assembly?
You don't have to remove whole headlight assembly however, we would recommend it. You will be able to insert bulb properly and risk hot bulb touching side plastic walls and burning through it.
Thank you I am able to take out and my surprise it was compromised, I see pre-owner solder the wires, and the bulb was broken in peace. I think it was due to impact. well, worst case I prepared to buy used one.. can suggestions where can I get t from!

My low beam and high beam do not work. Sometimes it comes on for a few seconds then goes off and my fog lights come on. I was told I may need a ballast. How do I know for sure or do I need both?
does this happen on both lights or just one headlight?
On low beam and high beam on just passenger side.

I have BMW E46 330Cd 2005, has the same headlights but it's not xenon, don't know why
+Tato Oikashvili BMW is weird that way. We've seen headlights that are halogen as well. Don't know why bmw would manufacture 04 models with halogen bulb versus xenon. Depends on the package the car is equipped with.
It is a way to give customers cost choices. These lights add a few thousand dollars to the sticker.
