Hey dude, I love your videos, but I have a tip for you on the headlight removal. When removing the bottom trim underneath the headlight assembly, the outside end which clips into the fender can be troublesome to unlatch the catch tab which locks it into the fender. Use one of your pick tools (set of four, one straight, 45 degrees, 90 degrees and 135 degrees) and reach for the locking tab from the inside once the signal light has been removed. Gently pry towards the inside of the engine bay, and it will practically jump out if you are pulling the trim with the other hand away from the car.
Awesome Video! You jus saved me $700 from that rip off German shop down the street! They also said my assembly was bad and upon discovery it was perfect! Thank You!!!!!
Thank you!!! First video I’ve found with info about removing trim!!! My 02 325xi has the headlight washers built into trim and was causing me a great headache trying to get the headlight assembly out
I would guess that the ballast is for the Zenon bulb only. I don't see any reason why the turn indicators would be Zenon bulbs. Also, it is not likely that a single ballast would be used for two separate bulbs.
I found the M3 ignitor and ballast are mounted on chassis but where the ballast and ignitor on the CI mounted underneath the headlight I wonder if the CI headlight will still fit the M3?
Thanks for watching. Swap ballast from passenger to driver side and see what happens. If same problem then your bulb is going bad. Don’t forget to check out our website www.BIMMERMERCHANT.com
What lenses does the 2004-2005 cars use? Mine is 2004 325ci with standard halogen lights but all the replacement lenses I have found are for cars up to 3/2003. They look the same?
+trevaris brown True, you don't have to remove headlight for bulbs, however, if you want to remove your xenon ballast or replace a broken headlight, this video will help you.
hey there I'm curious because my driver side light will go out, couldn't tell if it was the headlight going out or the ballast.. I am starting to think it is ballast because it comes on then goes off, there is also moisture in my one headlight. would this also cause the turn signal light to go out sometimes as well??
There could be a few reasons for this headlight issue. Typically when a bulb starts goes out, it becomes less bright and turns to a light purple color, However, when it goes out, it goes out. So we would rule out your bulb. In this case, a faulty ballast will cause headlight to turn on and off ocassionally. We recommend removing your headlight to have better access to ballast. Search for replacement ballast using part #. Check out our website, we should have ballast in stock. www.bimmermerchant.com
Hi I replaced the lenses on my e46 and added halos but since putting the headlight housings back on the car I now have a 1 1/2 finger gap between the headlights and bumper. Just seeing if I may have reinstalled wrong or something.
i need 2 headlight ballasts but im not to sure withch ones i need my high beams work wen i flash them but the regular headlights dont work drivers side went iut then 6 months later the pasenger side went can you tell me if you have the ballast and send me a link so i get the right item. thanks
hello bimmermerchant, my headlight was working fine but then it turned purple/pink and now its off and when i turn my lights on it flickers a little but it doesnt turn on. is it the bulb pls answer . and if it is can you give me the specs to buy it from your site! thanks alot!
hey man, i also got a nfl e46 coupe, and the electric adjuster doesn't lift the driver side headlight, but the electric motor is working as i noticed....what should i do?
could be alot of reasons why. the most cost effective is replacing bulb, if that won't solve problem, replacing ballast and last resort could be your light control module
Hey can you tell me why the dealer charges a grand for this simple job? Lets see 400 for a ballast 200 for a bulb and three hours labour at 110 per hour . No more bimmers for me . What a bunch of scammer bastards . Get me a cheap Dodge Challenger with twenty dollar bulbs any day of the week .
+millwrightman99 IF you find a good, reliable used parts supplier and a knowledgeable independent bmw tech, then you won't have to worry about being scammed.
I'm quite sure you are correct , but my experience has soured me for life .I checked your site and your prices are more reasonable but not cheap .I know the bimmer is an expensive car but a ballast is not rocker science , Too bad the LED conversions are still a bit dodgy . Where is my Pinto when I need it ? I know parked it next to the Vega

Hi, are these xenon headlights can be mounted on a non xenon 328 from 2000 ? Are the wires compatible ? Thank you
Thanks for the Tutorial! Do you have a video showing how to do this for the Drivers side?
What if the clip is broken on the headlamp where can I buy that clip where the headlight trim connects to headlight
Hey quick question. If the headlight flickers a little then goes out, but the side light is perfectly fine, does that signal a ballast problem?
I would guess that the ballast is for the Zenon bulb only. I don't see any reason why the turn indicators would be Zenon bulbs. Also, it is not likely that a single ballast would be used for two separate bulbs.

Is it a ballast, if I turn on and off my light switch numerous times and then the passenger headlight comes on. Great video by the way.
Thanks for watching. Swap ballast from passenger to driver side and see what happens. If same problem then your bulb is going bad. Don’t forget to check out our website www.BIMMERMERCHANT.com
what's the connection size of the socket that you're taping on. The white one

They look bigger than mine
Thank you for watching our videos. They are Xenon.
@@bimmermerchant thanx, but are they 2.5 or 3 inch lenses?
Great video. Id there anyway to change the chrome reflectors, to switch between lhd and rhd headlights, without replacing all? Regards
Can any of you show me a video on how to replace the head light bulb in a 2005 BMW 330ci?
What if only one light is flickering? Is there a ballast on each light?
Sounds like a bulb. Check out our website for parts www.BIMMERMERCHANT.com
You don't have to remove the headlight to change the bulbs
they slide out the back
+trevaris brown True, you don't have to remove headlight for bulbs, however, if you want to remove your xenon ballast or replace a broken headlight, this video will help you.
My driver side headlight is broken not the headlight itself but the 2 clips that have the 8mm bolts the first 2 you removed also my trim is broken

Any idea why only the driver side HID will flicker, switch off and back on ONLY when braking?
could be alot of reasons why. the most cost effective is replacing bulb, if that won't solve problem, replacing ballast and last resort could be your light control module
I want to try switch the bulb to the right side and see if it still does it or the right bulb (now on the left) does the same thing.
Can I not change the lightbulbs without removing them?
You can try, however, your plastic housing around the bulb will melt if bulb is not set properly
bimmermerchant Ok. Also, I heard you gotta heat gun around if you want tot remove plastic lense? I ordered some LED eyes.
can the ballast be repaird? i cant find new or sh ...
Not sure about ballast being repaired.
check out our website, we might have ballast for your bmw: www.bimmermerchant.com
do I need to take out the headlight to put on the trim? or what's the easiest way to put it on?
headlight removal is not necessary, you can just push it in, just make sure you don't brake the plastic clips.
thanks for this. the ballast on my bmw failed gotta replace it now...
You are welcome. Be sure to check out our website for bmw parts www.bimmermerchant.com
