    Here on Vancouver Island we are having one of the wettest years, only 3 days of what I would call summer so far but last year we were under a heat dome and I had to put up some beach umbrellas for protection so I empathize with you guys and your current weather. Thanks Nazmin, I hope you're coping with your extreme weather! I don't have many of those plants unfortunately, we can only grow the truly tropical plants outside here during the summer months so most of the gingers and bananas I grow are hardier ornamental varieties rather than edible or fruiting ones as such. If you're thinking of the same Periwinkles then they're low growing flowers and can actually be invasive here as they grow so well!

    Nice video, your enthusiasm is infectious! I see you're a big fan of the Yucca rostrata, and I have to say it looks pretty amazing, I've spotted a few at my local garden center and I'm very tempted. Can it be left without rain protection in the winter, if planted in the right soil? I know the temperatures are not an issue, but how does it cope with the constant winter moisture?

    • @GeorgesJungleGarden
      @GeorgesJungleGarden  Рік тому

      Thanks! Yes, big fan indeed, I think they’re very striking plants. Personally I’d say they are tolerant of the winter wet quite well (provided good drainage) and I’ve never protected mine. In colder areas Yucca linearis / linearifolia are even tougher but I’ll be planting out both here in well drained raised beds with no plans to protect. So ultimately I guess it depends on where you are and whether you can provide well drained soil and a sunny spot for them.

    Hi I’m here in the most amazing hotel in Mexico with stunning jungle gardens. Is there anyway I can send you the vids? I’m sure you’d love them.

    What happens to the work at the bottom of the garden?

    • @GeorgesJungleGarden
      @GeorgesJungleGarden  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Philippe, it's definitely an ongoing project but unfortunately things have slowed down since I went back to work - I've had a lot to do on the weekends too. More progress soon though hopefully!

    Can you ship me a couple tree ferns here in the US? We have basically no options here, for decent sizes.

      Hi Brandon, to be honest I think the imports are going to be restricted here soon, they've already pretty much trebled in price the last few years unfortunately.

    So you crossed over into God's Country then 😋 I use Vertigrow too, it's got good selection and prices.

    are you sure you've got a gloriosa and not a filamentosa?

    • @GeorgesJungleGarden
      @GeorgesJungleGarden  2 роки тому

      Yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s not a filamentosa but I can see why you’d say that. Maybe it’s got a bit of hybrid blood in it, who knows…

    hello mate I see you like to grow exotic plants
    I have a variety of Mexican avocado that is very resistant to cold, which grows well in the UK
    I have fresh seeds from one of those trees in the north of Spain
    I already sent more than 100 to the UK and they are growing happily there
    if you might be interested in some write me

      Hi Jorge, thanks and that's cool to know! My seed sowing facilities are very limited at the minute but it's something I'd certainly have a go at growing in the future. I hope you're growing some on yourself too!
