    As long as you have the receipts, yes, you can. Especially if they are in a position they have to cheap out so badly.

      Yeah. Those comments about tackling giant corporations were ridiculous from the narrator. OP has the evidence to prove everything was his. Op will certainly win. No luck needed for that.

    The best commute time I ever had for a job was 3 minutes.
    1 day during a heat wave, the store AC went out and it was HOT inside the building. For my 30 min lunch, I drove home, took off my clothes and layed them on the couch, changed into swimming trunks, floated in the pool for 5 mins, came back inside, tossed my wet trunks in the bathtub, wrapped a towel around to dry off while I watched TV and made a sandwich to eat. Then changed back into my work clothes and got back to work 31 minutes after clocking out.
    I told a coworker what I did, but he didn't believe me until he noticed my hair was wet.

    When they leave you will feel it.

    I saw a comment similar to this one on another video: IF you work for a company that requires you to supply all of your business related supplies in an industry where it's standard for the company to supply, you are working for a failing business. See the red flags and get out. The OP worked for a company that couldn't afford the equipment or for the experience; so the company got what they could pay for (out of business).

    • @brandonporter2321
      @brandonporter2321 3 місяці тому +3

      Yeah, and not to mention that it's technically a loan sort of ordeal. Yes, OP bought his own equipment to use for the company. That's the thing, "his own equipment". Meaning OP should still have the legal rights to his own stuff. Especially if he did not sign a contract relinquishing ownership of his property.
      TLDR, if you didn't sign any legal agreement where ownership of the equipment you bought to use at your workplace is given to the company. Then it can be seen as a loan, therefore, the company shouldn't hold the legal right to claim/take it back as their own.

    • @ARockRaider
      @ARockRaider 3 місяці тому +1

      This story sounds to me like he was really into his task and kept buying and bringing his own stuff that wasn't a necessity at the time but was helpful to him, but over time became key to operations.
      This failure is totally on management because they should have seen "this guy is using a bunch of his own equipment, we should probably get our own" or at least "where did this come from, we didn't buy it but are using it"
      So it's also another example of management not being aware or involved with anything "under" them.

    Can confirm, commuting an hour each way sucks, especially back when I was working 16-18 hour shifts, 7 days a week. But, that overtime was worth it. They paid quite well, and due to my position and how understaffed we were, I was able to boss around the HR people whenever something went wrong despite being nothing but an operator, the lowest peon on the totem pole.

  • @Carla-by9rg

    Yes as long as you have ALL receipts you can claim against the company especially when you use your own personal credit card and can prove them on itemized card receipts.

    Story 3: Don't threaten to fire people who you can't afford to get rid of. They were already short handed so it would've been easier to just let OP take the PTO and have them still working where they were for a bit longer, but the boss just had to go and power trip costing them their best employee on an already short staffed team. This wouldn't have happened if they had a competent manager who actually understood what goes on below them.

    "Have we not learned yet that we don't stretch ourselves for a company where we don't have a financial stake?"
    Don't stretch yourself for a company you _do_ have a financial stake in either. That financial stake ("employee owned" ESOP stock shares) was the bait the company offered to get free work out of you. Odds are you don't actually own those stock shares anyway; they're likely vested over 3 to 5 years, meaning that even if some of them are fully vested and wholly yours... three to five years worth of them _aren't_ yours. And you may not even be able to sell them at any time either.

    Personal Equipment Story: OP was both very foolish and INSANELY Lucky...
    If your Employer tells you to buy all the needed gear to do your job (other than in Trades like Electrician, Plumber, HVAC etc.), then you need to tell them Not Happening UNLESS it's put in writing that all the resulting Purchases are MY PERSONAL PROPERTY THAT LEAVES WITH ME WHEN I END MY CONTRACT/CAREER WITH [COMPANY] and the only way that material stays here is if the Company fully Reimburses me for the purchase costs with Receipts signed and dated by me and my Manager...
    OP's lucky the Company didn't try claiming all that equipment belonged to them and called the Police to have OP Arrested for Theft when OP started cleaning them out, without immediate access to their Purchase Receipts and the ability to prove all of them were bought with OP's personal Money, the Police would have forced OP to leave it all behind and/or Arrested and Charged them for Theft and force OP to try Suing to recover the equipment and/or force the Employer to pay OP for all the gear...

    • @Labyrinth6000

      OP has the receipts in HIS name! A company can’t claim his stuff that he bought with his own money. That’ll be like them claiming your own car because it’s on their parking lot even though you have the title to it on your own name.
