THANK YOU! I'm learning this piece, and this slowed down version is really helping. When it starts with the minor keys at about measure 29 with some of the minor melodic scales it is extremely helpful.
Yes, thank you for taking the time to do this. This video helps a lot with learning this piece, giving us a chance to see the fingering on the different passages. Your commitment to helping others is appreciated.
Honestly It helps me in ANY peice to play it with a video that slow. But I think i should give an extra thanks to BackScholar, who created the video But i get used to the beat here and there without the metronome
I have my piano recital in 35min and I will be playing this sonata so thank you! I’m so nervous my hands are shaking haha But you helped me a lot when I was practicing 😊
This is awesome, learning this on guitar and needed to hear it slow to get the timing on the trills, they're pretty tricky with one hand that's also doing the bass. Thanks!
This is useful reference for ABRSM 2015-2016 exam students taking Grade 6, A:5 piece. Thanks for sharing. I always love to watch your technique series, especially Czerny 740.
This is such an awesome piece I'm so happy that I'm focusing on this one now. Perfect for what I am teaching my students at school as well too. Was just teaching them the little cgeg base pattern for the left hand..... So now they're starting to realize how important and useful it is
Pode chama-se precisão estudo e um pouco de talento nato que não cada pessoa tem , exelente. Pelas mãos sei quem tocou isso anos atrás, muito lindo parabéns
Play three trill notes for every two LH notes, that is, as perfect two against three (2:3) rhythms. You need to first learn 2:3 rhythms to do this correctly, but when learned it is really the best way to play this trill.
Hi I am still a beginner at this piece and I am wondering why the left hand at about 2:06 to 2:11 was lowered by an octave? I am a bit confused if I am reading the sheet music wrong or if you have a different one?
I know you asked this a long while ago, but i can tell you, that he's not actively reading the notes while playing. Normally while playing such a fast piece, the sheet is only peeked now and then, because the player doesn't want to be distracted. I rarely even peek them, but having them in front of you, can give you some secruity when you're insecure. Hope i coule help you.
Thank you so much for this. I only wish resources like these videos were around when I was first learning piano. What tempo is this played at in this recording. It is only a little slower than I play now and I am struggling to play much faster and still keep it clean. I doubt I could double this speed. Is it 100?
Strange fingering on the scale passages ? Starting on second finger ending on fourth . Never seen any concert pianist use this so is it easier or sound better for amatuers like this and what text is it then ?
It doesn't matter necessarily what fingering "concert pianists" use. This is the fingering I think works best for these passages, which one has the choice of using or not using. To each his own with fingering. There is no such thing as a "correct" fingering.
Thanks, I prefer your fingering in a lot of ways but I'll stick with the normal as I'm trying to improve scales also. I feel the fourth finger is important here some even seem to accent it slightly but w e it's a good exercise but so many notes guess I'll have to improve my sight readin or I'll learn this and force all the other stuff out of my memory :/ tall the best to you ty
The tempo is MM Q=152 using the double beat metronome practice in use at the time, and by some composers as late as the mid 20th century. It actually means that 152 eighth notes to be played per minute or 608 1/32 notes per minute and thus on the trills it would amount to just above 10 notes per second (5 alternations per second) trilling correctly. The said metronome markings were given by Czerny as Mozart didn't provide his own metronome markings. The note value in any metronome markings is equal to 2 ticks of the metronome. If one tries to play using one tick to the note value, the limited speed action of the keyboard mechanism will prevent the trills from being playable at the correct note values (1/32 notes) and will guarantee to ruin the experience, even with Superman at the piano, never mind anyone else. The theoretical limit is 7 trill alternations per second on a grand piano with a fast action, but nearer 5 trill alternations per second on an upright without "beating the mechanism". The speed required is 76BPM where the beat is taken as the quarter note. 152 refers to the ticks of the metronome, and two ticks = one beat.
Hello, 00:23 first trill at measure 4. Right hand F G F E F E in your video and also other video. But I have seen other video with F G F G E F E...which at normal speed (allegro) is not easy to do. With a trill one has the freedom to add or suppress one note ? This sonata is called "The easy sonata". This is not easy.
Actually, the best way to do this trill is three trill notes for every two LH notes, that is, as 2:3 polyrhythms. This is because two trill notes for every LH note is almost impossible when up to speed but one trill note per one LH note is too slow.

How you can do this without a metronome is impressive! I always end up speeding up.
One think i never get is the metronome i never used it and i dont find myself losing the tempo
I always do this whitout a metronome

Watch at 1.5 speed, it sounds like never before!
This version is simplified. One must say it in an clear way.
I don't hear any note lacking, though ...
Where do you mean it is "simplified"?
Playing in x2 speed made me surprised. It sounds very friendly! I didnt expect that until i was watching as 1x speed. Try it!
Fantastic! 😍
Thanks, just subscribed!

Can you read the notes as well as you play it..? Do you think it is too hard to play with notes as a beginner 😀?

"Super slow" = my maximum speed fir the parts I have practiced 😂
What book do you use?
This is far less than half speed. It's a walking pace for the beat, and the beat is subdivided into 16th notes.
I'm starting to learn this but I think I'm gonna just leave it. I can't play the very fast parts :( I still love how it sounds

Is weird because in this new series you are uploading the pieces that I'm currently playing! Is it because they are low-level songs? :/
WalshSpain No, because they are really famous, pieces that most pianists want to play.

Hello Sir, I've been learning this sonata for around 3 months and I find difficult to play this at around 120 BPM. How can I work on with that?
The key is to practice slowly like 90 to 100bpm, but I think that you reached 120 bpm cause it's like 2 months later.
One must play it slow first. There is no other method.

Your trill is wrong
It’s the easier type
E' angosciante, speriamo che l'abbia studiata per farla piu veloce
Ha he probably just slow down his recording
You’re wrong. If he slowed it down, it wouldn’t sound smooth. But this recording is smooth, so he did it without any editing
the sounds all blured out and this is horrible
