I would have loved to have seen Tim Curry in that particular production. I did get to see him back in 2005 when he played King Arthur in the Broadway Production of Spamalot. (A musical of Monty Python and the Holy Grail that was written by Python member Eric Idle.) It was amazing to see him perform live, and I feel especially lucky that I got the chance, since he had his stroke a few years later, I think.
Another awesome 80's commercial volume as always! When I was a kid, Lucky was my family's go-to supermarket in the 80s & early 90s which had some good times. Nowadays it's Albertsons which is still good.
I was born in 1999, and I'm always a huge fan of the 1980's commercials, because some of the commercials here in the now days feature people who don't even crack a smile but to just give us those serious looks on their faces which I can't stand. I like commercials where people give us those happy, bright smiles in their faces !!!!
To answer your question about Grape Nuts Cereal, it's true that there are no nuts or grapes in it. The reason it's called that is because when it was first created, it was made with Grape Sugar and it had a nutty taste.
I vividly remember watching that premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation, and enjoyed discussing the early appearance of an aged McCoy visiting the Enterprise before its departure. It was a huge deal!
The main thing I remember about Fatal Attraction was the controversy surrounding the ending, which was changed. The ending was originally much more downbeat and depressing, but when it failed with test audiences, it was changed to a more "thriller" style ending with a fight, and the villain coming back after they supposedly died the first time. I remember Roger Ebert compared the new ending to something like out of Friday the 13th. The original ending was eventually released on a DVD, I think. Having seen both, I definitely prefer the original.
In case you’re wondering, the song being sung during the “Me and My Girl” is “The Lambeth Walk”, a Cockney style song that’s rather catchy, and was also a dance in ‘30s Britain.
I remember that old Progresso jingle, I haven't heard it for so many years. At least it's more pleasant than their later ads shaming people for eating Campbell's instead of the "adult" Progresso.
Lol the funny part about Lucky is that it's not Lucky's but even in their ad they say Lucky's. I remember when they went away for a while. We used to go to one in Oakland a lot.
I'm aware of the origin of the name, I was paraphrasing a stand-up routine by Jerry Seineld: ua-cam.com/video/EIfDe02WDV0/v-deo.html and referenced in this SNL sketch: ua-cam.com/video/AsJYmf_G5d0/v-deo.htmlm31s
Oldsmobile-the car was the first prototype for"Project K.I.T.T".. The Memory Of Eva Riker-Natalie Wood and water.. :( Star Trek TNG-using stock footage from The Wrath Of Khan Baby Boom-that facial mask made Harold Ramis(r.i.p) look like a zombie from Dawn Of The Dead Brut-in other words,it smells terrible

Love that you used Tim Curry for your thumbnail. I was lucky enough to see him in "Me and My Girl" twice during that tour.
I don’t know what it is about 80s soup commercials, but they give me all the feels (3:17).

@mudvalve yeah, magazines from the 1950's showed tons of smiley faces : )
Are you Aussie?

I’m quoting Jerry Seinfeld. It’s not a serious question.
Tim Curry was a big part of my childhood.
I was eight years old going on nine years old and 87. Love these.
That forever yours icecream looks so good lol 😆
BABY BOOM!
Always reminds me of watching it on a Saturday with my mom. I still watch it monthly.
I vividly remember watching that premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation, and enjoyed discussing the early appearance of an aged McCoy visiting the Enterprise before its departure. It was a huge deal!
I see Tim Curry, I click
My favorite Tim Curry roles were the butler in Clue and Gabriel Knight in the eponymous Sierra computer game.
@@hopegrimsley3427 Some of his best roles and they were a part of my childhood too, Gabriel Knight was such a great series.
Definitely enjoy everything Tim Curry has ever done!
I love the 80s

Nothing screams the excessive-ness of the 80s like Forever Yours - what a crazy idea for ice cream!

21:28 I have a replicated TWA poster that looks similar to this NYC skyline, interesting to see it come full circle
KBHK 44 was my jam growin up! way before UPN and the CW.
That thumbnail is perfect haha
I'm not that very huge on musicals either, but agree too I would love to see this for Tim Curry is one of my favorite actors.
same here Tim Curry is an amazing actor
Damn. With all the Lucky's closing and feinstein hugging on this senate floor this particular run of commercials was very topical.
Lol the funny part about Lucky is that it's not Lucky's but even in their ad they say Lucky's. I remember when they went away for a while. We used to go to one in Oakland a lot.
The Diet 7-Up guy was Rob Morrow.
damn I remember these commercials and this channel KBHK in the Oakland/SF Bay Area before it became UPN then the CW
Grape Nuts had a "Try It for a Week week" a couple of years after this. I did, and never did again. I wonder what I would think now.
13. They still sell that, it's literally just MSG.
To explain the name Grape-Nuts, the term great refers to the fact that it uses fructose or “grape Sugar” to sweeten it. Nuts… You’ve got me there

That diet 7up commercial Kinda leaves me pissed off for some reason.
Interesting how that Star Trek The Next Generation commercial was made up of special effects from the first three Star Trek films.
announcing the final state of the city address by San Francisco mayor Feinstein.
Rob Morrow in the Diet 7Up commercial
And the girl was in Fame (The original movie) and she played Rachel's co-worker Sophie in like season 3 and 4 of Friends.
Kinda creepy foreshadowing for Natalie Wood
It's no Tim Curry, but in #12 that lady was on Walker Texas Ranger.
Tim Curry is the better Pennywise IMO.
Baby boom is free on UA-cam so after this im watching it.
Oldsmobile-the car was the first prototype for"Project K.I.T.T"..
The Memory Of Eva Riker-Natalie Wood and water.. :(
Star Trek TNG-using stock footage from The Wrath Of Khan
Baby Boom-that facial mask made Harold Ramis(r.i.p) look like a zombie from Dawn Of The Dead
Brut-in other words,it smells terrible
If I see another Alpha Beta commercial....
