I have been in a very serious relationship with the most wonderful, amazing, beautiful Ukranian lady. I have even been to Kyiv, Ukraine to spend time with her and she has come to visit me here in Australia. I am planning to move there this year to be with her and I personally know how important it is to show your lady the attention and affection she deserves. I am old fashioned in my values and beliefs and to be honest I love to buy my lady flowers, perfume, jewelry gift vouchers to be used at spa and massage even a big cuddly teddy bear and yes I have even bought her vouchers to be used at Victoria Secret lingerie, but this gift is also a gift for me. It is not hard to show attention to your loved one and it should be something you want to do, this is not so ething that is exclusive to certain countries it is simple manners and caring affection for your partner. In Poland, where I come from, the Women's Day is celebrated more as a national holiday for all women, whether they are 8, or 80 years old. At that day all women in Poland receive special attention (usually in the form of flowers) not only privately, but also at schools and at work:))) In western countries, where I live (United Kingdom) I would say, unfortunately it's nothing special..

Thanks for the good advice. As an American man, I don't understand Ukrainian girls and culture very well. For example; recently a I invited a girl to my apartment, to talk about my activities, while vacationing in Kiev. She brought with her some pastry snacks . i thought that was strange. She didn't stay very long, and later, I remembered, it is a custom, to bring food or snacks, too a friends home. I should have offered her a drink of some kind.

Okay, watching the video and reading the comments urges me to throw inmy 2 pence. This flower and making presents thing is true for all countries in Eastern Europe. That is what they (the girls) say and want. I am quite experienced in that I used to live in Russia for a couple of years where I met a beautiful girl after a while and stayed with her. There were no flowers nor presents involved. It just went the real way: two people met, fell in love and lived together thereafter. In fact, it was her who left me with a present every now and then:-)) What's annoying over there is these one-sided talks about what a man has to deliver to a girl. You'll never here anything about a girl's commitment. If you point to that fact (and I did oftentimes) they provide you with the standard answers such as: a girl will be responsible for the coziness at home, or she will support her man. That's vague and trivial. Especially, when you are in that early getting-to-know stage.
And guys: be honest with yourself about who you are, what you want and where you fit in. If you are not good looking, why would a beauty reach out for you? - Right, for money reasons! But is this what you want? Playing the role of a walking cash dispenser in a relationship? It's , of course, another story if it is meant as a short affair - you know, that type of ego booster of also having had a beautiful lady. Which obviously is hard to achieve in their home country for many. And never forget: in countries with economic imbalances, which is the case in many Eastern European countries, generous westerners will always get their chance to have an affair with beautiful women. If a man approaches a woman with the intention of getting to know her better and asks her to lunch or dinner (or on any other "date") should he present her with flowers then even if there is no understanding of a courtship? Or should he wait until future dates when they have gotten to know each other better and an understanding is developing? If a man approaches a woman with the intention of getting to know her better and asks her to lunch or dinner (or on any other "date") should he present her with flowers then even if there is no understanding of a courtship? Or should he wait until future dates when they have gotten to know each other better and an understanding is developing?
I guess the real question is; if a man asks a woman out with the intention that this is only a friendly date with the chance that something more may develop in the future, and he presents her with flowers, will the flowers be mistaken as a token of affection and an indication that he already wants to pursue a romantic relationship with her?
S Terry Mistaken? If a man and a woman meet there is no such thing as a "friendly" (nonromantic or what?) Date. That is beta behaviour. She knows why you are there. You know it. Be open about it.
I agree with previous comment, I don't understand the idea about friendly date. In any case a flower is a gesture of having an interest. Fist times, maybe it's not necessary, but when its developing and becomes more important... depends on a situation, honestly.

Why the entire talk about gifts?? You list so much online shops, "to make her happy" ? Happiness should come from within... this kind of feeds into the stereotype that east-west relationships are mainly about money.... So if you have a relationship with a Ukrainian girl she will expect you to give her jewellry and smartphones all the time?

This thought process is all wrong. It doesn't have to be expensive. Frequent small gifts show you are not taking her for granted and that you value her time. It has nothing to do with being a sugar daddy. Did you really think that's what she was saying in the video? Ukraine has such kind and feminine women.
