wow. what a total gem. Dave Letterman. I totally grew up staying up late, sneaking downstairs and watching your show on volume 2. I was 13 in 1980. No internet, just libraries and TSR's Hummarobi. Wow. How things have changed. Even dave has retired. 35 years later is this post from the video.
Palin's Own Pork Sausage 10:01 10 lbs. pork shoulder, ground 1 t. salt 1 t. pepper 1 t. thyme 1 t. marjoram (also illegal in England) 2 cloves garlic 2 tbsps mustard seed Cube and grind pork shoulder. In a chopping bowl add garlic and spices over meat and chop to a fine powder (?). Sprinkle spices over meat and turn in, then sprinkle mustard seed on meat, and mix well. Stuff casings with mixture and set aside. To cook, place a ring of sausage in an iron skillet with a little water over moderate heat. Brown both sides, draining grease as necessary. About 25 minutes. (please pardon any errors. use quantities to taste.)
Hi Don, I’ve seen clips of the Morning Show episode in various collections of yours and they always crack me up. Any way we could get an upload of the entire episode? I’ve searched YT and no one else seems to have uploaded it either. I know you have a ton of requests but I figured I’d ask. Thanks!
I kinda wish that this was John Cleese instead. Imagine the delight hed have talking about Tawny and the absurdity of it all. Now I hafta go watch the blood bug thing.
Joe Simon By '82 Dave had Late Night. This is Late Night done as a fake morning show replete with fake co-host girl. One week of fake morning shows done at night aired at 12:30am. There were lots of bizarre and funny concept shows on Late Night
Monty Python are quick-witted with old lines. There's little structure in their humour beyond immediate contradistinction. Their films are better, though they only add silliness to current themes. Life of Brian, a famous life mistaken. A very ordinary man mistaken for a god-man. Meaning of Life, funny/silly takes on already existing patterns. Still, buffoonery is their style and they are well suited to it.

instablaster.
I don't think Dave so much retired as was consumed by his facial hair.

10 lbs? jeez!
Awesome. I'd forgotten exactly how brilliant the Letterman crew were in The Early Years. Thanks for sharing!
What's ironic is that Dave had a morning talk show called The David Letterman Show in 1980 that lasted only 4 months.
Why do so many talk shows insist on getting the worst chairs to make their guests as uncomfortable as possible?

My uncle is Italian and this is how he makes his sausage.
The woman did a great job playing the part.
Funny Fact:
Chiropody literally means "hand foot".
"Palin's Own Pork Sausage"....LOL

If you’re named Tawny do you then automatically grow up to look adorably pretty and have a perky morning personality ? What are the odds ?
I didn't know David Letterman did a morning show.
Why are the people giggling?!
Making sausages is a serious business!
Sooooo ... what is marjoram, exactly?
Anyone know who the actress is that plays Co-host Tawny Harper Reynolds?
Susan Benoit.
@@dongiller Thanks!
That dame is the early proto of todays airhead co-hosts... :)
Doesn't seem like enough seasonings in the sausage.
I love how you can really tell how much Michael Palin dislikes Tawny. And I love how in general they all make a point of ripping on Dave and the show.
twas joking
What's up with the morning show setup in the first clip? Was that a gag?
This entire show was a parody of morning show vacuous chat.
Lettermen started as a daytime show. It was later that late night was created for him.
It was called the morning show, the logo is at the end of the clip
By 85 Letterman had his Late night show. This is a parody of morning shows with Kathy Lee type side kicks

Who is the sidekick?
Susan Benoit.
@@dongiller Kind of hot in a Sigourney Weaver sort of way
palin was ca 43 here?? he looks ancient
2:16 🤣
What's the point if having a guest on if he doesn't get to explain a film or a scene or whatever? Seems pointless to me..
That's how it goes on _Late Night with Michael Palin_
