I just received my first one yesterday and this Cuban American is preparing Frijoles Negro and Ropa Vieja based on your videos tonight. The black beans are done and waiting aside (I couldn't believe how they went from dried to fully cooked and creamy in just under an hour!!! Can't wait to see how the ropa vieja comes out. I am also looking forward to trying this recipe for my Bella (18 month old Italian Mastiff). Are you planning on releasing more videos again? Fingers crossed chica!!! xoxoxo ~marie

@@LanaUnderPressure Lana, both dishes came out finger licking great! I must say I was worried about making the sofrito first in the same pot and just adding the dry beans and water...but I watched your recipe about 2-3x just because I wanted to make sure I didn't miss a step (I'm a visual learner)... and yes they came out great!!!! It's funny, I remember my 'mami' would always advice me not to add salt when first cooking/softening the beans. LOL, well... I guess that one is a myth with the pressure cooker because being able to use the one pot and start with the sofrito and then then just adding beans and liquid won me over!!!! thank you thank you!! I have made Ropa Vieja a few times but always on the stove top in a dutch oven. Also, it never ever occurred to me to seal the meat before. I laughed when I thought about it since I always sear meat before braising! Short ribs, oxtails, etc etc. Why didn't any of my passed on Cuban recipes, including my moms not have this step!?!?!? I never thought about it since I remember my 'mami' making this recipe from the time I was a little girl on a step stool watching her. Again, I followed your steps all the way and it was out of this world. My husband and I ate this meal for 2 nights in a row, skipped one night and finished it the night after. He was as amazed as I was, at how this magic of a pot cooked everything so fast and beyond better than any restaurant around our neck of the woods in Los Angeles (for Cuban). Since then I have made an 'inspired' Cuban pulled pork, frijoles colorados con chorizo, ham hocks, malanga & squash. Tonight I made a rack of baby back ribs. Everything just blows me away! I'm glad I got over the intimidation of 'pressure cooking'. My other favorite kitchen gadget is my Sous Vide which I have been cooking and experimenting with for a few years now. Ha I've had many dogs in my lifetime, but this one is the most food obsessed pup I've ever seen. Lol that's interesting idea, to make one for a cat. The ingredients would have to be different but I'm sure it can be done. It's been a while since I had kitties.

My dog gets a spoon of Pumpkin P with every meal. I was forced to make a bunch of pie accidentally purchasing the pie mix by mistake after one ill fated shopping trip. Not all shopping errors end in pie.
