Alexander Skarsgard (The Northman) as Batman since he is right age and build. Bill Skarsgard (Pennywise) as Joker. Jensen Ackles as Hal Jordan Green Lantern.
Overall I'm content with what James Gunn had to say, and I am looking forward to Blue Beatle. I also wish more was developed for characters like Martian Manhunter and Hawkman and woman.
This isn’t even the full slate for chapter 1 so we will have at least a few more projects being announced later,. I’m personally quite impressed with some of the obscure choices and glad that he isn’t just rolling out all of the standard justice league members right at the start. A few of them need a little time to get the stink of the dceu off of them😊
Im not the biggest fan of the Shazam movie or the character in general but he seems like he does all right with the material he is given. I’m still confused if he is going to be in the main continuity or if he is now an elseworlds character or just a remnant of the dceu. Some people are saying that blue beetle and Aquaman 2 are now going to be dcu canon and others are saying they are just the last dceu movies. I feel Gunn was a bit ambiguous when he talked about those films.
Correction: it's no longer being called the "DCEU", as that's referring to the Snyderverse Era. Going forward, it will only be referred to as the "DCU" now that Gunn and Safran are at the helm.
That speech didn't sound like it's gonna be cohesive. Flashpoint is supposed to reset everything but Viola Davis, John Cena & Jason Mamoa's characters are still gonna be part of it. Each Director is gonna have full control, which means movies that don't connect properly. His enthusiasm sounded great but the plan sounds extremely flawed.
I’m generally very excited. I hope the Green Lantern series explores Hal’s dynamic with Sinestro, I think their relationship is the best part of the GL comics.
@@DJMarcO138 could be worse like we should be glad snyder was cut out of stuff. like hes great but his fans are so toxic that they killed his chance to do more work. you can tell things are heading in the right direction if josh from den of nerds is raging.
Ryan, I totally agree with you about Planetary. You should send him the entire Planetary Comic Book for Gunn to read. Planetary is TOTALLY is up Gunn's alley of exploring the stranger side of Comic Books as an HBO Max TV Series. If anything, it's very X-Files like in the way that it tells the story that focuses on Sci-Fi and Comic Book lore. What's even better is that there is an entire storyline that ties the entire series together from beginning to end but each Comic Book was also written in an episodic format where each story can be viewed as standalone episodes.
Legacy is an important film to remember the fans of why Superman is different from Homelander. I will miss Cavill, and I hope Gunn introduces the new actor in the Flashpoint.
About Superman, (also my favorite superhero, by the way). When I was a kid in the 1950's, I watched George Reeves as Clark Kent/Superman and was in awe of what he could do. Later, in 1978 we saw Christopher Reeve in that role, and liked the movie very much. The later ones, not so much, as there was too much comedy and, simply, bad writing. But they didn't diminish my enjoyment ot the portrayal of Superman, himself. I, much later, met my wife and son in a comic book store to bring them home after seeing a movie. I saw several issues with Superman on the cover and he was musclebound. I don't think that a person who had superstrength needs to look like he was working out every day when not saving lives. His strength would be formed by his exposure to the Sun's rays, not from physical activity. Batman looking like he works out, sure,, he's human, after all. Batman doesn't have any superpowers of his own, (except his mind, he is the "World's Greatest Detective", after all. But a "Swoll" Superman doesn't work for me.
Agreed. Supes should be built with muscle , but it just doesn't need to be overdone. That's a big part of the reason people loved Henry C. Portrayal as Superman.
Hope they add 'Batman' and 'Wonder Woman' to 'The Brave and the Bold' and 'Paradise Lost' respectively. Just to show it's a Batman and Wonder Woman movie to the general audience.
I think I would prefer Pattinson in the DCU instead of Elseworld, but other than that, this all sounds pretty cool. I'm really interested to see who will be Kal-El, and the Ancient Greek Wonder Woman island.
I think the Matt reeves version of batman would not be a good fit in this world of gods and monsters. He is too grounded to not seem out of place battling killer robots and alien invaders. The DCU batman needs to be more like he was in the JLU cartoon, impossibly perfect, capable of feats of combat that defy reason and a bit more lighthearted but in a darkly sadistic way.
@@mohamedfawzy5843 I can tell you why: Name one other character in DC with a more compelling gallery of villains? Superman has Lex, Zod and a bunch of genetically enhanced/God-like villains (Doomsday, Darkseid, Braniac and Bizarro). None of them has a compelling personal backstory or motive. Wonder Woman has Cheetah? Aquaman has Black Manta?? Flash has Gorilla Grodd and just a bunch of carbon copies fast guys as villains. Batman's villain list is more extensive and more interesting than the next 10 popular DC superheroes COMBINED. Joker, Penguin, Riddler, Mr. Freeze, Scarecrow, Two-Face, Catwoman, Deadshot, Deathstroke, Bane, Harley Quinn, Black Mask, Firefly, Hugo Strange, Mad Hatter, Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, Ras al Ghul Talia al Ghul, Red Hood, Solomon Grundy, Victor Zsasz, Hush, Falcone, Maroni, the Court of Owls, Calendar Man, Clayface, Anarky, and sometimes Azrael.
I think deep down I’ll always be a little disappointed that we won’t get anymore Henry Cavill or Ben Affleck, but overall I can’t complain, this really feels like it’s gonna be something special. I’m excited to see who they cast in these roles
I’m excited for the next Reeves Brahman movie to be honest because it’s want to see who the primary villain is and how the Riddler can somehow be used.
I would like to point out that Flashpoint was also depicted in The Flashpoint Paradox which started the Animated DC Movie Universe which then ended with Justice League Apokilips War and Flash also reset that timeline into the current Tomorrowverse Animated Movie series. And then Gods and Monsters was also an Elseworlds Justice League Animated Movie that had things like a Vampire Batman.

If Ezra Miller's Flash movie is the key to the new DCU this universe is DOA. That guy is a toxic cult leader. You cannot build a universe on Ezra's shoulders. Gunn needs to rip the band-aid off and start over.

@@Isaacisaperson4677 Dude, some things just don't work in live-action, a child superhero fighting crime is just stupid. How is Superman, beacon of justice and the American way, suppose to react to Bruce having an 11 year old next him fighting gunmen and supervillains? No sensible "hero" would ever allow that, not in live-action, Marvel undestands that, it's why the MCU has no children fighting villains and don't mention Peter, yes, he was 15 but that's not the same as an 11 year old, especially since Peter has superpowers, whereas Robins DO NOT!
When people talk about Alan Moore’s run on Swamp Thing I try to mention the Rick Veitch run that followed it. It seems like Veitch’s run has become forgotten, which is really frustrating because it was nearly as good as the Moore run.
I for one am going to give James Gunn the benefit of the doubt. He is super talented. He knows his Comic lore, he's a real fan and so far he hasn't done anything that sucks. With that said I really enjoyed both Titans and Doom Patrol, I subscribed to DCU app way back when even though I knew it was going to be phased out because these shows were so awesome and both casts are super talented. Hopefully James can work some of those cast members in somewhere.
It'd be nice if it works out. DC has great characters, villains, and stories. I dunno about the spread across different media though. I've been wanting some Green Lantern for such a long time. To see Larfleeze on the big screen and Atrocitus and Dex-Starr. It'd be cool if they did a multi year setup to Blackest Night. A lot of people don't know about the different Lanterns or their entities and the whole color spectrum and how it works. It's really unique
Most excited for swamp thing the most. Very excited for the heroes no one really knows about. The peacemaker route is probably the best way to go, and expand the DCU. It worked for Marvel studios and FINALLY Warner bros caught on to this

Really excited about Brave and the Bold, The Authority, and Swamp Thing!! Really sad that they cancel the TV series but thankfully Gunn tries to do it again.
Swamp Thing has some of the greatest source material any show or movie could ever HOPE to draw from, yet time and again people adapting it for screen think they know better and chuck some or all of it out the window. The last TV run of one season was the closest so far, but still had crazy changes that made no sense. He isn't a man who became a monster, he's a plant who thinks he's a man. That distinction is mind blowing and needs to be done Properly!!!

that live action swamp thing was pretty good, im excited for it to get a fair shot on the big screen tho. swamp thing and etrigan are my 2 favorite dc characters
Excited to see this new DC universe and see new characters.
Not sure zach levi is a good shazam
They will probably only be supporting characters.
The Shazam sneak diss 😂😂😂😂 - Pap Brady
I'm just glad that the DCEU finally has a *Cohesive Plan* for movies going forward 🤩
What did you think of the announcement?
I think you just Super-simped, lol.
I just hope that DC gets it's just due. Soany great stories to tell
Huh?
I'm so stoked about Midnighter
The Batman I feel could be the first Batman that can do well with introducing the Bat family.
I thought Pattinson was great as Batman.
@@batmanwins5701 I get that. Too grounded and gritty. But that would also make it even more fascinating when the super natural element appears
@@mattosso7676 I don't why I think that Batman seems like James Bond in DC every director likes to do Batman again and again that seems weird for me.
Thanks for suggesting Planetary. It is really good.
I think deep down I’ll always be a little disappointed that we won’t get anymore Henry Cavill or Ben Affleck, but overall I can’t complain, this really feels like it’s gonna be something special. I’m excited to see who they cast in these roles
I will be equally disappointed if Ezra Miller gets to keep their job. I don’t want to see a movie with them in it,
9:48 Batman’s son that he didn’t know existed for 8 years.
World greatest detective ladies and gentlemen.
I'm excited for the new Superman and finally seeing Damian on the big screen
Damien Dahrk?
You are my go to source for all things entertaining sir. You're doing a great job. Thanks.
Can we please get the live action Batman Beyond finally??
Why would they?💀 Batman beyond would destroy continuity and crossover potential. It’s not worth the time.
12:17 😂😂😂 I have repeated this 384958596 times. Ahhmmmm… yessss😌☺️😄😃
I’m excited for the next Reeves Brahman movie to be honest because it’s want to see who the primary villain is and how the Riddler can somehow be used.
Same. I really enjoyed a fresh take on the character. (As opposed to countless derivative versions of the same story.)
Agree with all the comments mentioned… super excited of DCUs future… great storylines coming along… looking forward to it.. thanks
I doubt Ezra miller stays after all is said ,and done. I like the theory of Flashpoint creating a new reality Jason mamoa's now lobo.
Who sounds better? The Creature Commandos or the Dead Boy Detectives?
Both LAME!
@@theoutlawking9123 you've obviously never seen Batman The Brave and The Bold
@@TheRealSkreegle He didn't ask about Brave and the Bold, now did he, he ask about Creature Commandos and Dead Boy Detectives, or weren't you following?
WE NEED MORE BLANKMAN IN THESE VIDEOS! I literally just watched that last week lol. Keep up all the good work!
I am so excited for the Gunnverse! DC absolutely needed this. The MCU will get back in stride soon and imo, 2025 will be an amazing year to be alive for comic movies.
I'm glad that Batman & Joker are Elsewords. I really enjoyed the Joker, but don't see how it could fit into any connected universe. And Batman was just okay, but also couldn't see him with the rest of the JLA. I'm also glad that it sounds like Shazam and others will survive.
I really wanted to see black Adam versus Shazam. That would be beyond epic.
Guess who shot that down? Duane Johnson himself. Lol. No kidding the guy is an egomaniac. Thought Shazam and black Adam shouldn’t be together bc Shazam was too kiddy. Like he never read the comics
James Gunn looks like Frost from Mortal Kombat
If Ezra Miller's Flash movie is the key to the new DCU this universe is DOA. That guy is a toxic cult leader. You cannot build a universe on Ezra's shoulders. Gunn needs to rip the band-aid off and start over.
Calm down bro its not that serious. Obviously there gonna do an adaption of the Flashpoint story line and going to have Flash reset the DC universe. Then thell most likely will recast Ezra
@@primus3601 Not that serious? Ezra groom's kids among other things.

A couple of projects I don’t care for but a lot of positives and things I am looking forward too. I’m excited for Batman, Lanterns and the Authority the most

Still not going to watch a single Gunn show.
Smart man, don't know why people are so convinced he knows what he's doing, all because he made Crap Squad 2 and Peacemaker, a show about a guy with a toilet seat on his head who cracks dick jokes.
FFS, This ISN'T TRUE DC, this is just Gunn's DC. I mean he brings in a Robin and he chooses Damian, REALLY??? Honestly, the only reason we're even getting Supes and Bats is because Gunn knows he's gotta satisfy the fans somewhat, otherwise weirdos like Peacemaker and obscure groups like The Authority is all we would Ever Get.
Also, there's a reason there hasn't been a Robin in live-actipn since the 90s, because it just doesn't work. Hell the last time we had a Robin, he was in his early 20s, now they're gonna use a, what, 11/12 year old? Yeah, we'll see how that goes.
Gunn likes the word “Marvelous.”
Son of a Gunn with a lame slate and a lame joke ! 😡🤬😡
Give me Swamp Thing! Also intrigued about Damian Wayne on the big screen.

Robin hasn't worked since he hasn't been used right
@@Isaacisaperson4677 don't bother with someone like this they lack common sense

All that old Wildstorm stuff would be fun.
I am very very excited to see what they do with The Authority, mainly because: Midnighter
Was waiting for your views on New DCU and it was worth the wait
It'd be nice if it works out. DC has great characters, villains, and stories. I dunno about the spread across different media though. I've been wanting some Green Lantern for such a long time. To see Larfleeze on the big screen and Atrocitus and Dex-Starr. It'd be cool if they did a multi year setup to Blackest Night. A lot of people don't know about the different Lanterns or their entities and the whole color spectrum and how it works. It's really unique
Couldn't agree more
I’m so excited about Batman( I Love Damian Wayne) Waller, Lanterns, Paradise Lost (would love to see Nubia) , Supergirl.
I like how he saves the most ridiculous one for last black Superman…so original
Most excited for swamp thing the most. Very excited for the heroes no one really knows about. The peacemaker route is probably the best way to go, and expand the DCU. It worked for Marvel studios and FINALLY Warner bros caught on to this
Still skeptical about this not-so-entire reset. Hoping they could bring back and retain Cavill, Affleck and Gadot. But I wish the best for DC 🤞🏿🤞🏿. Excited to see Swamp Thing, Lanterns and Creature Commandos.
The Blankman reference was awesome 😂
Green Lantern: True Detective? Here, take ALL of my money!!!

Grew up a big Marvel kid but im excited about this. Feels like a smart way to do it. Gunn is building his continuity but allowing other projects to exist.
Really excited about Brave and the Bold, The Authority, and Swamp Thing!! Really sad that they cancel the TV series but thankfully Gunn tries to do it again.
Planetary isn't a spin-off. Just needed to get that off my chest.
Wasn't there a short animated piece with the DC Showcase about Creature Commandos?
Swamp Thing has some of the greatest source material any show or movie could ever HOPE to draw from, yet time and again people adapting it for screen think they know better and chuck some or all of it out the window. The last TV run of one season was the closest so far, but still had crazy changes that made no sense. He isn't a man who became a monster, he's a plant who thinks he's a man. That distinction is mind blowing and needs to be done Properly!!!
James Gunn seems to have a deep understanding of DC comics. that's good.
I cant wait to see Midnighter and Apollos love story brought to life.
