No way they'll show it off at someone else's event. They will want to control 100% of the narrative around the console's reveal. Nintendo don't need to worry, when they make a reveal it will get a lot of attention even without the help of the Game Awards.
couldn't agree more people act like just because xbox revealed the series x at the gameawards that nintendo is going to do the same. The notion is just riduculous!
The reason Nintendo's presence at the Game Awards has dwindled is for two reasons. Firstly, Reggie's retirement. He and Geoff were pals, without Reggie Nintendo doesn't have the same branch as before. Second, The Game Awards always snubbs Nintendo, so why show up to a place you're going to get snubbed? I don't expect Nintendo to have any reveals at all. If anything, just a Switch advertisement/commercial. Would love to see randomly Prime 2 gets shadow dropped, but I expect nothing from Nintendo.
The obvious safe thing for them to do is to just focus on Metroid at the VGAs. Drop an in-depth trailer for MP4 and shadow drop 2 & 3 HD. The more shocking thing to do would be to announce the SW2 right before the VGAs and show off a game or two as a case study in native SW2 software vs native SW1 games running on a SW2. They could show enough to explain the differences in the consoles, maybe explain in detail their plans for backwards compatibility and NSO to create unique value for the SW2. Then let 3rd party publishers run wild ay the VGAs showing off 2025 SW2 games. I doubt it’s gonna happen but it would be very pro-3rd party of them to do it.
Dang I feel bad for Nintendo creators this year. You guys had to suffer so many months of basically the same video a million different ways. Hopefully the reveal finally happens in January. Just to have something real to talk about would be great to see.
Let me answer that question with a question: You want Nintendo to bomb their holiday sales? Not to mention, Nintendo's presence in the Game Awards is fairly low-key; they hardly ever drop anything as big as a console reveal. That's just unheard of. Besides, if they wanted to reveal the Switch 2, they should've done it 3 months ago.
I don't think they will show it for the first time at the Game Awards but if they announce it in a own trailer first they might as well show it off at the gala too!
Microsoft used a mainstream event to reveal their console because they needed to in order to actually put eyes on it. There was, and increasingly is, a lack of hearts and minds paying their consoles any mind otherwise. I think the biggest we can hope for from Nintendo at The Game Awards is some Metroid Prime 4 action.
I think it’s unlikely for the Switch 2 to be revealed this month. However, if it does happen, then I think Nintendo would reveal it before the Game Awards.
Most likely thing and the thing I want most from Nintendo at the Game Awards is Pokémon Legends ZA. If it really does release on Nintendo Switch in 2025, they need trailers ASAP.
Nintendo 2020: There will be no new model released this year. Nintendo UA-camrs: They are liars. Switch Pro is coming! Nintendo 2024: Announcing a Switch successor now probably won’t affect holiday sales. Nintendo UA-camrs: 100% truth.
there is no chance nintendo reveals anything at the game awards, not even video games.. especially no chance of switch 2, zelda, mario, etc.. last time i remember nintendo showing anything big at the game awards was the dlc for BotW. since then, nothing that i can remember
I can't see it happening. Not everyone watches the Game Awards, so the amount of people watching the reveal would be limited. Also, in the UK & Ireland, the show starts at around 1am, again, limiting the numbers of viewers worldwide. Another thing to keep in mind is, unless Nintendo pre-announce a reveal at the show , nobody will be expecting to see it there, which means they could miss the reveal if they choose not to watch the show. Also, I can't see Nintendo letting Geoff & the Game Awards to handle the reveal of their hardware. I just can't see it happening.
Not unless they show it before, they won’t reveal it out of the blue on a show that Nintendo fans don’t tend to watch, they’d only do it if they were targeting other audiences after
No way. Especially with holiday season going on. If the had revealed it earlier, they could have done a price drop for the holiday season. But they would have too much backlash from parents who bought switch only for their kids to immediately want the new switch.
@@skaznguyna968 why do a price drop when people are still paying the higher prices for games and console? Switch will get priced lower once the switch 2 is actually out, or a cut price model might also be revealed.
It wont be there, no. If it's released in Q1 2025 they'll do a reveal/showcase rolled into one around January. Switch got a teaser reveal in Oct 2016 because of how poorly the WiiU performed - Nintendo are very much not in this position this time around. We must remember also that the Switch 1 reveal was followed by a proper deep dive in Jan 2017.
@@savaget2058It's kind of the same deal here, I know the Switch has been successful on the market, but most people buying a Switch already have one, the Switch sales have already gone low for like the past 3 months, so don't you think that it wouldn't hurt them much if they reveal it this year? I'm more leaning towards team 2025, but I still hold my hope that it could still be revealed this year, Furukawa have mentioned that he doesn't think a Switch 2 reveal would affect holiday sales, so it's pretty obvious that the Switch is pretty much on its last leg. All the first party games we've gone this year are games that Nintendo partnered with other game developers, and same goes for all the games we heard of so far that are coming next year.
@@iLoveBread260 I mean if they didn't actually reveal it of course it won't affect sales this holiday season. Sometimes Japanese is translated and the context of which they speak is lost
Since Nintendo has ceased production of the current Switch hardware , some one could plan on buying the remaining Switches to try and dethrone Sony's 160 million PS2's sold.
The answer is no. Not only would Nintendo prefer to have control over how they market their next console, but Keighley would have to be insane to let Nintendo unveil their console (assuming Nintendo would ever want to do that) at an event with so many partners trying to present their own products. Showing Nintendo's next console would completely drain the marketing value of everything else shown by said partners like Sony, Microsoft, Sega, Square Enix, Capcom, etc. Geoff would hurt his relationship with these companies who are pouring millions and millions into his show, which is doing better than ever as a result of their presence. The truth is Nintendo does not need TGA, and TGA does not need Nintendo. The Japanese giant will be more than fine doing things on their own as they have, and TGA will continue to grow in their presence as THE game award show that rakes it in with their current partner portfolio. And I say all this as someone who doesn't like game awards shows, especially Keighley's show, but we can't deny the reality of TGA being able to attract millions of eyes on the basis of Geoff's relationships with his partners over the years. Announce the Switch 2 there? He can expect less world premieres from them next year. All I can see Nintendo doing is following up on some of their game announcements from this year, and then maybe marketing the next console at TGA 2025 after its release.
No way possible. There's no real benefit. The Game Awards doesn't get more eyes on it then a Nintendo Direct would. That's why companies pay for Super Bowl advertising is because millions are watching. In addition this would hurt potential Christmas sales of the current Switch. No reason to impact sales unnecessarily.
I understand the apprehension to think switch 2 will be shown at TGA but you have to realize just how many people watch that event. We are talking tens of millions. Directs do not have that kind of reach. If they want to gurantee the new system reaches the core gaming audience, even casuals and fringe gamers, TGA is currently unmatched in terms of reach. Edit: Scratch that, 2023 had 118m peak viewer count at the TGAs last year. So there isnt a bigger audience they could show that to in the entire world. Even news stations and celebrity award shows dont scratch that.
I think a software announcement is much more likely, maybe new custom Switch Lite or joycons. Definitely not Switch 2, at least not outright. A teaser of we’re dreaming
I doubt Nintendo will reveal or announce the switch 2 console at the video games awards this month Andres. Be patient and wait ✋ until early next year for anything switch 2 related information all. The games being shown at the video games awards are going to be for the Xbox series x and the ps5 consoles and PC. The switch 2 is not going to be powerful enough to run these games. If the switch 2 is priced $399.99 dollars 💸 at retail. Now they could show off independent games and third party games that could run on the current switch consoles and the switch 2 in the future. We just got to wait ✋ and see. I'm not expecting much.
I don’t think they will. I don’t see the reason and I feel that the message could get lost in the other announcements of the night. Showing off a game like MP4 with both the Switch 1 AND Switch 2 logo as a tease would be good. Or they could not show up at all and show off nothing. (Not even games) I think the unknown variable is Furukawa. He might want to do things differently so it’s fair to say anything could happen.
@andresrestart great video also great points to the vide. I do think it does make more sense to show the switch 2 before the game awards maybe this week or next week the 9th 10th or the 11th. I do agree we will most likely get 3rd parties teasing their games coming on switch 2 like the 2 other games u mentioned. I think the release of the switch 2 will be sometime between March and May.
While it makes business sense to take advantage of all of that free marketing, and it finally allows devs to reveal their games for the new console, it just isn’t how Nintendo operates. 🤷♂️ No clue why. It’s a significantly larger audience than a reveal of their own.
When has Nintendo ever revealed a console at the game awards? My answer is that Nintendo won’t reveal much of anything at the game awards or in December since we are now in the month of December now. We are now in the final month of 2024, I doubt there will be a reveal of the next console for Nintendo this year. Early next year seems more likely to me than this month. Just like there wasn’t a reveal of the next console for Nintendo in September, October, and November. The likely of Nintendo revealing their next console at the game awards or in this month at this point, is very low.
@ I was talking about the game awards not e3 since we are in December at the moment right now and the game awards is happening very soon this month. And I think the last time Nintendo showed one of their consoles at e3 was the Wii U which was years ago. And I think before the Wii U, the Wii was shown at e3 and then the ds before the Wii. So there are some examples from Nintendo showing their own consoles or handhelds at e3. But this wasn’t what I was talking about thro.
I highly doubt Nintendo will announce the super switch at TGA. They want to control their own market on their products and I can see a March unveil happen.
The perfect opportunity for Nintendo to announce or reveal the switch 2 was at the Tokyo game show last September. Every Japanese game developers were at the Tokyo game show last September. But Nintendo didn't reveal or announce the switch 2 console at or around the Tokyo game show last September. Probably has to do with the Legend of Zelda Echoes of wisdom game launching last September for the current switch consoles. Sony and Nintendo are Japanese video games companies. The ps5 console wasn't reveal or announce at the video games awards. So I'm not expecting the switch 2 being revealed or announced at the Video games awards. True you said Microsoft Xbox series x consoles were revealed at the video games awards. There is a chance we'll see the switch 2 at the video games awards. But I'm not getting my hopes up.
