Have you seen Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio yet? 😍
And were you 😭by the very end?
My gosh, I was sobbing!
Yeah I cry over the ending Especially that Pinocchio’s father,Sebastian j cricket, and the monkey friend died which Pinocchio becomes a immortal independent boy
The 1978 version is the most accurate
Nope, and I don't need to. It's the same story as the other 100000 versions.
Yeah it was amazing 😢
6:28 which is why I loved that part where the cricket leaves us the message "what happens, happens and then we're gone" it's bitter truth but it's straight to the point
"Life happens, we learned and we left" Would sound better to me.
@@Anderson_Anderas nahh there’s a reason why it says “whatever happens ,happens and then we’re gone” it sounds more genuine it’s not suppose to make you feel like you need to learn something , more you leave a legacy and that’s that. You will be remembered for what you did not what you learned 😅
@@Jurico_Noes "more you leave a legacy and that’s that" That's why we're supossed to learn.
With their live action version Disney didnt make a movie, they made a product. Del Toro didnt make a movie, he made Art.
Not art. He made masterpiece medium.
@@jasond4628 still more artistic than Disney
Another difference- one got a live action cash grab; the other is something that has hard work put into it!
I still haven't seen the Disney live-action version, but del Toro's film is absolutely amazing
@@FlicksAndTheCity Disney's live-action version is very good. I shall not give any spoilers, but I will say that just like with the remake of Cinderella, Chris Weitz has written a script which thoughtfully expands the world lovingly crafted by Walt Disney in MCMXL.
@@IsraelNowIsraelForeverare sure it nothing like the original and it’s just a cash grab
@@Gorgosauruslibra that is your dizzoner opinion.
@@IsraelNowIsraelForever and my opinion too. Del Toro's film is a master piece!
I love Disney's original Pinocchio but man, the Del Toro version blew even that one out of the water.
Exactly my thoughts so incredible
Agreed
Not even close. Disney version is way better.
@@joeybaseball7352 there is no way
@@joeybaseball7352 And way more ballsy. 1940 original easily destroys Del Toro.
Stop motion will always have passion and hard work which equals an amazing film
I’ll be shocked if del toro’s Pinocchio wins multiple awards on how amazing the film is
It definitely deserves awards!
@@FlicksAndTheCity heck yeah Especially that it’s in the level of amazement as pixar’s greatest hits
I'd be shocked if it _didn't_ win multiple awards.
@@binkyboy448 ik it took 15 years to make
@@binkyboy448 yeah if it gets no rewards i will be so mad
Del Toro's version has more in common with the 1940 Disney film than people realize - they both make the same ideological break with the novel. In Carlo Collodi's book Pinocchio is treated as inherently evil from the time he's created, and the other characters are constantly chastising him for his evil nature, and even when he's clearly being manipulated by evil adults, Collodi always heaps more judgment on him. Disney and Del Toro both have a more balanced understanding of children - Pinocchio is not "bad" but inexperienced, and both of those movie versions make it plain that the adults exploiting him are more guilty than he is, something that never seemed to occur to Collodi.
I’m not sure how I might have felt about the ending when I was young, it’s a hard lesson to learn to let people leave your life. Today I’m very happy with how the film comes to a close and leaves me with a bittersweet feeling that seems to correspond with my life. I love it.
I would never like when writers don't end the story they should.. keep going always leads to sadness and thats what they did and its awful
I not a fan of disney (Especially modern disney), so when I saw Del Toro's pinocchio, it completely knocked the original disney film out the park for me. Its not just my favorite Pinocchio film, its a contender for my favorite animated film and easily makes my top 50 film list.
I love Disney's Pinocchio "1940", it is without a doubt my favorite Disney. But Del Toro's Pinocchio is a masterpiece, no wonder it won an Oscar, the creator Carlo Collodi I think if he was shown all the Pinocchio movies Del Toro's Pinocchio would be his favorite.
This really proves the "disnepfication" of stories is real and alot of what the original authors intended to show gets lost.
I need to rewatch Disneys Pinocchio before I’m for sure but at the moment Del Toros is the best version for me. Had me and my 7yr old tearing up at the end.
Don't forget about Monstro the Whale being changed into a Giant Dogfish
In the Carlo's original story, Monstro was a dog fish, disney changed it into a whale.
I never liked Disney’s original pinnichio, and thus, the story as a whole. I only watched it a few times as a kid and it never really spoke to me. . . Del Toro’s Pinocchio however. . . It’s one of the most stunning stories I’ve had the honour to watch. :’3c And its emphasis on being a real boy not being rooted in the parts you made of, and the importance of not always just listening to what others and society is telling you to do. Excellence.
Thank you, GDT, for giving us the version we deserve.
Del Toro's Pinocchio is my NEW FAVOURITE version of the story! The Disney versions can go STRAIGHT TO HELL!
Watched his take on the story and it's not bad. I like how it turned out.
Del Toro’s version is hands down the best Pinocchio!!!!!! Just absolutely stunning so much emotion I literally cried near the end so DAMN GOOD!!! ❤
Only 1 week after the release, Del Toro’s film is only being rated SLIGHTLY LOWER than the 1940’s classic.
What an underdog win!!!
Haven't seen it yet but looks amazing! Del Toro alsways does great work
It's an absolutely stunning film, one of his best!
My favorite scene from Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio was training camp scene, ciao papa and song better tomorrows that Sebastian sings during the credits
I enjoyed enough to watch it again! That rarely happens!
not even a competition del Toro's is way better in every single way
No cuz del toros pinocchio design is very bad
@@BOX_corporation. and that thing beat clásico pinocchio really bad. 🤣
its bored actually
What is interesting about this movie is that in many ways it may be more "woke" then the disney one, but executed in a properly done way that doesn't feel force and contrived.
I don't really even feel like it's very woke. It stays true to Italian culture and origin of the fairy tale.
And while the theme somewhat contradictory to Pleasure Island for example. Pinocchio is clearly still very impulsive and not always rewarded for the mistakes he's made. Real art is nuanced and open for interpretation.
@@tompaauwe4565 My point sort of is that I think the movie has better messages and diverse cast of characters without just filling typical woke checkboxes. Like in the Disney version they choose to make the blue fairy and african woman. In this movie, they decided to make the blue fairie look more like an actual biblical faerie or spirit while also being a death goddess. They way they set it up and executed it made it more original and diverse in a way to either of the disney movies while making sense and not feeling forced or like there is some kind of agenda behind it. Thats what I meant when I said its sort of woke, but just not in the bad way.
@@tompaauwe4565 I agree that Del Toro's version is a lot more "woke" than Disney, mainly because it subverts the idea of being obedient to authority, and calls out authoritarianism and war for what they are.
However, one of the reasons Del Toro's version succeeded is that they were not afraid to confront tough issues like authoritarianism, mortality and war (like how Sesame Street addressed bereavement, poverty, and having a parent in prison), rather than sugar-coat it out of existence like what Disney did.
There is no doubt that there is a need for films that address social inequality and other things, but it is going to take more than just changing the ethnicity of a character and then think it's enough (tempting, though).
The Great Pinocchio War of 2022 will be remembered as an example of how to and how not to address social injustice, and we have an Oscar and a Razzie respectively to prove it.
Disney's pinocchio will always be my favorite, my kids love it as well
I did miss the Pleasure Island scene. I think it is a pinnacle part to Pinocchio learning how his actions lead to consequences. Other than that I thought the movie was well done
Well, he kinda learned that in the training camp. Just in a different way.
@@gabebarnes6814 I think it was a different lesson. That some disobedience is good and one must think for themselves sometimes
@@jchandlersabeast Yeah, it's a clever spin. Pure obedience wouldn't exactly be the best lesson in fascist Italy. XD
You gotta think of it this way. The pleasure island scene was the training camp, but instead of boys being naughty and partaking in too many sweets/drinking/gambling/etc. You have boys being taught how "fun" war is. To me, that's a darker take on the "pleasure" of pleasure island.
@@SICProwl Not really. They literally had fun with no real bloodlust desire, which could have made it feel darker. Del Toro chickened out, and in his mind, the boys are too perfect to be imperfect. The only ones allowed to be bad with Italian Nazi dad and the skinny Stromboli. The boys should have been given an edge like in the 1940 Pinocchio, but have the movie still remind us that, bad or not, no children deserve the fate that awaited them. Del Toro and Robert dropped the ball, whereas Walt succeeded.
But training for war is so by the book standard, generic and basic that it doesn't reach the levels of horrors presented in the world. However, a creepy fat, pedophile child trafficker like The Coachman, taking advantage of children who aren't wise to the grim world we live in by transforming them into donkeys where most of them were sold and killed (for still talking) is vastly darker than what Del Toro did. Even his "Monstro" finale was a complete abortion with very little tension, excitement or grit. In the 1940 original, it was the only time I've ever felt like these characters were going to die any minute because of how vicious Monstro was, not to mention having to evade him on the open ocean. In Del Toro, and the 2022 live action remake, they both failed to make that finale feel real.
Del Toro s movie look interesting,I would definitely like to watch that
I can really recommend it!
This is Pinocchio for me now.
The important difference. It’s actually very good
I was fortunate enough to have NETFLICKS at the cottage we stayed at in Norfolk for a week, seeing Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio which did not disappoint. Need to find it on DVD now. The man has made a few movies which I have in my collection. He is a master. Disney is a masterpiece, you can not compare. Just watch them both.
I personally think that Del Toros version is better than Disney's. I was never quite a fan of Disney's older films.
I love how Honest John and Gideon look in the live action. Sucks how they are not in the Del Toro version.
Amazing video 👌
Thanks 😀
I watched it today! ..I would like to watch it again..,.Really enjoyed it 👍!
Wow this looks amazing is it out on blu ray yet
guillermo del toro's pinocchio is my favorite version
Guillermo del Toro is an AMAZING DAMN MOVIE. I mean if it made me cry that means is freaking great 🙏🙌👏
Here’s an alternative-pop song inspired by Jiminy Cricket’s part of the story.
A closer comparison would be between Disney's Pinocchio and Artemis Fowl.
Pinocchio Disney is now in 3-D
Do live action pinnochio vs animation
I prefer del toro's music, I'm not too attached to Disney (even though I have Disney+)
I like del toros and the original film by Disney, but not the live action remake by Disney and the lionsgate one.
Simple.
Del Toros version was real and had soul. Disney's version had NEITHER of those two attributes, just like everything else they crap out now.
Del Toro’s Pinocchio is DARK, Disney’s is LIGHT. 🤣
Del Toro's Pinocchio has HEART, Disney has NONE. hehe
@@dgrmn12345 Disney is cash grab lol
Sorry, i think im missing something- didnt pinocchio start as a magazine stories that werent meant for kids? when did it become a "child's book"? After the magazine stories got more known and people started making versions of it and then came the movies?
I always wonder 🤔, what the hell happened to the soldier boy?
He clearly died
I’ve said this a couple times already, but 1940 Disney’s Pinocchio walked so 2022 Del Toro’s Pinocchio could run. It’s that good.
There's only one possible comparison: Disney=crap, Del Toro=Art
This might ❤ be loved 💗 lots more soon ❤ sharing 💘

the difference is one isn't GOD AWF-
oh right we're talking about the original Disney one
The Disney one definitely matches😅
Everything stop making this movies so bad to me it is perfect in each way
Lets disregard the Disney release one that came out this year and compare it to the cartoon older than anyone watching this......
del Toro's Pinocchio is too different from Disney's Pinocchio.
I think del toros the better design but the original is more traditional and classic
They are both lovely films in their own way and have a wonderful story.
They are both good, but I love how bad the Del Toro’s Pinocchio starts out compared to Disney’s. No dis to Disney’s classic, but the De Toro’s is more on line with the original tale of Pinocchio. He is being a real butt, but he means well. Later, he starts warming up and becomes better. Like how Disney’s Pinocchio is.
The Disney movie is not “the original”. It was an adaptation of a book, also pretty different from the books.
Medieval mexican paintings??
Perhaps paintings of medieval themes painted by Mexican artists?...just guessing.
disney disnefied the tale
the original tale is much darker
my god, in the original tale, pinocchio kills the cricket
del toro's version is brilliant...i just wish he had used voice actors
del toro doesnt need stunt casting to sell a movie
That’s only in the Disney one😅
❤🎉❤
I’m a real boy
Hi im early
Pin? ❤ 😂
Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio was atrocious, inferior to Walt Disney's Pinocchio.
The Disney version is way better.
Guys I still dont know who really owns Pinocchio. I thought It was Disneys.
And Why does del Toro have right to it and not get sued? I am so confused.
Pinocchio is public domain as long as someone makes there own unique story useing a character they are allowed to use that character
@@dwayneasher6765 Public Domain in what sense? I made a character and said: all can use it and no revenue comes to me? Then I am dumb and stupid.
Whoever made it and said its for public use and never gets nothing is the world most stupid brat. Haha
Del toros Pinocchio was a million TRILLION times better
