Forging a Battle Royale in Halo Infinite: THE LOOT

- I've been using Forge to develop the mechanics for Halo Infinite's first ever Battle Royale! Here is a quick video showing the loot system I plan to use when I start building the official version on November 8th.

maybe use overshields like the plates in call of duty warzone. where one overshield fills up a third or half of your overshield meter. make it so it doesnt slowly run out. you can carry like 3 or 4 at a time.
Cool idea if possible! I looked into using overshields armor first, but it seemed kinda limiting so I'm going another route to make Level 1, 2 and 3 armor.

Loving it so far!! In the final version, adding some proximity sound affects to the loot boxes would be awesome! I am guessing you will be modifying the LSS circle for the circle closing in correct?
Also in the full version, will you have teams as well (duos, trios, quads) or just solos?
@@jesseguerrero9815 Thank you! And yes, this will be a variant of LSS I'm sure. Full version will likely release as solo, and will add teams shortly after.
This is cool but I rather be able to see what the loot is from afar so I don't waste my time running to it and have less RNG since it majorly affects battle royals.
Also whoever gets a sniper/shock rifle has a major advantage since there is no bullet drop
I also forgot to talk about respawning
Here two ideas first is quite unoriginal but works
Who ever fully dies turns into the infected
And will convert others via punching since energy swords are op
The second one is whenever a player dies they go in a gulag but with a firefight twist
When a person dies they have to fend of hoards of bots but if you die again the wave restarts Once you get out the gulag adds 1 to 3 waves depending on what ring lvl it is when it's the final 3 rings the gulag gets locked but you can still play in it but you get infinite rockets and mass amount of bots to relive your stress since you didn't make it to the top 3
I give these ideas for two reasons first is because I'm tired of waiting in a lobby every time I die in a battle royal
And second it helps the host of a battle royal mode keep player ingage and stay in the mode because let's be real no one is going to wait for 24-60 players to be done and replay it

Something that makes halo unique compared to the rest of the battle royals ???

@@yoyo21926 giving him some pointers since I don't have the leak build and when infinite forge does come I'll be using it to create a different gamemode called Frontline(name subject to change)

Frontline is basically halo wars in a fps pov
Using inspiration from battlefront,battlefield and invasion from reach
Phase 1 dominion/territories
Find specific places to capture a base
They will be guarded by bots (hopefully ai in the future)once the bace is clear you will receive valor and the progress bar will be filled reach max on the progress bar to reach phase 2 but till then use your newly gained fob to lather yourself with tools of war or you can upgrade your fob to get better tools of war how do you upgrade your fob you ask? Simply do the operations the fob gives you which will probably be the following (assassin or recon) these are like cod warzone contracts
Assassin kill a marked player within amount of time
Recon go to a location and stay there for a couple of seconds
When your done completing your objectives your base gives you better weapons and equipment or hero
What is a hero well that's where the battlefront inspiration comes in
Lamest term it's a unit that has a preferred weapon and a ability that can recharge
Once phase 1 is done time for phase 2

the loot from royales has always been random and hidden until you open a chest, box or drop. thats the whole point of a royal, otherwise is just slayer with 1 life and random spawns

Now make a point system like cod warzone with money to buy weapons with the more kills you get , that would be sick too
I've thought about adding some sort of point system, but I think that will be a possible QoL add later down the road. Right now I'm working on the armor/shield system 😁

To add some juice you can put some holograms pointing at or highlighting the loot boxes, and have them despawn when the object is destroyed :) I did this for no reason in my toy story map, but in a BR with loot methods unconventional to Halo it would fit well

You should make players spawn with the fists, instead of the sidekick
Don't think it's possible, but if so I'll consider it. I kind of like having a few bullets in the pistol though.
@@Skisma_ Hmmmm, well is there a way to have them have nothing in the drop pod, but then give them the pistol when they get out of it. holding the pistol in the drop pod just looks weird lol.

Would you be able to explain your biggest worries with it comes to making this BR in Forge? Like, memory constraints, transferring your current data to the Forge beta in November or maybe even getting stopped by 343 if you step on their toes so-to-speak.
Biggest and pretty much only worry is the budget, both scripting and object limits. I'm pretty sure I will be fine though. I'm taking screenshots of all my scripts so they will be super easy to rebuild and 343 def won't do anything, they want us to make innovative new stuff in the new Forge 😁
@@Skisma_ very cool. I’ve heard that the objects that are fused together are seen by the system as stationary or static or something like that, and that increases the budget somehow. Do you think there are other ways for fans to use forge in ways that can save on budget resources? Have you figured any out?
How about a way to "upgrade" the loot you get? Like if you spend some points at a particular location to upgrade the bullets of a battle rifle to rockets (don't make it that extreme but you know what I mean). Also what do you think about disabling radar and enabling it through a point system or as a pickup (treating it as a UAV from CoD)? I had an itch to make a BR in Halo for fun but now that I see you building it, I guess I can relax and just make competitive maps for fun instead lol
I’m fully expecting for this or another fan made battle royal to take off in popularity long before 343 are able to get out their own and for 343’s BR to not be as well liked as fan made ones, even if 343 has a more polished version.

Do you think you could make the weapons look like different item so people can pick up ammo?
Hey there! Could you elaborate a little? I'm not sure what you mean but I'm always open to ideas.
@@Skisma_ You can change a box into loading a weapon. But is there any way to have a weapon appear as a different object? So that you can gather ammo from it? I mean, a gun on the ground is just fine. I don't know how far the forge can go with manipulation.
@@Skisma_ He means: to randombly spawn weapons so you can get more ammo, but disguissing the weapons as something else so they dont look like weapons while also making them unpickable from the ground unless you already have that weapon equiped.
My guess is you can probably just Give ammo to the player with a command regardless of the weapon
@@TheBlackstarrt Oh I don't think that's possible, but the ammo pickup item I made should work fine. I may even be able to make a 2nd type only for battery weapons and change it to blue or something.

Might want a highlight light with a small dim radial light under the boxes/crates, just to increase visibility a little for gameplay functionality.

Yea I haven't messed with ammo count yet but everything will be tested/tuned in retail.

Haha hey maybe there will be more options in the official build, but these baskets and crates are the only destructibles that make sense. The ammo crates aren't destructible.

Weapon balance is the key. Apex Is great because of it. You can use all the halo gun, but please balance the DPS to give every gun a chance to compete. Is possibile to win Apex with every single weapon, expept mozambique and p2020. I'd like to see the assault rifle as a CAR, the legendary assault rifle as a volt, the commando as a r301, the legendary commando as spitfire and so on. Halo weapons are more interesting, but not meant to be on a even ground. Great work by the way!!!
Thanks for the suggestion! Since there are limitations and bugs currently with Forge, I don't think I'll be able to squeeze in the extra scripting it would take to modify DPS. I'm already pushing it to the limit with the scripts I have. However, this is something I will eventually revisit to see if it's possible later 😊
@@Skisma_ i play Apex since season 4, i play FPS since i was 13, now i m 27. In my career (🤣) i learned what is necessary for a game to be funny. I ll keep It short because you are smart, and probably you Will already know a lot of them.
1. It Is mandatory to keep balanced automatic guns and Bolt action single shot long range guns (otherwise you ll have a crappy BF5 like snipingonly game)
2 no gun should have the power to kill in one shot (for bolt action/shotgun)
3 strong mele + fast movement speed Is the death of any close/mid close range gun. It Is a choice: strong mele OR fast movement, Apex chose the movement for example, and did good
4 Maps should avoid excessive "highground levels". There should be max 3 levels, "Land", a higher level (cliffs, roofs..) and a even higher level sometimes, but just sometimes. I say this because too many "levels" will made "Land" level useless, while "Land" should be the most common level you ll play (because loot Is on land level, or because the "2/3" level Is more exposed by all directions..)

i have seen many "do this like the game that i like" comments, be careful choosing who to lisent to , in the end you know the better rmechanics that work for the game you are making. Good recomendations like highlighting the boxes for better visibility are great but i would ignore the ones that are "copy this game" just because thats what that person is used to

Looks awesome. The only thing I would change is not having to shoot/melee the boxes to open them. It they opened via a button press or via proximity that would be much better.
many royales have breaking boxes mechanics, maybe not the ones you play/are used to but this is fine too
Yea I understand, but there are going to be a lot of moving parts to pull this mode off making and custom boxes would take up a lot of objects. I think this works because breakable loot has been around for a while, plus I am still going to have manual opens for the weapon trunks 😁
