Brian must not sleep much at night to think up all of the ideas he has. Nice Video John, thank you.
Nothing new under the sun the Benchrest boys did this through the 80s 90s it’s all a pain in the ass. A small portable electric fan will remove 100% of the heat signature off of warm barrel.
@@mmgee I still see them using fans a lot
I would imagine that when it mounts onto the magnets it will naturally sag thus causing the ends to go “up” as you mentioned, though that would assume the mounting points are near the ends of the carbon fiber sheet
You did a excellent job how to install the mirage band.
Just to let you know your video's are the most organized I've ever seen.
In the future one can have the magnets built into a stock. Flush fit and neater.
I'm not a fan class guy, but I would countersink the magnets and use better hardware. I think it would look better with black stand offs and bolts, but that's always something u could do. Either way, it's a good-looking setup.
How much does this entire system weigh? Only have a few ounces to spare on most of my rifles.
Since it's being installed on a wood stock, I would've countersunk the magnets for more rigidity and compensated the thickness of the magnets for the stand-offs... 👍🏻
I've been thinking about something like this for a long time, just don't like having the shield on the barrel worrying about effecting barrel harmonics and tuning. Thanks for sharing.
Im not a great shooter but I've always wondered why people get so worked up about free floating barrels, then tape a mirage shield to the barrel. This makes sense to me. Nice video!
This is cool!
Pennies are a good way to measure for standoffs.
Good video. Thanks for posting. I wonder if wind - especially head wind coming at the muzzle, would cause the forward portion of the shield to vibrate/flap. Thoughts?
I suppose it's always possible but honestly that happens already with thinner ones so I would like to think it would be better with this but won't know until I shoot a really windy day.
Do they make anything for Chassis guns? Might be easy to have a post on an mlok attachment to hold the shade.
Right or all the chassis that have threads all the way down the forend for NV bridges or enclosed ends would be perfect candidates for it
You'll really don't ever see chassis systems in F Class for a couple reasons but I figure there'd be a few cool ways to do this with a chassis if you wanted.
@@FClassJohn I’m thinking more for PRS. Sometimes that barrel gets cooking after 10 shots
I just got mine about a week ago. Hopefully, I can get it mounted next week.
Good job John I always use to much glue 😅
That is a cool looking setup!
It's an expensive stock
