  • This is a quick review of the newest Jetstream pen, the Jetstream Ocean Plastic, which is made of reclaimed marine plastic. Aside from the eco body, it's a standard Jetstream with an SXR-7 refill.

Thanks for the video. I am big Jetstream fan, and honestly think this steamlined design is nicer than the usual ones. Reminds me of the Uni F one and the Blen. I like the fact that you can hold it wherever you like.

I have a few ocean plastic things, namely watch straps and even some toys. Works really well for some stuff but it just seems flimsy in this pen. You're right about mixing with other plastics, would have made a more durable and longer lasting product overall. I prefer Pilot's B2P as an eco alternative, the material is really durable so there's no compromise to make.

Honestly, I'm too biased on the jetstream ink. ANYHTING that houses it is probably good in my book 😅

My question is to you.... being a fellow pen guy...
    Whats the history on Jetstream....
I been using them since 2003 for sure. September 2003 was when i first bought a 2 pack capped from WM. I was a police rookie and needed 2 black pens for traffic duty. So i know I'm 100% right on the date.
But when did they first get released ? Uniball used to be Sanford i know that.... but the history

Honestly not sure. It's really hard to unwind the history of these things as they are really poorly documented. Usually the best you can do it go through old catalogs, but they are usually hard to find and then often in Japanese .

I like them, look good and nice colours. I think it should be illegal to manufacture plastic pens that are not refillable and refills readily available to buy. The waste amount of these has got to be many billions worldwide per year.

Entire pen is 75% recycled plastic of that 75% 10% is from the ocean
The bic eco solution is around 78% ocean recycled plastic with 100% recycled packaging

I personally wouldn't pay that much for this design. It's going to be hard to write with it because there is no grip.

Pilot had the ones made from water bottles. Ill say 2010 ? Give or take

Yeah, that was the Pilot "B2P"

Not the most appealing pen to me, I confess. I'll give the b2p the nod.
