There was a cheat code in some of the 989 games to get your player to hit it 606 feet. Either create a player named Scott Murray, or create a player with no last name (and "Murray" would automatically be assigned on the back of your uniform). Toggle a power hit, and if you make contact that's how far your home run would go.
Yeah I think it going to PS2 made a huge difference, that gen of consoles were the first to make sports games feel and look real especially at the time
I forgot I used to have that MLB 2006 game. I wonder what happened to it. Just unlocked a memory I didn't know I had. And yea they do re use the lines over and over.
I remember getting MLB 08 for Christmas as a 12 year old and I use to think it was the game of the century with how “great” the graphics looked back then. Then I look at the commercials for MLB 21 and 22 thinking how significantly better than game has changed in 14 years.
Seeing as I didn't have a PlayStation up until 4, my favorite is most likely gonna be the newest when they come out. So right now it's 22. My least favorite was 2018 where there weren't many 99's, so by the end of the year, everyone's team looked the same. All immortals with a few 98-95 sprinkled in
My first mlb game was mlb 13. Played that game on my psvita when i was 14, i like the mlb 13 soundtrack especially the imagine dragons - radioactive. Nostalgia hits when i heard this song and now im 21.
A lot of younger ppl in the comments . Boy I’m telling you MLB 98 and 99 on ps1 I had so much fun playing. Triple play 98-2000 as well . The rosters on those games was legend, you had Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, Jeter and Yankees, et.. it was fully loaded .
I was born in 2004 and I would play MLB 99 with my dad on the PS1, he’d always beat me. My first MLB game after that was MLB The Show 19 and I realized how similar some of the features were.
didn't have an interest before? For decades now, as for sports games its pretty much been just madden for me up until this year.... all of a sudden i'm playing MTS 21 and 22 at the same time.
@@superior7968 band=grand? I’m good on rtts mode only, much more efficient playing whole seasons- especially if I’m simulating good chunks of it… no real interest in the other modes!
My first The Show was 08 and I bought PS3 because of 08 Currently, I bought both PS4 and PS5. But The Show no longer buys after 20 At least The Show needs innovation every time a generation of game consoles change
I didn’t really fully think about it until now but its cool how someone like Sean Casey is in these older games and now he gives you advice in road to the show
Says something that I've dusted off my PS3 to play MLB 10 The Show. I have about 8 or 9 versions that came out after that. But for RTTS, they have all gradually got worse. Not least as Sony have added more and more PvP and collectables and stubs and cash shop stuff, and tied game modes together so progress is inter-dependent to some extent. As someone only interested in single player and RTTS the game has gone steadily downhill. 10 is the sweet spot. Graphics and in game smoothness are almost as good as PS5 and current gen. And career progress was at its peak.
mlb the show 2008 first one i got- didn't really play it, mlb the show 2015 played RTTS a bit.... ff to 2021 and 2022 playing the hell out of them both- a pitcher for 21 and a 2nd baseman for 22.... fun stuff, the flaws get to me though!
Can you imagine if there was a PlayStation game called JOSE CANSECO BASEBALL? HAHA, I seriously doubt there will be a bunt option. In franchise mode there will be options just like MLB The Show to buy more snack stands, and jersey booths and such. Also bobblehead giveaways, program giveaways on certain promotion days. But also a Jose Canseco promotion day atleast twice a month, where Jose charges 20 dollars an autograph......oh dear. I mean so many added attractions on JC BASEBALL game can be added. There will be even a disable list option. That's when Jose tries to pitch in a blow out, or trays to dodge being hit by a Porsche after the game, and pulls a hamstring running back into the stadium. Because Jose is not used to hustling, and his wife Esther is royally pissed.........Well truth is stranger then fiction, stranger then my sarcasm anyway. I read in Tony LaRussa's biography about a crucial part in the game where Jose struck out. He asked Jose "why didn't you pull the ball the other way?" Jose's professional response was "I'm an entertainer. People pay me to hit homers or strikeout." Anyway, I'm quite satisfied with MLB 07. I played 11 seasons in franchise mode. None of my players had retired. Can only play about two games in two hours, and then let my PlayStation cool off for three hours, otherwise the game freezes up. It's a PlayStation where I can't take it apart and vacuum the dust out, it's one of them newer models of PlayStation 3. Oh well.
No more for me. Didn't buy this year, wish I had not bought last year. Ballplayer and perks "for sale" has absolutely ruined Road to the Show, the only mode I like to play. I want to make a lot of different players and be able to play them whenever, not this cut down excuse for a mode they have now. I know why... RTTS folded into the main game means no separate game mode to have to update every few years, so they save $$$$. It's aaalllllll about the money. I still play 20 when I need a fix.
This is the most egregious recycling I have ever seen. The games been the same besides minor tweaks for a decade. Same player models from PS3. A lot of the same animations from PS3, and until they changed commentary, a lot of the same lines
606 feet?! 572 feet?! I guess the games were realistic at the beginning, they were on roids.
Lol
lmao

I Literally just said that lol
There’s a huge difference from 2003 to 2004. You could see the switch from retro style to more of a modern look
It could be bc they switched consoles from ps to ps2 and those graphics were really different
I see what you mean
Yeah I think it going to PS2 made a huge difference, that gen of consoles were the first to make sports games feel and look real especially at the time
Game visuals havent made a leap that drastic since then tbh. Just slight improvement each year. I wonder why.
09 was the best imo. Everything felt so smooth in it.
This is cool everything but it makes me also realize that MLB the show uses a lot of the same animations for a very long time
Every video game that has multiple releases will re-use assets.
@@Ikasnu yeah I know but when you see it for like fucking seven years in a row it’s kind of wack
@@EdwinAlguera Hah true. Whats even crazier to me was the Vasgersian lines from his first year still being played in 2021.
Jesus, they were recycling that “early trouble for them” line from Vasgersian since 2005

Amazing progression, but also insane how through 22 [so far] they're still using the same voice lines for certain events as '06.
They also gotta expand their soundtrack to like 50-70 ish songs like Madden and 2k

What is your favorite Mlb the show? What do you think of MLB 22 ? thank you
I just started playing MLB 22 today and I love it. I'm also ready for the season. What about you?
I think the commentary sounds a bit off in 22 in my opinion
My favorites are 20 17 16 13

I’m loving the new game on my PS5 👍🏾
I’m just glad we finally have a new announcer in 22 we had the same guy from like 2006 to 2021
Pennant Race was the first baseball game I ever owned on PS1. Switched to Xbox and now I have the show 22. Everything comes back full circle.
EA, take notes. This is progressive improvement.
I mean EA did make MVP baseball 2005
14 looked better than 22
The voice lines are the same form 04 to 22

I bought 2022 for £10 on the Switch. Happy days.
they gotta change something it feels like we playing the same game over and over
First PS1 baseball game I had was MLB 98...I played that thing to death when I was a 9 year old. Memories!
I have mlb 2006 still and the lines they use are identical to what they use to this day 🤣🤦♂️
Mlb 11 the show will live in my ❤️ forever.

Until the show 22, The Announcer has the same lines from the show 06 to 21
R.I.P. Vin Scully.
09-current day hasn’t changed
I wish you used the people on the covers of the games that would've been cool to see
The original Pennant Race was one of the first games I bought when I got my first Playstation
Me too!
I remember playing majority of these on a PSP and PSvita as a kid
I had 2 versions on the Vita both crashed at a certain point in RTTS at about the same place. Could never progress even to June in the first season.
The ps2 was a gamechanger

08,09,10,11,12 but 13&14 seems like they changed some things up. Still better than any of the newer gen games.
I didn't get into MLB The Show until 18, 20, 21, and now 22. So I'm pretty much a newcomer to the series.

Came a long way, so shocking
This bring back so manny good memories. What hitting did u guys use
0:00 8:16 look at the graphics bro…
This is awesome
The BEST part is the announcer, haters.
Mostly, it was the legendary Vin Scully. Respected and remembered around the world.
Sheesh.
labeling but 07' is masterpiece
The show 22 is the best
the ONLY voice that mlb should've used is Vin Skully's😭
looks like the mlb9innings22 only stays at 2006.
I have mlb the show 2020 and just load user created rosters whenever a new game comes out with the new seasons rosters lol
1999 had Vin Scully, so it was best.
why was mlb 2000 released before the 1999 MLB season even started
MLB 10 was perfection, MLB 09 was a close second
legendary twins announcer from FSN north should come to mlb the show

Kinda funny how the show 09 had better graphics the RBI baseball 21

Crazy
I noticed on the show 19 was Harper on the cover but it was really Aaron judge on the show 19 cover
Judge was on 18
and one more thing look at these scoreboards look cool
Miss Alot of these hitting cameras
After MVP baseball got canned, I moved over to this game.
The "one run blast" stuff is bothersome. Solo. Solo HR
22 is fun as hell I’m addicted to the Road to the show mode. My batter gonna be a beast 🔥❗️
