Super underrated car in my opinion. N57 engine is very reliable, makes great power from factory and can push these motors pretty far if you want to tune them. Pretty quick from factory and is a bit of a sleeper if you don’t throw a bunch of M badges and a spoiler on it. To most people’s surprise this series platform is actually pretty reliable too Timeless styling inside the car and out and won’t look outdated for years to come

plus people don't get that diesel cars have way more torque(nm) than petrol. Although petrol cars can make way higher horse power. I currently own a 550D with stage 2 that has 1000nm on paper. But but only 480hp. while the real m5 (stock) is 600hp and 750nm. I probably win at launch but lose at high speeds

@@makemwet2488 what you don't understand is that you have to account for the final drive ratio when you're looking at torque. The quoted torque does not account for gear ratios. Diesels run longer gear ratios to account for their lower rev limit. So the torque figure you're so proud of instantly loses about 40% of its effectiveness

Of course the Diesel engine at idling has a tractor like sound. BUT HOLY SHIT.. when you took off that DIDNT sound like a diesel.. more a V8 !! How did you do that.. and can that be done to a 520d or 525d ? What if I do this to 535d ?
It actually sounds good though and it does sound like around 4k rpms, all bmw diesels rarely go above 4500. I wonder if my 2.0d can sound nearly as good. I love my engine, i just miss some sound

am i the only who actually loves the sound of straight piped diesels?? especially these turbocharged straight six bmw engines. i used to have a straight piped 330d and i freaking loved the way it sounded. i currently have a 335d that i have also planned to straight pipe. yes they do sound like semi trucks but i love trucks so i don’t care about that.

520d has 4 cylinders.So it can not sound like 530d but 535d would sound even better.

Because it's a modern common rail diesel and the tuning likely isn't shit.
It likely will have some smoke on hard pulls at higher RPMs though.
