I was around 11 when the eagles lost to the Patriots in 2004. 15 years later i watched them get a ring with a backup QB against the same team who robbed us before. When Brandon Graham stripped the ball in the 4th i knew it was over. Go Birds
One of my favorite games ever. I also liked a fair number of the Steelers' playoffs (and Super Bowl games with Big Ben, since 2004.) I recall almost "umping into the TV screen when only seconds left and Pittsburgh would score, etc. Thanks for comment. I like the Eagles and I know New England had some years that were mostly all good players...as the Steelers did in 1970's. Last, that hype re Brady is too much for me; one would think he won all the games by himself. He mostly had a lot of fine receivers and they built an offensive plan that worked amazingly...not to take anything from Brady but I remember the Packers and Steelers especially were great because they had a running game and passing game, they also had emphasis on their Special Teams and etc. Take away the couple of great wide receivers in those years and things wd be different. Only a thought but some make these sports figures like gods.
From an outside perspective this is one of the greatest underdog stories in the history of sports, if you live in Phildelphia or Pennsylvania you know this is the underdog kicking the champion in the ass and handing it to em.
Eagles were by no means the underdog going into this game, they outmatched the Patriots at every single position except QB and TE. Tom Brady single-handedly dragged a bottom 5 defense to a drive away from a SB win.
Ill never forget my Dad had Eagles 1 Patriots 3 in a pool, such shitty numbers. He went to bed thinking he wasted $150, I woke him up 30 minutes later and told him "Dad if the Eagles kick a field goal you could win $10,000!" he stayed up with me and watched the rest of the game. I've never celebrated with my father so hard before, we were ecstatic.
Same thing happened with my dad in Super Bowl 49! When the pats scored late he got so excited because he won a couple hundred bucks. But then when he realized if that was the final score he’d win a few thousand, it became very tense. He looked on the verge of tears when the Seahawks drove to the two. But when Russ threw that interception and we realized he won, he started jumping up and down on the bed and giggling like a little girl😂 one of the most excited moments I’ve ever seen with my dad. It paid for a family vacation to San Francisco the next month. God bless Super Bowl pools lol
Collinsworth and Michaels were about to have Bradys baby after they realized Brady had another opportunity to drive down the field and win a SB, but was denied. The surprise in their voice to see Brady fumble was glorious. Love this game.
MEEEEH Idk about greatest. But it was a damn fun one. As a Jags fan who believed Myles Jack Wasnt Down.. I loved watching the Eagles smack them Patriots in the mouth.
Spoken like a little fanboy......greatest night in Philadelphia history is July 2, 1776....you DO realize this is the United States of America and our Independence MEANS everything, not watching millionaires paid by billionaires....GROW UP Sally !
The strip sack was really just as big as the Philly Special, and Derek Barnett's recovery was underrated on that. He had the awareness and hand-skills to grab a bouncing ball in midair in a clutch moment and fall on it, rather than try to run with it first. There have been so many plays like that where the defenseman can't grasp the ball or tries to run before securing it, only to give it back up to the offense. Of course, clutch play by Graham, as well..
barnett also sacked and i think also stripped case keenum in nfc champ game while the vikings were still just 7 pts down. Barnett has been a better success than most fans think
Bigger!! That saved the game in the moment it needed to happen!! They needed a turnover to win the Super Bowl. Nick Foles grabbed one of the defense players Malcolm Jenkins I believe, and screamed STRIP EM!!! STRIP EM!!! And they did! He knew that Brady was gonna drive down and win if Brandon Graham didnt do that!!

Man that sack fumble at the end is going to be so iconic 20 years from now... It is going to become the "Down goes Frasier." moment of the NFL... I have never seen such a clutch moment by a defense who really struggled all game.
I’m not blaming Tom for this because god knows I wouldn’t have done any better, but how the hell did that happen. He wasn’t blindsided, that rusher came from the inside to his right. Wasn’t even an edge rusher!
@@bigpapi6688 I think he didn't expect his arm to reach out the way it did bc the blocker was right in front of him.... Graham gave it his all and tom just wasn't ready for it... I mean he had thrown for 500 yards and was a statue in the pocket all night .... He got too comfortable.
damn bro you can see how badly this team wanted it, when they ran it was like they ran in fast motion, when they tackled they did it with all of their heart.
I was 10 when my heart broke from Tom Brady winning Super bowl 39 against the Eagles.. for the Eagles to win their first Super bowl against Brady & Belichick..with a backup QB.. days before my birthday.. was as sweet as it gets..🦅
To be fair the Eagles were about to drive and win that one in 2005 too, but Donovan McNabb got sick and started vomiting in the huddle so they couldn't get run the no-huddle fast enough. True story, look it up!
BRO WE LITERALLY ALMOST HAVE THE SAME EXACT STORY!! the first SB I watched was 39, and since Philly lost I became a fan (I wasn’t a fan of any team at the time) thinking they would come back and win over the Pats, plus I became a big fan of McNabb, T.O, Westbrook, Dawkins.. and I became a Philly fan…. I was 9 at the time.. but we never got back but I was heavily in attention to what Philly was doing every year, mid 2010s were rough, but 2017 was something special, then this game happened, it was down to the wire, I was on edge, then I literally cried when we actually won, I’ll never forget, and a part of my childhood and life is complete in a way and can die happily that my fav team accomplished winning a SB in my lifetime, but what also made it even better was that they beat the Pats, just like I hoped they would back then…. Can’t write that lol
Brazilian here. Quarentine made me watch EVERY SINGLE copa libertadores and UCL final since 2000. Ain't got any more soccer games to watch, then here we are. Just hope Im not the only one doing this Lol
Watch both semifinals of 2006 World Cup......France vs Brazil (best individual game as a center mid)..Zidane. And Germany vs Italy. (The best game I have ever seen.) Than watch France vs Italy in final...
After the birth of my daughter this was the best day of my life! Watching my Birds beat Tom Brady and the Patriots the way they did it with the Philly Special and being on Broad Street the night they won and for the Parade! Priceless! 🦅🦅🦅
As a Jets fan, this was the best super bowl i’ve ever watched in the history of the game. Especially seeing the Pats take an L against a team that outplayed them.

I can't believe we watched the best Superbowl of all time without realizing it till years later. Such a beautiful game I'm glad i watched this live and I'm not even a fan of either team. My most favorite Superbowl
i am an Eagles fan, but I think Packers-Steelers was a pretty cool game as well. Rodgers mastery was absolutely brilliant. It is a shame that he does not have more rings.
i remember watching the game live and hearing "philly special" under the announcer before the play and before i could speak up they just absolutely shocked everyone with that play.

This was such a fun and really great Super Bowl to watch. Just two offenses at their highest peak going at each other, as well as, defenses making plays. Great game.
The plays that were made in this game is what separates this game from any other. Replays show incredible determination by all. No one wanted to lose even til the last second of the game.
Doug Pederson was just fired after a 5 year stint in Philly and the man has a statue of himself outside the stadium, and he will be inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame after only being a coach for 5 years. Whether you like it or not he has had an impressive impact on the city of Philadelphia.
@@jayritchie851 That's absurd. You forget Wentz had just had his best season and looked like he was heading for a mega career. He was the biggest reason the Eagle had the no 1 seed and were in the Super Bowl. Don't get me wrong, I love Nick Foles for what he did, but he was still a journeyman at the end of the day who picked the right time to have the best two games of his career. No coach in the NFL was going to bench their younger franchise QB who just led the team to a 13-3 season for an older journeyman who had had a dubious career and two great games, even if it was the Super Bowl. No one could have predicted after a monster season like that Wentz was going to inexplicably fall off the map.
Josh Light, as soon as he went back to Wentz, I said "big mistake.' Once you mess with team chemistry, it's the beginning of the end. Judging by the way it all eventually played out, you don't have much of an arguement trying to defend him.
i’m 14 right now and to this day, this was the best day of my life. i live in the bay area and going to school the next day being the only eagles fan was awesome getting to brag to everyone that my team just a won a damn super bowl
mfers hated me when I went to school with my merch on as a Patriots fan lmao. Specially after we won a SB. This game was hell of a game fs, but damn were there some bandwagon eagles fans at our school after that game.
I don’t even know why the refs had to discuss it. Ertz caught the ball, turned and took two steps while having full control of the ball and dives across the goal line. Once the ball broke the plane.. it’s 6.. period!
@@secretz2war964 ...Great and true fact. Thanks. That b.s. about touchdowns is getting too damn foolish. I guess some want the guy, especially in that activity, to somehow maybe even walk into the end zone like you are taking a walk, have both hands around the ball...full control, blah, blah.
@@aesir1ases64 It gets old very fast when even the better sports announcers and this Collingsworth (that I dislike with he thinking apparently that he is the lead man at the microphone, it was a great game but it is hard to listen to that damn rant he has) but they sound besides Brady being their idol, he is the greatest ever, etc. Bradshaw always gave his teammates credit when any praised him and Brady may but I see, in him, a giant ego, visibly angry when losing and I heard him in interviews say how the team that beat him "got lucky." He never said they outplayed him, gave any credit and he gleams when these idiots treat him like their little god. He cannot take criticism...44(?) year old kid. No praise needed for this guy, he will take care of that.
I am a Cowboys fan, but damn this Eagles team was something special. To watch Nick Foles go out there and beat Tom..... I doubt I'll ever see anything like it again.

Enjoy it. It won’t ever happen again for a very long time.
@@ricardo9013 I was 5 when we lost to the patriots in 04 and sadly it’s my earliest memory of the eagles
From an outside perspective this is one of the greatest underdog stories in the history of sports, if you live in Phildelphia or Pennsylvania you know this is the underdog kicking the champion in the ass and handing it to em.
And South Jersey
Almost as good as when the Giants beat em!
Didn’t really kick the patriots ass though lol
Eagles were by no means the underdog going into this game, they outmatched the Patriots at every single position except QB and TE. Tom Brady single-handedly dragged a bottom 5 defense to a drive away from a SB win.
The eagles went 13-3 this season tho

I've never celebrated with my father so hard before, we were ecstatic.

Same thing happened with my dad in Super Bowl 49! When the pats scored late he got so excited because he won a couple hundred bucks. But then when he realized if that was the final score he’d win a few thousand, it became very tense. He looked on the verge of tears when the Seahawks drove to the two. But when Russ threw that interception and we realized he won, he started jumping up and down on the bed and giggling like a little girl😂 one of the most excited moments I’ve ever seen with my dad.
