Ive started judo last year june, and i was watching a lot of your videos. Mainly, now your videos help me with fighting, especially when i suprise my opponent with some kind of throw i didnt use. Thank you!
As I'm finally back in judo consistently after a couple of years off due to injury (plus that pesky pandemic thing), it's been tremendous to come back to your videos and really dive into applying them again. Excellent stuff. Thank you for all you do! Still hoping I can come out and train with you folks someday 😊
@Benjiko no, and that's a really weird conclusion to jump to (or at least a weird way to phrase your suspicion). I blew my ACL before the pandemic started. I couldn't really train properly on one good(ish) leg. The pandemic began the next year and shut everything down, including martial arts schools. It's kind of hard to train in something like judo without partners. I still did bits here and there in ways I felt were safe and where other partners/my teacher felt comfortable doing so, but it was intermittent. Then I was out for a while after I had my ACL surgery (still during the middle of the pandemic, in September 2020), and I only returned briefly to training in summer 2021 as my school began to meet properly for training again. By that time, though, I was on the verge of moving across the country for school. I moved that summer, and then I couldn't find a place to train again for nearly two years. Between the initial injury, pandemic, shutdowns, slow rehabilitation from surgery, travel, and other health issues I won't get into here, I had a lot of obstacles. But hey, if "afraid of covid" rolls off the tongue better, knock yourself out.
Have you done / could you do a randori etiquette video for noobs. As a white belt I feel a bit odd doing randori when I don't understand the mechanics of throws etc Do you just go for it or do you ask your partner to take turns practicing?
Bjj player here, with the drop seo defense how come after the initial weight drop/shift back to stop the throw you dont then hooks in and go for a gi choke from behind- one of your arms already in from the throw easy quick grab with second to do the go choke…?
when you readjust the lapel hand to choke, you can get straight arm locked by the guy on bottom standing up (I'm 90% sure I saw that in an old Judo clip)
@@cahallo5964 … yeh i know what ur saying/mean i getcha’… but not really the situation i was describing cuz ur already defending with ur weight shift/back so ur arm is also bent holding him not limp straight arm back- also “hooks in”- then right free arm going straight for cross collar choke no way the guys getting straight arm bar from that… anyways i phrased it as a hypothetical but actually ive done it many times in sparring to people who tried to drop seo and expose their back that way… was wondering why judoka dont do that as well for defense…🤷♂️
… sorry my “left” free arm coming over ur shoulder for the cross collar choke grip, if u have my right arm that is, which would also be pinning ur right arm down then shift to go for the collar after my left hand grabs collar- one or both my hooks are also in because u cant defend those with both ur hands committed and possibly trapped with my right arm… kinda see what i mean🤔
The sound effects were my favorite part hahaha I'm all about the goofball energy

You stopped training because you were afraid of covid?
