Welt, ade, ich bin dein müde, World, adieu, I tire of you, Salems Hütten stehn mir an, Salem's huts await me, wo ich Gott in Ruh und Friede ewig selig schauen kann. where I, in quiet and peace, eternally blessed, can behold God. Welt, ade, ich bin dein müde, World, adieu, I tire of you, ich will nach dem Himmel zu,, I want to go to Heaven, da wird sein der rechte Friede where there will be true peace und die ewig Seelenruh. and eternal rest for the soul.
@konradeug That's what I'd like too! A wonderful aria for introducing people to the beauties of the Bach cantatas. I'd love to be able to link to such a video.
Yes it's great to see Maazel see playing like this. It is unique! And it is a very good recording, specially as measured by todays failures like Koopman.
Maazel's violin playing is much too Romantic-era in its orientation, but at least he produces a full, attractive sound far better than the ugly chicken-scratch string sonority so common in more recent attempts at Baroque performance. The other instrumentalists are magnificent, as are the chorus and Fischer-Dieskau. And it is a treat to hear this piece in its rightful original key of G major, not a half-step lower in F# major.
How beautiful! Fi-Di is indeed the most important singer of the 20th century - unique, incomparable and unsurpassed!
What a beautiful voice

Hasta siempre querido maestro, R.I.P.
thank you for this! wonderful!!!
That's Lorin Maazel on violin who just retired as chief conductor/music director of the NY Philharmonic!
Is that true? Does the violinist in the first scene is really Lorin Maazel?
@@hsjun98 Yes. He was a "child prodigy". There is other videos of Maazel playing violin, including some one in a Vienna New Year Concert.
