      travz21 no it shouldn't it should say a lot about his coach missing tourney 5 straight Years with 5 1st rounders in that span so don't say that bs

    • @travz21
      @travz21 7 років тому +8

      You're right. But they're not just missing the tourney. They're like the 3rd worst team in all the power conferences. Like 60+ teams. Their RPI is 212 out of 351. They're so bad it's not even a question that Fultz has to play a part in it. You could put the #1 prospect on the worst team and they should be able to get to .500 against college competition.

      travz21 fultz plays the part where he brought them to 9 wins they legit don't have a single player last year won 18 Gamez with 2 first rounders must not be fultz

    Watching this video again and it's amazing how accurate it was. Lonzo started off struggling a lot with his shooting but is slowly improving. The part about him becoming an elite defender is also very true. He's getting at least a block/steal each game. He still has to improve staying in front of smaller/faster guards and also get stronger but out of all the rookies he's the best one defensively. In a few years I can definitely see him becoming one of the best two-way guards in the NBA.

    Magic's shot was not solid either when he came into the league. He was a big point guard with A+ passing vision. If the Lakers get Ball, he'll be trained by guess who??? Showtime 2.0 y'all!!!

    • @MrGleenCross
      @MrGleenCross 7 років тому +14

      Stop it man, lol Don't compare this kid with Magic, please. The game was drastically different back then, the 3pt line and the perimeter play in general were not prominient. Magic was basically Rondo on roids, people don't even bothered to defend his jumper. He developed a average jumper very late in his career, but the sport maintained the post mentality all that time, so Magic's game never took a serious hit. Nowadays, a weak guard who telegraphs every move just like this Ball kid does, he will be murdered in the NBA. Every PG is super athletic, even an alltime talent like Chris Paul suffers with the physicallity of the playoffs, imagine these scrubs comming off college?

    • @t4d0W
      @t4d0W 7 років тому

      You gotta realize Magic had a troop to run Showtime. Magic getting 10+ dimes a game doesn't happen when you don't have Byron Scott who is decent at 6'4" and can shoot and James Worthy who can slash. Along with other tall talented big men who can help finish close to the hoop.

    Hey Coach - another question. Surprisingly I asked one down this line in a video a few months ago too - but have you ever talked to NBA assistant coaches/scouts and seen if they go into footage to this detail? Or if there's someone like you researching other top players out there and producing it? The amount of work you put into your videos here is insane! I can't imagine employing a room full of 10 or 15 guys to go research to this depth players' abilities but somehow, I can't imagine some teams aren't doing it to at least a detailed level.

    the big question is how will he develop a pull-up going to his right if his dominant shooting eye is his left eye (most right-handed players have a dominant right eye).
    IMO when he tries to learn a right-handed pull-up, he better learn to turn his head to the extreme right so his left eye better aligns with the basket if his dominant shooting eye really is his left eye.

  • @Halkaniin
    @Halkaniin 7 років тому +1

    Great breakdown Coach Nick never really thought about how he has no concept on the pick and roll or the free throw shooting because of all the other great things that he brings to the table. On his free throw mechanics he needs to bring the ball chest level in front of his number so when he releases the ball he is halfway there. This causes him not to double dip. This kid is special and will make any Nba team better his game is taylor made for the Rockets or Warriors but in about three years watch out he could be the leagues top point guard!

    • @bballbreakdown
      @bballbreakdown  7 років тому

      +Timothy Madden thanks! Bringing the ball to chest level then stopping before going up into the free throw is not recommended. Not sure if this is what you are saying. Did you see my Free Throw video I did with Scooter Barry? Ball should start at waist, then move up and out in one fluid motion

    • @timothymadden8208
      @timothymadden8208 7 років тому

      BBALLBREAKDOWN Not at all Coach Nick I was basically trying to say that if he has the ball out in front of his body and is square to the basket with all ten toes pointing to the basket then this would allow him to go directly in to his shooting motion. On film it looks like his is double dipping meaning that he brings the ball to his waist first and it's basically not one smooth motion.

    The man took 5 floaters all year and RARELY shoots the middy... you cant really say thats a part of his game. That and the P/R are his only glaring weaknesses imo. The defense will come with time. That being said, hes one of the best natural passers I have ever seen and can shoot contested 30 foot bombs like noones buisness, which is exactly the kind of PG you want nowadays. Plus he's 6'6 with underrated speed given his size and hes only 19 yrs young...dude has crazy potential.

    If he's that bad at pulling up on his right side, wouldn't any NBA defense force him right and thus deny most of his offensive output (not considering assists)? I'm asking this as I can't imagine changing his shooting motion to correct for that would be easy. What do you think?

    The Ball brothers, really have one of the highest ratio when it comes to ugliness/effectiveness on their jumpers. Crazy how effective it is. (Look out Reggie, they're coming for you !)

    If he focus's on the fundamentals of being a pg this summer and really gets in the habit of those pick and rolls, pick and pops, Doesn't tryy to play outside of his position too much, and keeps the game simple with his good decision making. He will develop at a rapid rate.

    Great analysis coach. As a right handed, but left eye dominant person I totally agree with what youre saying. His mechanics are a little strange, but it works and thats all that matters. This make his pullup going right nonexistent tho, which to me is a HUGE weakness. You praised his defense, but to me his athletic speed is making up for lack of fundamentals. If someone is that fast to catch up, they shouldnt be getting blown by so easily. The upsides are there, but his weaknesses are too egregious for me.
