Hi, my name is Jen I am 44 and live in Connecticut with my husband and 8 year old son. I am a stay-at-home Mom and full-time UA-camr with a degree in business with a focus in marketing. Before leaving work when my son was born, I was a commercial lender at a bank. I also worked at Sephora and Macy's doing visual merchandising.
I have dry skin with some hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I love natural makeup looks but occasionally go outside my comfort zone a little bit. How about a video on products that were once amazing and then got reformulated into something awful? I hate when cosmetic companies mess with a good thing!
Lorac, and Laura Gellar feel like more geared towards more mature consumers. We all know that our demographic is pretty much ignored. It cosmetics is another one.
Not to be morbid but I don’t know if IT is being phased out or revamped- their SALe is repeated via email at least 8-10 a day. Flower is not in any of the CVS I’ve been to recently.

Yes for Laura Gellar, no for Lorac. Lorac just isn't sending PR. Amanda Z has a young audience and recommends Lorac all of the time. She likes specific effects so looks for what does them well regardless of how popular the brands are. She's probably the main person who put UD Moondust shadows back on the map on social media.

Great video! I love your videos because I’m 73 and I’ve spent thousands on high end cosmetics in my life. I love makeup, but lately I’ve begun to think that a lot of these brands are taking advantage of women. Some of the prices are just outrageous. $45-$55 dollars for a tube of lipstick is ridiculous. They say it’s the packaging sometimes that raises the price, but that’s not always true. This year I’m for finding cheaper choices.

Too funny--I was able to lay my hands on my Lorac "Unzipped" palette without even leaving my chair. LOL I still own it, still use it. Not only is it a fantastic palette, but has sentimental value to me as it was a gift from my late Mom. So yes, double-winner for me. Also, Laura Geller's blushes are among the best I've ever used; I think I'll break out some of those, too! Jen, thanks so much for an "outside the box," video, much appreciated and so helpful!
I watched an Emily Noel YT video recently and she received a PR package from Revlon with a dozen or so new super lustrous lipsticks. I can't wait to find them in store.

I absolutely love Laura Geller's bronzer, blushes, her baked highlighter and she has some baked eyeshadow palettes that are gorgeous!!! 💯
I so wanted her products to work for me but, I could never get the foundation in the color I needed. I also did not like the shadows as they did not give me enough payout. I did love,love (real lipsticks) she offered about 5 years ago. They were beautiful and reasonable priced but. now she offers gel and balms....not a fan of those.
I bought the balance and brighten foundation about 2 months ago. I LOVE IT!! I've used it daily and barely made a dent lol

@@maryellengrayberg9146 Yes! The Laura Geller formulas of a few years ago were so much better. The same foundation I've used in the past and liked is pointless now; I can't even tell where I have it on. Laura Geller used to make one of my favorite lipsticks but the formula of the one I recently got is terrible.
Love the older brands like Lorac, Laura geller, Bobbi brown, even Mac doesn’t get much attention. Younger generation is coming up and that stuff appears not hip. Thanks for giving Laura geller some attention. I love her brand and have used it for years. ❤
MAC is very popular globally, especially in Asia.
@@yourfuturewaifu9061 it’s still used here but Mac was great about more collaborations and it was always exciting with new colors and limited editions. They are just staying pretty safe now.
So Laura Gellar I wish was still carried in stores. I work at Sephora and the amount of older ladies that come in asking after it is, a lot. They are so frustrated and disappointed cause they want help picking out shades and products. The majority of these clients are seeking the department store shopping experience and being served these Laura Gellar ads. Hopefully she finds her way back to stores soon!! I also would like to retry some products I loved her blushes 10 years ago!
Lorax unzipped palettes were my go to in my bridal kit 2015ish! I think I used it every wedding!!
I would love to see a video using drug store or inexpensive make up tools. Bk beauty, Sigma and Rephr brushes are expensive and application/tool is just as important as the product.
Smashbox is another brand that you don't hear too much about anymore. I used to like them, and their eyeshadow. 🌞
I liked their cream eyeliners. That was a long time ago…
I loved their single eyeshadows back in the day. Starlit was ny fave shade ever. I stockpiled a bunch when it was dc’ed and am on my last one 😢
I'm kind of tired of the glitter. I like the smoother metallics myself.
I have loved Laura Geller products for years since I found her on QVC in the late 90's. She is also a lovely woman and fun to watch doing makeovers.
LORAC eyeshadows are very nice! they were one of my first "higher end" makeup purchases. I would love to see them make a comeback, so underrated.
I have several Lorac palettes that are very old, but feel just as buttery smooth as when they were new. The formula is incredible.

I love the non glittery shimmer formulas of early YT days. I still love my original naked palette. The shimmers apply so easily with a brush and without any fallout!
I love Urban Decay but they discontinued so many things I liked. Now when I find something I love I buy multiples. Whatever the brand. It seems like whatever I find that I love, boom, discontinued.
It's not that they are"boring" products, they're predictable, well made, good products!💋❤
Yes, but, they're not the latest new, "sexy' thing. I like reasonably priced, reliable products, but I guess that's not what the majority of makeup buyers are looking for. Or at least, that's not what the marketers think.
Revlon lipsticks are terrific. They just launched 12 new shades of Super Lustrous formula and I've already purchased 4 of them! 😊
for canadians - Lorac is sold on the Shoppers Drug Mart site. they dont restock alot but this palette is currently available. i wish we could get Laura Gellar here in canada easily.
Hi Kim, I'm in BC and I recently ordered some items from Laura Gellar's website; it's easier to order now. Their customer service is great; their shipping is relatively fast, and I believe they ship from a warehouse in Ontario. (I could be wrong about that part). 🙂

I popped down to Bellingham last month and looked in Ulta at Bellis Fair. It was pretty messy but their store brand has some nice baked powder products too.

Laura Geller’s baked foundations have been my favorite foundations since my twenties. Yes, she markets to 40+, but her products are lovely on all ages. 😊

I agree about the mature skin situation but i think its a compliment cause us older (Im about to be 69) KNOW whats good and don't just buy all the crazy expensive and- imoa- paying for the name and expensive packaging products😊
Kelly Gooch said in a video that Benefit has the best sales out of a lot of brands- probably because of the repurchased mascara and brow products.
On a recent shopping trip I noticed the Flower Beauty section at a large Kroger store was almost completely empty. I saw several Flower Beauty products at TJ Maxx that same day. I purchased a face palette and a baked bronzer, both of which I like pretty well.
That Lorac palette is right up my alley. Sounds like it might be discontinued, though. I think Stila is another brand that just has gone dark. I used to use their eyeliner and Huge mascara religiously. I’m sad about Flower, too. I wish they would be upfront about what going on. I think I need to look at Laura Geller’s products. Too bad they aren’t in store anymore. Ugh. Also, I totally agree about Revlon’s lipsticks. I stopped even looking at any other brand. Revlon’s can’t be beat and my dry lips appreciate them so much! Edited to add: I also totally agree about Benefit’s mascaras. I love the look they give, especially They’re Real, but I have naturally long and curled lashes, and it smudges on my brow bone, which is honestly worse than the lower (which it also smudges). It’s just unworkable, lol.
As you're applying your makeup, the products are so naturally enhancing. I know anyone should wear what the heck they want, but I guess we each have our own interpretation of what is beautifying to ourselves or others.
I am with you on the glitter, I'd much rather have a beautiful shimmer or metallic versus a chunky glitter🙂
Please do more videos on makeup at Ulta! And just regular, normal stuff that doesn’t cost a fortune- it’s fun finding hidden gems! Sephora is usually a sensory overload and while I go there for brands I can’t find elsewhere, I enjoy the laid back Ulta shopping experience. Plus the prices are better. I also like it when creators use older palettes to create looks so we can all keep finding ways to enjoy what we already have. Love LORAC and recently bought Soleil palette. Their eye shadows are truly pro quality and blend well. I’d say, depending on the actual palette, they blend as well as Natasha Denona. Additionally, your makeup today is one of your most flattering looks on you!

I ordered flower products for the first time during a recent Ulta online sale and Im really enjoying them. The powder bronzer, exact same powder blush in the color you mentioned, a cheek/lip stick. It’s a brand that can fit someone like me at 50 that loves makeup and someone like my 20 year old daughter that wears very little.
Great video! I prefer to think of these brands as ‘classic’ rather than ‘boring’.

I had to throw my Pixi Beauty shades of green palette in the garbage! It was so old, and I wanted to use it so bad, but I probably would have gotten an eye infection. I think it was circa 2004!
@@akajulz Yikes! I have a few things in my Ulta cart of theirs like the 2 Hello Kitty palettes, I’m not to familiar with their makeup but I love their skincare! I use them everyday.
I just bought one of the Lorac mini 6 pan palette and it's just such an AMAZING product! The formula is perfect and so is the price!
I own the Unzipped palette and love it over my almost 50 year old eyelids!!! I love the formula and agree with you about the shimmers!
One product I can’t live without is LA Girl lip liner in Keep it Spicy. I think it’s a dupe for the Mac lip liner. In fact, I like the LA Girl liner more. Love your videos.
Brands that many consider boring are usually ones that are most relied upon and tried and true, in my opinion anyway. Thank you for this video, I want to try Laura Geller sometime in the near future so appreciated seeing some of her products.

I have been using Laura Geller baked foundation for almost 20 years. My daughter has a lot of redness so she started using it and her stepmother developed a sensitivity to all of her other makeup during menopause so we recommended it to her. She has been using it for 15 years lol Her products are great❤
I would LOVE to see you do a video on the Ulta brand and then maybe one down the road on the Sephora brand. I tend to order from Ulta much more but if there's something I'm missing from Sephora's brand then I would like to know.

My favorite Lorac palette was the Pro 3. It was a perfect color story for me, and I loved those shimmers. You kind of nailed why I shy away from most palettes now - way too much glitter! Love this video idea!
I think Revlon is starting a slow, steady comeback. Lots of mentions about them lately from a lot of directions.
I remember hearing a lot about Lorac when I first started watching UA-cam. Now i never hear about them. I honestly thought they went out of business.
Love your simple and "basic" look, though I tend to look at it and see it as more of a classic look. I love to use my purples, blues and greens on my eyes, but I do also need to tone it down from time to time and you reminded me that "simple" does not mean it has to look plain.
I use the Lorac Mega 4 Pro all the time- its cool and has some amazing tones nobody makes. Also Lorac Santa Monica palette (mini) is wonderful. I cant stand the heavy chunky metallics in colourpop and many other brands which get all over my cheeks and irritate my eyes. The formula in Lorac seems high quality and the shades are truly one of a kind.

Omg thanks for mentioning the LA girl concealer. It is such a fabulous formula. I have tubes and tubes in backup. It's amazing the way it stays put and looks so natural even without a full face of makeup.

Digging around my stash, I found my bottle of Makeup Forever HD foundation and remembered why this was so popular. I agree that they are seen as just straightforward and a little boring, but the products they do make are awesome. I love so many of the products you mentioned today. One of my favorite eyeshadow palettes is the lorac noir. The funny thing is, I got it from the Canadian version of ulta which is my drugstore. That's a bad thing cause everytime I go get my prescription I spend money and not just on drugstore makeup cause we have the high end 😂 I know that a lot of content creators, including you, spend a lot of money on makeup other than the pr received, but, I find that they only buy the mainstream products that they "think" people want to see, natasha denona, Charlotte tilbury, pat McGrath... granted, there was more emphasis on indie brands in 2023. I guess those are the brands that make them money using affiliate links. (I've only just started that so no idea - yet 😅) I just wish ulta would start shipping to Canada again 😢 I've been wanting to try the Laura Geller products especially the powder foundation. I'm 56, with oily skin. Yup, wrinkles and oily 😂 even hubby says I'm something else 😂😂😂 in Canada, when it comes to drugstore brands, more often than not, it's almost easier to add 5 bucks and go to sephora especially for foundation. Maybelline true match full price I believe is 27.99 CAD like really? (Btw, I bought it cause you love it and I've been trying, man I've been trying to love it, over and over again 😂 so far the bobbi brown face base is good and the elf halo glow ) different skin eh? 😅 😘😘💖💖💖💖💖

Oh my gosh my sister bought me that Lorac palette! It’s pretty and easy to use but I preferred my naked palette to it since it had more pans. I dropped it and half the shades broke so I threw it out and totally forgot about the brand. I’m actually surprised their still in business. Not having any kind of social media marketing I’m sure effects their sales. It’s a shame because the low effort basic eyeshadows are in and if they released that palette now with some good marketing I’m sure it would bring the brand back.
I completely agree with about urban decay and benefit being super boring now. My emo high school days those were the brands I went to when I had the money for non drug store makeup. They had such fun makeup with cool packaging and bright colors. I’m still holding out that they’ll go back to that.

Thanks Jen...this was a fun video! The Laura Geller bronzer is a favorite of mine too. I wore it so much this summer... I would use some in my crease as eye shadow too. She runs so many sales, 40% off very regularly. I also like the bronzer blush, it's a bronze shade swirled into the blush. A lot of blushes can look too bright on me but having it mixed with bronze makes it easy to wear
Hi Jen. I love Lorac. I have 4 of their older palettes and they perform wonderfully! I had the Unzipped that was warmer but I didn’t like the colors so I decluttered it. Love all your videos. Would watch anything you put out. I know you have a large collection. How about a declutter video? Happy New Year to you and your loved ones. I live in NJ and we may be getting snow this weekend.
