Obasanjo fought in the Biafra-Nigeria civil war, but he somehow still commands respect from the easterners and we voted for him even against our own cus we saw he tried to make amends for the injustice after the civil war and he never stoked ethnic tensions against the Igbo or any other group.
He wasn’t a perfect man but it’s the fact that later he was humble enough to try to right the wrongs of the military regime of which he was a part. It is also exemplary in how he managed the country, reduced our National debt, pursued federal character, a robust foreign policy that put us at the forefront of African affairs etc.
This is not to say the ruling party wasn’t corrupt, didn’t violate human rights etc but he made amends and we can see he did try to be a quintessential statesman in the grand scheme of things even in the recent open letter to Nigerians after the ethic hatred stoked by the APC in the elections.
The same APC has reduced Nigeria to a failed state where violence, disorder and regression are the order of the day.
For this reason, Obasanjo will forever remain respected in the East and beyond.

They invest massively everywhere and when it comes to vote, they say they don't have the right to vote where they pay tax. That's why even diplomats accredited to Nigeria are outraged. What kind of "giant of Africa " is that?

To rub salt to the injury, while the world is praying for the judiciary to salvage the situation for Nigerians by restoring Obi’s stolen presidential mandate, Soludo have issued a lengthy speech congratulating Alhaji Tinubu without regard to the sensibilities and expectations of millions of Nigerians who still cling unto hope that justice will eventually prevail. I enjoyed listening to and hearing, former President Olusegun Obasanjo's address at Awka, Anambra State of Nigeria, about the man he appointed as the Central Bank Governor, who later decided to run for Anambra state governorship position, as well as his interest in human capital development, and the development of the three dimensions of business areas, namely, the government, the private, and the non-governmental, or, the quasi-government business. I believe, that will encourage more people who really want to engage in such ventures, to bring more hope for private businesses in Nigeria, more than what we have going on in that country today.

Obasanjo has contributed substantially to bringing about the tragedy that Nigeria has become today. Even though he has regretted some of his actions and publicly apologized, the fact remains that some of his regrettable actions happened in old age when he is supposed to have displayed wisdom and insight. Why, for instance, did Obasanjo not see the danger of a Buhari presidency that he was supporting in 2015, after having interacted with Buhari for decades? The latest stage in the horrific nightmare that Buhari has inflicted on Nigeria is the just-concluded cycle of ''elections'' concerning which the less said; the better.

This is a divisive speech by Obasanjo. He feeds the narrative that alludes that he’s an Igbo man and never had the interest of Yorubas. As an elder statesman, he should be making speeches that unites all not one that denigrates one and compliments another. Not speeches that incites division or resentment.

Avocado can grow in Anambra State too. We ate an avocado fruit bought from Jos and left the eeed on the ground. Few years later, it grew into a tree and started sprouting fruits. This could be exported to the US. The quality of that specie is far more attractive than the types we eat in the US which are imported from South America.
