So many thanx for your coverage of the ginza- I from my time when I lived in tokyo remember the beerhall- thanks for that! You just missed one major thing about ginza: you have to stay untill it gets dark and all the neonsigns come to life!!! 😮 that is insainly cool- a must do for another time
Just a minor correction. Mitsukoshi is a very upscale department store (it's not a "mall" in Japan, though it may be somewhat "adulterated" in other countries to fit the market) that is a part of the Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Group (Isetan is another department store brand within that consortium). The only real counterpart elsewhere in the world is Harrod's in London. Mitsukoshi continuous history was founded in the latter part of the 1600's by a kimono merchant in Tokyo. Whenever I visit Japan, it is my primary favorite store, followed by Takashimaya. As for shorts, it is a bit too casual for some Japanese. But I was also told, especially in Kyoto, besides being somewhat inappropriate for religious Shrines and Temples, wearing shorts just increases the surface area for mosquito bites (I found this out the hard way this summer).
I have binged your entire Japan series (and soon will binge your new one!). These have been some great videos! Only thing I wish was in the videos was more of the interaction between people (staff, etc) though I know that is probably taken out more for respect of their privacy and conversation with a language barrier is always a little awkward. I just kind of wanted to see how a restaurant setting differs from the US, if at all. I'm graduating college soon and have been thinking about traveling to Japan right after I graduate as a little celebration before I settle into a career. Since I graduate in August I would also have some time to learn as much Japanese as I can before November/December which is when I would go. Only issue is I may have to do it solo and that is WAY out of my comfort zone 😬. Thanks for the great vlogs!
I'm japanese and I often make the same mistake on the train. If you could talk to one of the train guys and explain your situation, you did not have to pay for that mistake, but like you said it's a small mistake that you might just want to move on without the hassle of explaining.
Mitsukoshi is actually not a mall, it’s a department store. The equivalent of Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s or Harrods. It’s just the Japanese ones are insanely huge.
Fun Fact: You can use your iPhone as a Suica Card (even with non-Japanese iPhones) and recharge the Suica Card with Apple Pay (only with a MasterCard for some reason though). Makes it way easier and more convenient to travel around Japan.
When it was announced that Uniqlo was going to open a store in Ginza, there were many dissenting opinions that a chain store like Uniqlo for the common people was not suitable for Ginza, which caused a lot of problems. Uniqlo promised to create a store with a sense of luxury worthy of Ginza, and in the end they were able to open a store without incident.
19:56 "I actually don't know if [Uniqlo] is a Japanese brand." 🤭🤭🤭🤭 That's like not knowing if Louis Vuitton is a French brand while window shopping in Paris.
I love Ginza! That is one area I go juandering when in Tokyo. Found a really good place to cut my hair, it’s called Hiro Ginza Barbershop. It’s exactly in that area where you were touring. There’s also a really huge Muji Store with a Muji Hotel on the top floor!
Ginza is definitely a sushi restaurant.🍣There are many high-end sushi restaurants where you can enjoy different levels of deliciousness. The price will be at least $200 or more, but you'll be charged many times that for the same level of sushi in NYC.😂
Wearing shorts used to be inappropriate going to Ginza or ultra luxury malls. However, in the recent years Asian fashion has gone through phases of minimalism. As long as you are well groomed, you could even wear chick pajamas to Mitsukoshi with a pair of Adidas Stan Smith. .. And by the way, getting on the wrong side of Metro/JR and such, you can ask any station attendant at the glass booth to weive your fee. I tried that few times, they're used to people getting on the wrong side or train daily.
Google maps does a decent job but it does not show many shops, restaurants, etc only the major ones. Tokyo and other Japanese cities are very vertical. Many businesses are underground, in basements and in multi-floor buildings. Because many overseas tourists cannot read japanese they mostly ignore retailers located in basements or on higher floors. Many interesting places are behind bland looking building facades. Every time I visit Tokyo I find myself using other company train line the majority of the time. If you restrict yourself to JR you also restrict your self to central Tokyo. JR Rail pass I find is best used for Shinkansen when you plan to use it more than 2/3 times (depending on how far each trip is).
Have you been to the basement of department stores? We call the place Depachika. it's so great‼️ If you want to take out some food or a snack, you surely can find the basement to be very convenient. You can even buy sushi with a reasonable price. Enjoy your trip in Japan😊

I really like your content and what you are filming is very informative. However, I have a difficult time watching your films because I get motion sick. Often times I just have to listen and then make occasional peeks at the screen to see what you are talking about.
Ginza is a lovely place, but for me, it lacks character. It has some iconic sights, but it looks a lot like every other major city to me. It's impressive at night, though. I gotta go to that Sapporo beer hall next time. Now that had some atmosphere!
I wasn’t able to find the exchange rate app. It seems more friendly than XE . What camera or equipment you use? Enjoy your exploring in Japan. I will be there in 3 months , can’t wait
I believe the reasoning for lack of short wearers in japan is that shorts are something of a child thing due to school shorts. That's just what i've heard. Cool videos btw
Regarding pants, many Japanese women dislike male shin hair, and some women call it sexual harassment, so be careful if you have stiff hair. Some Japanese men keep their hair smooth and groomed.
Thank you for watching your video. By the way, as someone who lives in Tokyo, I can tell you that Ginza is a neighborhood lined with shops where wealthy people go shopping and eating and drinking, while poor people in Japan just walk around looking like they have money. This is an area where you can. It is truly a perfect tourist attraction for foreigners visiting Japan.
interesting., sorry I was not able to watch all video, I got very dizzy watching it in my monitor, I use a big one, but the camera just moving so much. uff.. too much for me. .I wish you could plan better your takes,
So many ugly Chinese tourists 🤮A group of Chinese women were blocking the escalator in the Mitsukoshi department store & the Japanese employee was telling them to move, in english. Chinese may have money. but they are so crude & have no manners.💩

favorite city in Japan?@@zanetravel
I’ve lived in NYC most of my life. Never been to Tokyo but now want to visit!!!
Will visit Tokyo soon😊
Damn straight you do, and I hope you get too!!!
2nd! but good stuff dude I like your style of filming keep it up excited to go at the end of October
Really enjoyed this vlog!
Hey Zane I’m a big fan! Keep up the good work😊

There are plenty of department stores that are similar to Mitsukoshi. Korea's Hyundai Department Store is a perfect example. They are equivalents.

Yeah Tokyo is amazingly beautiful at night
Tokyo looks amazing 😍❤️❤️

I live in the UK and I definitely feel that Uniqlo's quality is better than H&M's, I'd argue more than just a little bit better.

wow very nice experience friend
Ginza in my opinion is the best place to stay. Visit the hot spots and come back to a peaceful clean area for the evening 🤝
Absolutely agree
Love your videos ❤❤ keep it up 😊

When you come to Tokyo , must visit ginza shinjuku. shibuya and nihonbashi !
The Ginza UNIQLO is the flagship and biggest one in the world.

I love these long form videos. You are the best!!!
I want to visit Tokyo thanks to you.. Greetings from Korea.
Uniqlo is definitely a Japanese brand. Part of the logo is in Japanese characters.
The currency converter app I use: elkapp.co/
I'm not sponsored but many people ask
Thx !!
Thanks😊
DAMN im on android LMAO. They dont have it. Thanks anyways.

Ginza 6 has an amazing rooftop deck with great views. The Muji in Ginza is also worth a browse. It has a Muji hotel above it.
Well.. Uniqlo’s quality is way better than H&M.. that’s sure with that price..
11:57 I’ve been drinking that tea since I got here lmao
You should hold onto that Icoca card for when you come back to Japan since they’re valid for 10 years 😊

You didn't have to exit the gate to go back the way you came!😂
Just change platforms.
Ginza Line has been around since 1927
Right?! Haha! Just gotta go up/down across done!
You should see how the department stores wrap gifts... 🤯
"its uh juju kaisen yeah juju kaisen" 🤣😂
Yes, Uniqlo is a Japanese company ❤
I wouldn't say mitsukoshi is a mall, but more of a department store like Macy's or Nordstrom.
I really like your content and what you are filming is very informative. However, I have a difficult time watching your films because I get motion sick. Often times I just have to listen and then make occasional peeks at the screen to see what you are talking about.
You didn't have to go out and again in just to change the direction as far as staying in the metro lines. There must be a path inside.
3rd. Tokyo has over a dozen different train operators. Pretty seamless still as long as you use an IC card
You also shouldn't need to pay to change platforms... also if you have an iPhone, you can get a mobile Suica and reload with Apple wallet.
@@NoLifeStarCrafthe doesn’t need mobile Suica since he has an ICOCA.
@@ReiwaMagiHe was complaining about having to recharge it. I noticed he has an iPhone, so it's a more convenient option that's open to him
iPhone apps work well in Tokyo
Yes UNIQLO is a Japanese fashion brand. Wish you all the best.
Excellent~😻

Cool videos btw
I had a first class ticket from Hkg to cdg booked for this week but after all of the horrible reviews I’m glad I canceled it.
yep, uniqlos quality is far better than h&m. if u buy 5000yen above you can have a discount by availing of the tax discount for tourists
Why not at night? The charm of Tokyo is walking at night. Ginza is especially attractive at night.
Wow that orange stone island is massive with football in England it would of been around £2000. Here it's Italian. 👍✌️❤️😎🇬🇧

Going to Ginza at day time is a noob move.
