    Fun Fact - This movie was based off of Bert Kreischer's college days. In 1997, during Kreischer's sixth year at FSU, the university was ranked number one by The Princeton Review in their annual list of the top "party schools" in the United States. Later that same year Kreischer became the focus of a six-page article in Rolling Stone who named him "the top partyer at the Number One Party School in the country."

    I was 17 when this came out. I remember seeing it and and showing it to a couple of my friends. One of them got seriously grossed out at the scene where all them was eating the fresh "creamed filled" pastries. Ever since that day every now and then when we hang out I'll just randomly say *"oh, it's still warm"* and the look my friend gives is priceless.

    if you don't know, this movie was inspired by an article in Rolling Stone about a guy named Bert Kreischer. They had gone to his college to write about the party scene, but ended up partying with him and just focusing in on him. Most people know him from "The Machine," the story of how he infiltrated the Russian Mob on a college trip. Journalists have been able to confirm the story with the teacher, multiple students, and 2 of the gangsters, so when you hear it and think to yourself "no way," just know it is true.

    There's a fan theory that not only is that the actor who played Otter in Animal House, that actually *is* Otter, having grown up and become far too serious. It's highly improbable, but a fun idea.
    This was Kal Penn's (Taj) first big movie. Just as American Pie was John Cho's (the MILF guy, later Sulu in the new Star Trek movies) first movie. So, when they shortly thereafter made Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, they had the brilliant idea to advertise it as "starring that Asian guy from American Pie and that Indian guy from Van Wilder", because while nobody knew either of their names back then, everyone knew who they were.

    So, National Lampoon had a number of decent sized hits throughout the 90s. Loaded Weapon, Senior Trip and Vegas Vacation, which was probably the biggest hit of the decade. They kept making films until 2015 (including 2 sequels to this, without Reynolds) with 2-3 films a year during that time.
    Also, I forgot how much of this soundtrack I listened to, even though Sugarbomb's "Hello" isn't even on the CD soundtrack.

    • @bobcobb3654
      @bobcobb3654 Місяць тому

      National Lampoon didn’t make any of those movies (or this one). In the 90s, production companies could pay to use the National Lampoon name. That’s why so many really bad straight to video comedies in the late 90s also had the NL prefix.

    There is also a prequel to this with a freshman year Van Wilder. The problem with these films for Van Wilder was they came out like 10 plus years after this so the prequel was a straight to DVD release and Rise of Taj I don't remember doing well at the box office. That said both films have similar humor so if you likes Van Wilder check those out.

    The home team in the English Premier League, which is arguably the best football league in the world, must offer the away team 10% of the seats, which always are in one specific section of the stadiums, and not mixed in with the home supporters. If the away team doesn´t use them all, the rest will fall back to the home team, so the home team has at least 90% og the supporters on a match day often maybe 95%.

But this….this is a movie i hold VERY near and dear. It was one of the few DVD’s I had in my bedroom as a 15 year old kid. And I fell asleep to this movie for like an entire year. You know when its one of those that you feel like you know so well that you coulda been in it? This is it. Super excited for the nostalgia lol

    Awesome! I was just thinking the other day that I don't remember seeing anyone react to this Comedy Classic. You folks Rule! 🥃☮❤
    Apparently this movie (or elements of it) is based on the life of Comedian Bert Kreischer.
    I've been a fan of Ryan Reynolds since the opening moments of Two Guys, A Girl, & A Pizza Place. It's been excellent to watch him climb the ladder over the decades to become one of the biggest stars in the industry. Can't wait for Deadpool 3.
