Hey Rich, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. I'm looking to invest in some sample pianos and the demos of this just caught my ear as amazing, even though it's old. Maybe our ears hear a like? Do you mind if I ask what are your other top VST pianos?
@@tomszymusic My pleasure. There are a ton out there so it's good to know what's the real deal and what's a waste of money. The irritating thing is most of these companies don't allow you to demo before you buy and software is non returnable so you can imagine the pain of spending $150 and you end up disliking the product. Anyways look into Ravenscroft 275, most of the Ivory pianos by Synthogy are great. Pianoteq is pretty cool, Keyscape is awesome but pricey. I've been using the pianos that came with Native Instruments Komplete lately and they are decent. Welcome to the rabbit hole of sampled instruments, try not to spend too much!
After owning so many piano libraries over the years, I still always come back to this one. It sounds so good! I especially love that you sampled multiple release times, definitely allows for a more realistic sound
This piano sounds so nice! One of the best for staccato. The only weak point is the high register, not much sustain, but i think this must be the piano character. Everything else sound on point
I played this piano recently at a friend's house and was very annoyed because I had to leave. This weekend I'd saved up enough from selling albums that I was able to buy it, and well, I can't really say enough good things about it. It's gonna be my go-to for just about everything, I can feel it already. I love it to bits. Works for ballads, it works for classical, it utterly kills in Jazz and solos which is my preferred genre, I dig. Totally
One of the best sounding samples I've ever heard. Superb job! I've got a Kawai MP10 on order, so I'd be curious to see how this sounds compared to Kawai's very own sampling of the Kawai EX. Great job guys!
Hey thanks for the compliments! The release feature just detects a MIDI note-off signal. The multiple releases in our Kawai EX Grand are based on time, not release velocity. However, you HAVE given me an idea for future pianos...release velocity-controlled releases! But the releases in our pianos are triggered when the note-off MIDI signal comes through. They're not responding to MIDI release velocity which is a separate MIDI controller number.
Thanks to all of you! I'd be curious as to what 7notemode could do with this library. Maybe others will post their own videos of their music with the Kawai EX grand library! :)
Thanks man! I appreciate that compliment, and if by chance you do want more, check out True Keys from VI Labs coming out soon! Imagine the Kawai and Academic Grand taken to whole new levels of virtual piano realism and clarity.
Beautiful. I couldn't be anymore proud of this sampling of yours. ^^ Seriously, Lance, we need to go piano shopping. I have about 60 sq feet I need filled. :D
Hi, i have listened to your video a number of times and do love the sounds you produce here of the kawai ex grand. I would be obliged if you could tell me if it is possible to incorporate your sample int my kawai ca111? If so what would i require. I have to admit here that i am an electronic numpty, sorry !
@Killua40 Hey thanks! There are 5 dynamic layers that are velocity-switched, but they've been carefully voiced so as to avoid the common problem of obvious switches from one layer to the next. There are 3 release samples per velocity. Staccato, medium, and long release samples are timed so as to make the key release resonance much more accurate--you hear a different release sample depending on how long you hold the key down. The Kawai EX update has been released, so check out the website :)
I hear the demo MP3 on the website, it sound so harsh at the lower ranges, I believe you would need to use Telefunken mic instead, this has the ability to capture the perfect sounds from voices and instruments as I heard it very clearly.
@ZacharyForbesMusic Thanks for the compliment! And please let me know your thoughts in comparing the MP10. I'd really like to know what you think. Thanks!
@ThatsABiggon I'm not that familiar with the V-Machine, but as long as you can load the full version of the Kontakt 4 application, then yes the Kawai will work. You can try the free Kontakt player, but it runs in demo mode for 3rd party libraries (goes silent after 30 minutes I believe). Let me know what you find out!
Francis, visit the website in the video description above to purchase and download the AcademicGrand or Kawai EX. There you will find the products, demos, descriptions, etc.
Well the sampler we used for this Kawai EX is called Kontakt from Native Instruments. Do a search for them. I highly recommend MOTU Mach Five though if you want a sampler. If you want the Kawai sound, look for Acoustic Samples Kawai EX.
Will you listen to this link? I was very interested in purchasing this sampling until I heard some sustain issues, which would be a major problem for recording purposes. They take place in the beginning, middle and end of the demo. It seems as if there are a few notes that hold the "damper air" sound for way too long while the key is pressed down. If this has been fixed, I'll definitely be purchasing this product. Great job!
Lance great sound but......I bought the Kawai ex pro for MODX and the stereo field is way too wide for my stereo setup the highs (C4 to C8) are on the right side of the room and the low s C3 to A1 is far left. with not much in the middle .... it sounds great in headphones but stage not to me... How can I correct this..?
@marg32 Since this Kawai sample library requires Kontakt software, you'll need to hook your CA 111 to a computer running the software. If you get our library, I'd be curious to how its sound compares in your opinion to your CA 111. Let me know your findings!
so is it true that it was using Kontakt before and now it is using UVI Workstation? Somehow, is UVI, VI Labs, and AcousticSamples related? They use UVI Workstation, and the webpage design and payment methods are also 99% similar
Something I would like to find out. I want to know what the disadvantages if I use the EXS24 mapped file. Also it use up quite a lot ram in full mode. Is there different mapped file for each mic position?
I've gotten a few other piano vst's lately and this one is still the best. The lower register sounds way bigger and realistic than any other vst's I've tried. Has lance herring made any newer piano vst's since this one?
EX, known to be brighter and more brassy than the SK EX which has more richness and colors but without the sizzle. Regular EX is similar to older Yamahas while SK EX is more similar to Hamburg Steinway 'D', as a rough comparison.
no offense, but that stand is REALLY horrible!! Wobbles WAY too much then it should, which is rarely. you should get a better stand thats better structured.
It's 2019, this is still one of my top 3 pianos to play. I always come back to it, it's just that good.
