All gauges are designed with a delay, so the needle isn't slamming all the way up to all the way down, all of the time, just from the movement of the car. You'd never be able to actually read fuel if the needle always moved like that because the fuel is always moving somewhat. 80's circuits weren't as good at buffering the movement, not sure why. My guess is they really didn't put a serious effort into it perfecting it until later. I remember Chrysler fuel gauges moved around a lot, they also had lots of pump and sender issues. What's really trippy is some airplanes are designed to read their fuel upside down, pointed up, pointed down.

Yeah for the most part it's even legal to run race only engines for the most part the only problem is that you have to tune it for the local gas you have and it probably won't last very long with that gas.
the silvertop was never a race engine so swapping it in is perfectly legal. The closest thing to a race built 4a you can get is one made for formula Atlantic, but they are 16v engines and incredibly rare now, as FA has moved on to using a Mazda/Coaworth designed unit. And anyway, race engines are legal as long as they pass local requirements (noise limits, emissions, etc)
@@rakerholm nobody cares about your diesel. Your diesel doesn't do 8k rpms. Low end torque is nice to tow shit but it doesn't give any feeling of acceleration, even the fast ones don't feel fast. Anybody noticed the fuel gauge?
Yeah, thats really because the car is leaning back, and the fuel float in the fuel tank is falling down, so it appears to have less fuel.
Just seen it and I hope its the inertia at work and not consumption, It wouldn't make sense
@@mutwirirarama99 Props to the guy keeping up with the car and refueling as it goes
It’s those old shit floats. You can never trust these on the red, could end up empty

Why a turbo timer for a n/a engine?
Had a BZ touring Carib. Black top 4AGE. Fuel to oil ratio was about 50:1. One tank was 1 litre of oil.
