You all knew this was coming.. lol. Also, I had some great games recorded over the last couple of weeks but my HDD died today. Luckily I was still able to upload this game but I lost about 6 N64 longplays (Zelda OoT, Mario Kart 64, Quest 64 and some others). I'll be re-doing these games soon, but I'll have to crank out some short and bad games in the meantime to meet the upload quota. Anyways, stay tuned. The GameCube games will also be recorded soon again as I'm almost heading back home.
Yeah, GameCube games including Legends of 🤼♂️ I and II, Smashing Drive, UFC Throwdown, NBA Courtside 2002, WWE Day of Reckoning I and II and WWE WrestleMania XIX.
What about Majora's Mask?
I’ve never really completed it and it’s probably going to take a week for me to practice, record and edit and ultimately get copyrighted lol. It’s definitely a title I’d like to have on the channel though but won’t be for a while
LongplayArchive Copyrighted? How?
a lot of nintendo stuff is notorious for copyright. Wind Waker, Master Quest, Twilight Princess all got copyrighted which I knew would happen. Mario Sunshine and Mario 64 also got copyrighted. There are specific sound effects that are copyrighted by Nintendo.
I still remember playing this at age ten when it first came out and being so blown away. Playing Mario on my new N64 for the first time ever felt magical, no other way to put it...it didn't feel like simply a more advanced piece of technology. It felt like discovering real, literal magic.
I was sober my entire first semester of college thanks to this game.
That's the biggest compliment I've read about this game! Are you doing ok now?
He is now Noel fieldings fantasy man
ryanern18 I was a virgin my entire first semester of uni thanks to this game.
And people say video games rot your brain
How? This game is so fun when stoned
Still an absolute blast to play, even 25 years later. That's how you know you've made a great game. No wonder it's been ported goodness knows how many times.
As a person who watches SM64 speedrunning a lot, it's so weird to see someone playing it normally.
After watching it for a bit, I did think to myself - Am I being a dick for being frustrated by the meh quality of the gameplay? Yeah, think we've been watching too much speedrunning.
@@moobslikejagger5653 This is very true.
I was thinking shoot, he missed the Lakitu Skip at the beginning
Yes SMG4 UA-cam Channel.
I always wonder are speedrunners who invested 1000 hours in game still love it casually
I just 100% completed this game yesterday and man it was an experience! I had a lot of fun, even though I raged every time I played it. This has to be one of my favourite Mario games, even if I didn't grow up with this game.
To say this game was a huge part of my childhood is an understatement lol I literally was on this shit as a kid for hours at my grandmas house..played this on the N64 along with donkey kong 64, hot wheels racing, and who could forget goldeneye 007
this game and basically any other super mario game made me rage😂
One of the best video games ever made!
Absolutely... 21 years and barely aged! Any other game from that time now does not hold up nearly as well as this game does... Played it for the very first time this year, and I was so surprised at how fluid the experience is!
@@laylover7621 24 years*
One of the biggest games in legend. Still own this masterpiece.
There's nothing like watching a gameplay of your favorite game.
I don't know. Playing them is up there on the list🤔
This game was a magical experience in 1996 and is still a platforming masterpiece today.
Thank you so much for this. I remember having to pester my mom to drag me down to the local McDonald's to play this on the PlayPlace game station they had because I was raised up as a Sony kid. As I got older, I just started biking down there with a friend or two to play Smash, whatever Zelda game was out, Metroid, etc. My parents didn't have a lot of money, so even not having an N64 in my life - and as much time as I spent with my oldest friends Spyro and Crash - it really speaks volumes to just how memorable Nintendo's games were for all of us, and I've been really itching lately to relive those memories without having to dive into the complicated process of emulating (which I know nothing about) or finding a used N64 in a mom and pop store somewhere in Narnia.
So, again, thank you. Truly.
You've given an old kid a few comfy nights indoors with a tub of popcorn and the bittersweet taste of Nintendo nostalgia.
thanks so much for your nice comment:)
Me too. Only now I still get to play with my Grandkids! Grandma has tricks up her sleeves!
@Joseph Waters Sounds like a plan! Now my youngest grandkids are 18 & 19 so they're showing me all kinds of stuff. I wish you happiness and health, my friend. Your kids will love you for it. He 👍❤
Do you have a ds or 3ds? Mario 64 has a ds port.
I play mine on a Nintendo Wii U. but they're kinda outdated now. Good for playing old games though! :)
I've gone from liking this game, to thinking it's aged a bit worse than people claim, to absolutely loving it. Sometimes I boot it up just to run around the castle courtyard. How they got Mario's first 3D outing so good on the first try is a testament to the work Nintendo put into this game.
One of the most legendary 3D games ever. Still own the cartridge to this day and beaten it 100%. This game was one of the first games I ever played and it brings huge nostalgia, like another legend, Zelda Ocarina of Time.
I find it relaxing to watch playthroughs of old games
Hi LongplayArchive! First I like to say thanks for this amazing long play of Mario 64! By far one of the BEST games every created! I was beyond obsessed with this game back in the 90's and still love it 24 years later! A little piece of trivia involving wet dry world! At 3:18:42, when you launch Mario out of the cannon to go to the underwater town, take a look at the skybox! I didn't know this till recently but the background is an altered image of Casares, Spain! Again great long play! :)
Oh wow awesome! Thanks for your comment :)
This was the first 3d game I played , just experiencing this for the first time, transitioning from 2d games to this was one of the most amazing things I ever experienced
Today's kids will never understand what it's like to play a game like this where, as a kid, you sometimes had no idea what to do. You sometimes spent hours trying to figure out how to get that one star because there was no internet, so you asked your parents for help or you tried to figure it out with a classmate after school.
I'm also grateful that modern children no longer have to endure that
Well... we have other Mario games to collect things.
Nostalgia freaks lol
Hours!?! I would spend weeks on some stars as a young lad. Playing games before the internet was indeed special
PlayablePassion it made us far more social than today’s youth
Old time memory of super Mario 64 from Nintendo 64 I miss you so much
this is a game that I'll never get tired of.
Thanks for reminding me that my childhood was awesome!
Super Mario is so holy that he doesn't even realize how cool he is.
Thank you for playing this on real hardware. That makes it all the better
I play this game nearly everyday because it's one of my all time favorite Super Mario games. I love it for its beautiful soundtrack, gameplay, and colorful visuals (which obviously didn't age well). It is very nostaligic and iconic to video games. I love everything about this game.
Who here would say that this is one of (if not) the best of all Mario games ever?
I remember playing this on Christmas with my brothers I wouldn't trade my memories for anything I miss them days do much oh what I would do to go back
Cool
at that time i used to enjoy going to the sea for a walk everyday used to walk more then 4 hours a day and used to enjoy walking in malls and going to cenema or going to swimming pools or aqua park or amusment park, now lifes change when you are old with
responsibility, family or friends or classmates you used to hang out all drift apart coz everyone busy in life, how i wish to go back to 90s life was so much better
How'd you play with your brothers? It's a one-player game
@@elvinobiakalusi7505 even if its one player can you still play together by watching or switching who control the game
@@elvinobiakalusi7505 lol dumb ass
Nostalgia. I grew up playing Mario Kart DS on my cousin's DS, and on my like, 6th Birthday my uncle bought me Super Mario Bros DS, so then I spent years playing that game, and then in 2017, I had just found out that you could play as Luigi so then I played it for a *while.* I'm now in 9th grade and I've never given up on Mario no matter what people say.
There's literally no reason to give up on mario.
"mario is for kids"
well no man, everyone can enjoy a mario game.
I haven't played this game in years but I frequently come back to this video to play this as background noise to blend with amongst my other audio tabs .. Probably listened to this over 100 times, :) thanks
Omg the nostalgia…. I used to stretch his face forever… one of thee best games ever
The Definition of Nostalgia
This game is a true masterpiece.
The sound for the Boo's cackle was the sound effect used for Bowser's laugh sped up. When the sound is played at normal speed it's a group of people laughing.
With sales of 11 million units it was the best selling Nintendo 64 game and the best selling 5th generation console game.
When the game was still new and popular, rumors persisted that Luigi and Wario were in the game. These rumors have long been proven false, although those characters did appear in the later port, Super Mario 64 DS (2004). But in 2020, deep in the code someone found Luigi. He is not used or accessible in the game, but he exists in the code.
The music used in Wet-Dry World and Hazy Maze Cave (as well as some indoor portions of other courses) is a reworked version of the World 1, stage 2 version of the original Super Mario Bros.
Beautiful butterflies fly around Mario outside the castle if he walks or runs close to them.
Big Boo's Haunt is the only level to not share a music theme with another stage.
Huh.....neat.
One of my all time favourite games
Same, Mega man definitely in second though.
Thank you for making this video. I know it was no easy task. I can tell by the fluctuating lives that this game tested your skills (and probably your patience too). It’s great to see it played by a realistic normal perspective instead of a highly skilled unrealistic perfect play through. Well done!
I was blown away by this game when it came out.
i was like 3 years old and remember how excited my brother was to get his n64 back in the early 1990's I only shared the excitement because he was so i was like cool lol looking at him play looking at the graphics now its like why did it seem even cooler back then...especially when we upgraded from sega genesis... lol the old console wars.... were fought with actual characters not stats haha
This longplay is excellent. I loved this game so much. Enjoyed playing it although I never beat it lol
MARIO 64 IS MY FIRST MARIO GAME ,I was born in 2000 and I got an N64 and Mario 64 for my 3rd birthday ,I play with my sister this brings me a lot of good times
man thanks for your channel, this just remind me that i have to play again this game, wonderful work mate!!! you are awesome Sabelo!!!(spanish word for You Know it!)

Childhood memories ☺
You didn’t actually live for this did you

I used to play it as a kid in PC through an n64 emulator. That was in 2008-2009. It’s a truly childhood memory for me even if the game is much older than me...
Ahhh still my proudest gaming achievement.....obtaining every star. Miss these days.
welcome to your first 3D adventure, Mario!
My twenty-hood, after I "grew out" of video games, so I never played this..but NOW I'd like to try it :)
is it odd that I watch this while doing homework? idk things about my childhood just brings me peace.
mario 64 one of my favorite game of all time i got this with the n64 when i was 5 if nintendo brings this to the switch i would buy it in a heartbeat
They are on September 13 for the game's 35th anniversary
The game that dropped jaws around the world and set the bar very very high for video games in general not just mario games.
Super Mario 64 is one of the greatest video games of all time due to it's revolutionary and breathtaking gameplay, levels, and graphics. It define the 3d era of the platforming genre. It was decent. To this day I still watch it and I consider it a classic. It never gets old. 😍💯😎👍
This is one of like 3 n64 games I used to have and played
A long time ago when I was small Little boy I couldn't remember when was the first time I discovered the N64, but all I remember is that I used to watched my dad playing the game all the time. So while I was watching him playing the game I got curious about this mysterious game, so one day I tried looking for the N64 around the house and I found it! And the cartridge too! I plugged in the console into the tv and inserted the cartridge on top of it, and when I turn the on power button I hear the voice of the jump man himself, "It's a me Mario!" And I got spooked hearing that for a second. So then I continued on to the game and I died alot I almost quit, but then one day my dad was watching me trying to get good. So he teaches me how to play and I was getting better and better, the more I played the more I was having fun. I love this game so much and I still do to this day. Thank you Super Mario 64 for giving all the amazing memories you gave me, and thank you Dad for helping me. This is the best and the first video game I ever played in my life. Thank you Super Mario 64, and Thank you Dad. Thank you so much giving me those happy memories. Thank you. And so whenever I play SM64 on my Switch or the original N64 I always have the happiest times. Thank you Super Mario 64, and thank you Dad. 😊
Jolly Roger Bay music 👈 Best Music in the franchise hands down!! 🙌😎💯👌
XxAngelReaperxX nice calming music too
I’d have to say secret slide music
Bum bum bum bum, bum, bum bum bum bum bum.
You know that music is the Dire Dire Docks one?
XxAngelReaperxX For real! This game has some of the best/most nostalgic songs of any game!
The only biggest mistake that Nintendo did to this game:
They were going to have Luigi return once again as player-2 but they couldn't develop cooperative-mode because of it's complicated camera angles so they threw the multiplayer option away along with Luigi.
(Why not at least instead make a split-screen mode, or stick with the 80s tradition on developing SM64 into a multiplayer hotseat game?)
Honestly I'm very happy with the way it turned out. I didn't even consider Luigi when I was sinking hours into it as a kid.
@@TBrizzle01
Actually, I also didn't think about Luigi when I first played SM64... until I realized it... and that's why Luigi appeared in the DS remake.
or they could make it like super mario b ros. where when mario dies luigi comes in and then when he dies mario comes in again with one less life and so on until both players loose all their lives
@@TheWASHINGMACHINEBOY
Those are called "hotseat games" as I mentioned at the end of my comment.
(It's the turn-based multiplayer option like in the golden age of arcade games)
oh
Wow, never realized so much of mario galaxy came from this game. I didnt have a 64 so i never played this. But i love mario galaxy
I can’t believe I watched the whole thing.
Back in the early 2000s when I play this game when I was a kid this game automatically got all the stages and the stars by itself I had no idea how that happened
Your memory card or the cartridge had the game data stored from the previous owner

I don't care what anyone says...this is greatest game of all time.
1:20 i remember playing this game when young on the wii as a virtual console game (i reached the age of being able to play video games around the time the nintendo DS came out) and even though the wii controller doesn’t have a control stick in the center of the controller, the text still said that
also i played the DS remake of this game before the virtual console port
This is my favorite nintendo 64 game. Super mario 64 used to come out when I was 7. Child hood memories. 😊
You just can't get enough of this game, don't you agree?
It's just so fun to play and brimming with charm! Some of the first mainstream 3D games were more curiosities or just flat out janky, but this game managed to not only look and play well, but feel fresh and fun every time you play.
@@tatertot64 Indeed it looks fresh! It has aged well compared to other games from the same era.

1:24:48 Big Boo’s Secret Laugh
I remember playing this game a lot when I was about 5 or 6, and I'll be honest, I'm not a 90's kid, I grew up in the the early 2000's (though I'm not gonna state what exact year). I always sucked at this game but I had a blast playing it, the N64 we had unfortunately broke many years ago, it upset me a lot. The more Super Mario 64 related stuff I see, the slightly sadder I get, however, there is a videogame store about an hours drive from where I live. And last time I was there (which was about two years ago) there was one or more N64s apparently available for purchase. Hopefully someday I can get my hands on one, and hopefully it lasts a while. Thanks for the memories (I feel so off saying that...)
I just finished this game today (not the 3D All-Stars version, just on the N64 system) and ever since I played the DS version and finding out it was a remake to the original as a kid, I always want to try it until now as a grown up, it's hard but short and it's gonna be my favorite Mario game 😌😊
Jolly Roger Bay was always my favorite level
